You can thank Meghan Markle and Clare Waight Keller for bringing back the boat neckline wedding dresses.

The new Duchess of Sussex chose this classically elegant silhouette and Waight Keller used her design mastery to create a show-stopping Givenchy gown that was admired by over a billion people around the world on Saturday.

Why does this shape work so well? It is timeless and seriously chic. The neckline adds just the right amount of femininity without edging on boring. Also, some believe the neckline is one of women’s best features, so do like Markle and wear your hair in a low bun to showcase the clean lines of the cut.

As with the previous Royal Wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011, this style has been making it’s way round the trend pages with many soon-to-be brides seeking to recreate that minimalist princess moment on their special day. We’ve also done our research to bring together some of the best versions of Meghan Markle’s custom-made gown in the gallery above.
