First Fenty Beauty, and now Rihanna has announced that she has united with LVMH – the French multinational luxury goods conglomerate – to launch her own fashion label. Here’s what we know so far.
Two years after launching Fenty Beauty, Rihanna is following up with Fenty Fashion
Barbados-born singer Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, and it has quickly become one of our favourite beauty brands with a clear cult following based on merit, not just name. Gaining such a following, it would only natural that the 31-year-old would expand her empire.
And after teasing Fenty Skin earlier this year, the Diamonds hitmaker has announced that she is launching her own fashion label. On the news, Rihanna said: “Designing a line like this with LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us. Mr Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits. I couldn’t imagine a better partner both creatively and business-wise, and I’m ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
While Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH, added: “Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH. To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the Group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success.” Leading up to the launch, here’s everything we know so far.
What We Know About Fenty Fashion To Date
Rihanna has teamed up with the world’s largest luxury group LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE to create her own label, as it was announced in May 2019. The collaboration will make the singer the first woman to create an original brand at LVMH and the first woman of colour at the top of an LVMH Maison.
The label will also be the first new house created by the group – which also owns the likes of Dior, Givenchy, Celine and Fendi – since 1987.
If you didn’t learn this when Fenty Beauty made its way into our makeup bags, then it’s time you took in this nugget of knowledge. The name Fenty is derived from Rihanna’s real name; Robyn Rihanna Fenty.
The line is said to include items such as ready-to-wear, shoes, accessories, and jewellery, meaning we can go head-to-toe in Fenty, completing our look with following the music icon’s beauty tips using her makeup line.
The groundbreaking label will be showcased in Paris in late May 2019.
On social media and on the website, the logo for the brand has been debuted, which is reminiscent of a Greek key. The further meaning behind it is yet to be revealed.
