With another year coming to a close, we have decided to look back on the last 12 months of statement pieces and bold combinations to gather our top five most popular fashion trends of 2017 that we will still be wearing next season.
Frilled
Gucci, Michael Kors and Mulberry.
Nearly every single designer delivered their interpretation of a frilly trend. Alessandro Michele for Gucci went to the maximum, while Michael Kors and Mulberry presented a grown-up take on a flirty style. Don’t hurry to pack these away next year, there will be plenty to be frilled about just with a touch more structure.
Mellow Yellow
Emilio Pucci, Chloe and Tibi.
It was yellow’s time to shine – an optimistic hue that offers variety of brightness and tones to suit any style. At Chloe we saw boho feminine silhouettes and preppy layering, while Tibi and Emilio Pucci were more about the sophisticated woman with subtle pleats and clean shapes. Wear head to toe or look for pastel shades next season.
Hello Kitty
Dior and Prada.
Kitten heels are having a moment and are still trending well into 2018. For SS17 designers like Celine and Dior chose a modern take on ladylike style while Prada injected some sporty decadence with feathers and velcro strap. Meanwhile, Balenciaga created must have Knife kitten heel mules that were snapped up by all street style stars.
Millennial Pink
Valentino, Bottega Veneta and Fendi.
It was virtually impossible to avoid the term ‘millennial pink’ that kept cropping up in many collections and trend reports. Despite initial reaction of it being overly-girly, this sorbet hue is incredibly versatile, modern and slick. Valentino, Marni and Emilia Wickstead show how diverse it can be. Next season, look for tailored pieces in this bubble gum shade.
Ring On It
Simon Miller, Chloe and J.W. Anderson.
We have stopped counting how many times a Chloe Nile, J.W. Anderson Pierce or Simon Miller Bonsai bags have come up in all fashion week or runway roundups. What do you they all have in common? A metal ring. Ring bags have been a hit this year that will retain their appeal well into the next season with Chloe adding new colours to it’s sell out line up.
