The 70th annual BAFTAs ceremony took place last night at the Royal Albert Hall in London, and as usual it was a star-studded event.

With awards season in full swing and the Academy Awards mere weeks away, the best of the silver screen walked the red carpet last night in bold and glittering couture gowns. We’ve picked our favourites below:

Best Actress nominee Emily Blunt chose chic ruffles and intricate embroidery in a gown by Alexander McQueen.

Nicole Kidman, nominee for Best Supporting Actress, chose to wear a black velvet gown by Armani Privè with a blue, silver and black hand beaded halter neck top.

Emma Stone was the one who took home the Best Actress award for the evening. She looked stunning in low-cut Chanel for the occasion.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were at the BAFTAs as guests of honour. Kate Middleton held her own in an Alexander McQueen creation.

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner dazzled in a sparkling low-cut Louis Vuitton dress with a thigh high split.
