Karl Lagerfeld is certainly a man full of ideas. His recent project brought him to design engagement rings for brides-to-be, which he has never done before. The designer told Vogue: “I had never done a ring for that occasion. It was kind of a challenge.” He has entered into a licensing agreement with jeweller Frederick Goldman to distribute Karl Lagerfeld fine jewellery in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.

The first collection debuts this autumn 2016. It will highlight engagement rings for the millennial crowd. The collection includes three distinct designs. The first being pointed studs similar to the ones seen on many of the accessories in his eponymous line. The second incorporates contemporary geometric shapes. Finally, the third is inspired by the curves and arches seen throughout Parisian architecture.

Lagerfeld sentimentally added: “The rings had to express something that concerns the heart and real feelings. It has to be a symbol and a sign of a real wish of engagement. It has to be elegant but not bling-bling.” All of the styles are offered in 18-karat white and yellow gold, as well as platinum, and prices start at $1,000, going up to $10,000.
