Dana Mortada   |   13-10-2017

Born and raised in Beirut, MiraHayek pursued a degree in Graphic Design at Lebanese American University (LAU), after she moved to Italy to pursue her dream in fashion; where she studied fashion design at Istituto Marangoni and following a Master Research Study Program in Fashion and Textile Design at Istituto Europeo di Design.

After completing her studies, she immediately tackled two internships with big names in the industry- one at Elie Saab in Beirut and another at Erdem in London. Known as a creative graphic designer and fashion illustrator; in 2011, Hayek was selected by the STARCH foundation to design her very first ready-to-wear collection under her eponymous brand mirahayek. Ever since the brand was launched, Mira took part of various fashion exhibitions and shows across the region. Mira was also honored with many awards, and has been nominated in two consecutive years for the International Woolmark Prize, in the year 2015 and 2016.

Today, the Lebanese contemporary designer ‘s main source of inspiration comes from geometric shapes, animations and the ’80s era. Her  creations are specially dedicated to the modern and eccentric woman; who seeks versatile pieces with the perfect balance between style and comfort. The mirahayek brand stands out through its key elements of bold graphic aesthetics, loose silhouettes and vivid colour schemes, which all comes in harmony with Mira’s playful twists.

For FW17 season the designer draws inspiration from pop- art and pays tribute to the infamous French street artist- Koralie.
