New York Fashion Week: Alexander Wang FW18

Alexander Wang has fun with fashion and there were plenty of smiles at the end of his final showcase at New York Fashion Week.

Guests were invited to sit in cubicles located in the former Times Square home of Conde Nast to admire Wang’s FW18 range which was a leap into the Matrix with black leather trench coats and jackets as well as fitted mini dresses and tiny cat-eye sunglasses. Everything that powerful woman needs in her wardrobe.

The collection was a mix of 80’s and 90’s with futuristic elements and streetwear for a contemporary feel. Skirts, dresses and pockets were heavily decorated in zips while other metal hardware adorned sporty pants and rain jackets. The tough pieces were balanced with feminine silhouettes like sheer mini dresses, lace trim tops and button-down elongated velvet blazers. Eagle eye beauty editors saw the return of the claw clip that gave model’s hair a cool corporate effect and might be one of the emerging hair trends next season, along with Tom Ford’s leather headband.

The Wangfest might be leaving the fashion week calendar, but the fans will follow anywhere he goes.
