Lady Gaga’s style transformation throughout the press tour of the movie A Star Is Born has won her nods from the fashion crowd, especially when she wore the feathered Valentino dress in Cannes.
But for her latest public appearance she swapped the gowns for something a little more paired back, and yet just as effective.
The singer chose an oversized masculine suit from the Marc Jacobs SS19 collection that not only looked effortless, but also showcased a relaxed version of power dressing. Structured through the shoulders with fluid lines at the waistline, it made a statement without shouting. Instead, it was her own voice that spoke through the outfit as she took to the stage at Women in Hollywood event and said:
“As a sexual assault survivor by someone in the entertainment industry, as a woman who is still not brave enough to say his name, as a woman who lives with chronic pain, as a woman who was conditioned at a very young age to listen to what men told me to do, I decided today I wanted to take the power back. Today I wear the pants.”
She is not the only one to swap a dress for a power suit with Tracee Ellis Ross wearing a pink Pyer Moss ensemble with black accents to host the American Music Awards earlier this month.
It seems like the perfect time to armour yourself with a maxi suit.
