PARIS FASHION WEEK AW17: Chloé

Today was Clare Waight-Keller’s final runway show for Chloé. In the lead up to the event, the label shared brief glimpses back on what they described as her ‘stellar body of work’ as creative director of the brand. Waight-Keller herself had also been sharing touching photos of the lead up to her last presentation for Chloé; clearly this was to be an emotionally charged show for all involved as this era at the Maison comes to an end.

For the AW17 collection, Waight-Keller delivered a study in Parisian chic, mixed with the delicate feminine ‘70’s references the Maison is famed for. The first look was a ladylike checked coat with double-breasted buttons and a brown fur collar. The prim jacket was paired with bare legs and mary-jane shoes, a theme that continued throughout. There was a plethora of long-sleeved mini dresses in mini paisley prints, sheer fabrications and pussy-bow collars; a look so easy for the Chloé girl to pull off, with bare legs again of course.

The menswear inspired pieces were over-size, relaxed and luxurious looking. There were wide leg trousers in grey and ochre, slung low on the hips and held up by skinny belts; they looked comfortable and effortlessly chic.

As with last season, there was a nod to streetwear, this time in the form of drawstring waist track pants with zip openings at the ankles in blue, white and purple. There was also a matching brown jacket and pants with brown leather patches for those looking for the full-on tracksuit look.

The mohair knitwear was excellent, coming in a striking blue, red and brown print and elsewhere in beautifully multi-coloured stripes. Closer fitting jumpers were paired with loose fitting trousers and over-size cardigans were slung effortlessly over little slip dresses.

One of the last pieces was red velvet mini dress with a heart shaped cut-out at the chest; perhaps Clare Waight-Keller’s personal goodbye to her brand. It was a fond farewell to her beloved Chloé girls.
