As much as we look forward to summer, this season of shows has seen some of the best outwear from leading designers making us crave winter all over again.

From bold puffer jackets at Burberry and voluminous shearling at Preen By Thornton Bregazzi and Loewe to powerful faux fur at Givenchy and Stella McCartney, FW18 coats are for showing off – and who wouldn’t want to parade down the street in two-tone creation from Marni?

Heritage check isn’t going anywhere and if you’re looking for structured feminine silhouettes head to Balenciaga and Fendi while Phillip Lim applied it to a puffer coat. There was plenty of leather and high shine but the main objective was maximum warmth with no compromise on style.

Almost every base was covered – but there were no basic black and navy wool options in sight- instead there was decadent texture, edgy leopard print and decorative embroidery. So before you invest in another classic, look through our edit above as these are the coats for statement making.
