The Fendi Resort ’18 collection was a gorgeous demonstration of the expert use of colour. Pink and yellow, blue on orange and deep greens against neutrals were a feast for the eyes. Add to that the beautiful textures – Prince of Wales checks with yellow fur – and pretty prints of swirling florals and it was a Fendi-esque recipe for success.
Infused throughout were the Fendi touches of excess and whimsy that make the label so fun and always exciting to see what’s coming up next. Masculine and sportswear touches were sprinkled around, alongside feminine fit and flare dress silhouettes that would cater to the girliest of girls. The vibrant colours of dresses, tops and jackets against the cool neutrals of trousers and boots added depth, energy and freshness to the pieces.
The presentation as a whole felt eccentric and yet modern, clean and uncluttered. There was plenty of structure in the ladylike jackets in varying tweed textures and also lots of movement in the elegant pleated silk dresses, one perfectly rendered in yellow with contrasting black belt. Ribbons and pearls were also prevalent throughout, a standout piece being a pearl embellished brown fur bomber jacket with Fendi emblazoned across the back; a key piece of the collection.
