As the radiant face of the Capture Totale skincare line since 2013, model, muse and mother to three sons, Eva Herzigova, takes time out to share the beauty secrets that have helped her maintain her fresh and youthful complexion over the years.
Tell us how your career began?
It all started by chance. A friend of mine persuaded me to accompany her to a beauty contest in Prague, as she didn’t want to go alone. They noticed me and, at 16, I left home to go to Paris, where my modelling career began.
Who has inspired you the most in your career or in your life?
Bianca Jagger is an icon I have looked up to. She always looks smart, chic, feminine, and elegant. Also, it would be Charlotte Rampling and Sophia Coppola.
What makes a woman, elegant, beautiful, and unique in your eyes?
When a woman is self-confident, she feels comfortable with her own skin and body. Stop comparing yourself and don’t try to look like another woman! That’s just nonsense… Don’t chase the past. Instead alter your style, your mind, to feel great again.
What is the quality you most admire in a woman?
A woman who has a combination of being protective, is understanding and kind, and self-aware.
Generally speaking, do you pay more attention to your skin, your hair, your face, or your nails?
It would definitely be to my skin so I can still feel beautiful without any make-up on. But for me it’s also important to have great hair to feel comfortable.
What has been your biggest beauty faux-pas?
A pony tail on a side of my head, blue eyeshadow and bright pink lips. I remember wanting to look grown up when working this look.
What does a perfect beauty product mean for you? Which kind of benefit do you expect from a treatment?
What matters the most to me is texture and performance. Naturally, I expect maximum effectiveness in a minimum of time, but also some comfort. If you love the sensoriality of a product, you will apply it every day, and its effectiveness will be even stronger. The benefit I expect from a treatment is that it must suit your needs of the moment, brightness, hydration, anti-wrinkles, etc. Your skin changes, and your beauty product should adapt.
What products can’t you live without?
Dior Capture Totale eye cream has been part of my daily routine since I was 18. Then, depending on the occasion, I apply Capture Totale Dreamskin Advanced for every day or the cushion to go out. But my biggest beauty secret is to use the Dreamskin one-minute mask.

What is your beauty regime to achieve your dream-like skin?
I have a healthy approach based on ‘what you eat is who you are,’ and I care for myself in that way. Sleeping is also priceless, 7-8 hours per night, and drinking a lot of water too.
In your point of view, what is the excitement of Dreamskin Advanced? How does it help to achieve your perfect skin?

How do your views and your approach to beauty align with Dior’s?
Monsieur Dior used to say that, ‘Happiness is the secret to all beauty,’ and I certainly align with that! More practically, beauty care must be a moment of pleasure. Beyond appearing younger, above all, women wish to feel beautiful and comfortable in their own skin, with Dreamskin, Dior gives you pleasure, effectiveness and comfort. Also, the search for beauty must be environmentally friendly. I know that Dior’s attitude towards the environment is trendsetting and friendly at the same time. Environment is something I became even more concerned about after my first son was born. You just start to care what the future will be like when you have children.
What have been the guiding principles for you in your life so far?
My principle has always been to give the best you can in all circumstances, and going ahead when reaching an obstacle. These are my pillars for most decisions I make in my personal life and in my work.
What is your real passion?
My family! Being a mother is the one closest thing to my heart. And I have been lucky to have three amazing kids and my husband Gregorio.
Where do you go and what do you do when you have some spare time and really wish to relax?
My ultimate relaxation in London is to go to the movies once a week! Me and my husband. No kids, just the two of us. Popcorn and coke!
Can you tell us something about yourself that most people won´t believe?
Growing up in the Czech Republic I used to sew my own clothes. We had this really old sewing machine with a big wheel you had to step on to make it work, which my dad finally converted into an electrical one. I had some knowledge of tailoring and some basics about how to assemble things together. I even managed to show off my creations with this little group of 10-12 girls from my tiny town who would travel around on either the weekends or evenings around the former Czechoslovakia to all kinds of events to present this home-made fashion line in a form of a commented fashion show. It was hilarious!
Do you have any other hidden talents that you can share with us?
I’m good at cooking! I love going to fresh food markets, cooking a meal for my family and friends and always trying new recipes. I collect cook books.
What are your dreams now, and when you were a little girl?
I’ve had even more than I had wished for when I was a little girl. I’ve had an amazing life, the opportunity to travel the world and learn five languages, to work with the most talented people in all the artistic fields, and to create my own wonderful family. My dream is now watching my kids growing up and becoming independent and careful men.
What are your plans for the future?
I’m currently working on the post-production activities for the Czech film Masaryk, in which I play the leading female role, and which is due to be released at the start of this year. I’m also focusing on many interesting collaborations with some important magazines in terms of art direction.
Tell us a quote that you love?
‘If you ever need me, I’m right here for you’. I tell it to my children before they go to bed.
