Erdem let us into his fantasy where a royal Debutante enters the glamorous world of the New York Jazz scene.
He transported us back to the 1950’s where the dresses were modest but beautifully fitted and ladies hair was smoothed into a neat ponytail and secured with a ribbon.
Looking at the mood board backstage, you’d spot famous photos of the young Queen Elizabeth II, not long after her glittering Coronation, along with ladies at the New York iconic spot The Cotton Club. Queen meets jazz.
This was dressing at its prettiest with Duchess’ gowns and soft, floating tea frocks decorated in his signature decadent brocade.
Earrings looked liked a mash of trinkets you’d find in your grandmother’s attic with pearls and floral gems brought together in a modern design. Shoes, flat or with a medium heel, were covered in printed curtain fabric with embellishment and lace.
We imagine it was hard for the attendees to step out of Erdem’s imagination into the real world.
