The 1980s are having a major come back for Fall ready-to-wear and couture shows. Think proportions of stirrup trousers, big shoulders and small waists. One particular hip designer namely Olympia Le-Tan, who has always been of fan of 1980s artist Keith Haring, has put her own spin into creating a new collection of bags with Haring’s work on them. She recalled Haring’s merchandise store at 292 Lafayette Street in New York that opened in 1986 but later shut down in 2005, 15 years after his death.

Le-Tan told Vogue: “I was obsessed with Keith Haring when I was a kid. My dad used to bring me back T-shirts from the Pop Shop, as he went to New York quite a lot. Haring’s work is so fun and colourful. It looks naive yet it’s very political, which is why I like it so much. I thought this would be a good capsule to compliment our Fall collection, Framed, which was about the art world.”

The designer curated her favourite pieces from the artist for her Haring Capsule. And as Le-Tan is known for her book designs she in interpreted Haring’s 1989 piece for the Paris Review, as well as Nina’s Book of Little Things, which he created in 1988 for Nina Clemente, the daughter of friend and artist Francesco Clemente.

Parisian based Le-Tan chose muse Chloë Sevigny to model the range for photographer Oliver Hadlee Pearch . Shed added: “Other than being smart and gorgeous, Chloë is the coolest New Yorker there is!”

Olympia Le-Tan’s Keith Haring capsule is available for preorder at olympialetan.com and they are due to be on sale from 15th November.
