There have been many eyeliner trends, consider the cat eye look, smoky eyes, double wing-effect and gothic-inspired smudgy eyes.  But the latest trend is the dot eyeliner. It’s slowly been highlighted in our Instagram feeds as well as on display at designer runways.

The history of the dot eyeliner started in the ’60s when women wore white platform boots and Twiggy dotted her lower lash line to emphasise her luscious lashes and Bambi eyes. Decades later, in 2012, Pat McGrath placed a single cornflower-blue dot in the middle of the lower lash lines of models walking in an Anna Sui show. There was silence from the trend until Lucia Pieroni created his own version of the look for the Rochas spring/summer 2015 show.

Nowadays, beauty bloggers and celebs (like Emma Roberts and Zoe Kravitz) are bringing dot eyeliner into 2017 in a big way. People have been embracing details on the lower lash lines. To keep the look sophisticated, make sure the rest of the make-up is low-key: groom brows to look natural and in balance and keep skin matte.
