Amy Louise   |   13-03-2017

Paris Fashion Week marked the culmination of Fashion Month and certainly made a lasting impression on all of us. From spectacular venues such as, Louis Vuitton’s show at the Louvre to Chanel’s most impressive fashion prop, a launching rocket. Commes de Garcons gave us yet another interesting and wacky collection, Balenciaga showcased nine, visually stunning couture dresses, in honour of their 100th anniversary and Stella McCartney ended her show with a bevy of models dancing to George Michael’s hit song, ‘Faith.’

Scroll down to see our round up of the main trends that emerged over Paris Fashion Week.

Shearling

Bohemian vibes are continuing into next season, with the shearling coat acting as the perfect 70’s silhouette for Fall 2017. From Shearling collars and cuffs, to gilets and oversized, statement pieces, the shearling coat is the perfect number this Winter. Combine two trends in one and go for next season’s popular tan colour, or make a statement in Hermes’s colourful ensemble.

Trench Coats

The war time staple has made a comeback, yet again. Trench coats were a common theme and were styled in a predominately neutral colour palette. Christian Dior topped off the look with typical Parisian flair by sporting a chic beret. The trench coat is something every woman should own and is the perfect staple, particularly for next season.

Silver Metallics

Silver metallics dominated Paris Fashion Week and Fashion Month. This futuristic style is here to stay and can be worn as a full ensemble for the perfect fashion statement, or take a leaf out of Loewe’s book and really add a pop to your look.

High-Shine

High Shine Trend

From Left to Right: Chanel, Nina Ricci, Saint Laurent, Dries Van Noten.

The 80s revival is still very much upon us, with many high shine pieces taking centre stage at Paris Fashion Week. Expect to see plenty of people sporting this fun and garish look that will certainly get you noticed.

Oversized Pieces

Oversized pieces and details were a particular trending feature during Paris Fashion Week. The term, bigger is better, certainly was the motto inspiring most designers this month, with jewellery, hats, bags, dresses and outerwear making a statement down the runway. Oversized details were also a prominent feature, with plenty of oversized ruffles, sleeves, collars and headpieces making an impact.

Tan-Tastic

Tan Trend

From Left to Right: Saint Laurent, Isabel Marant, Balmain, Stella McCartney.

Tan was the trending colour at Paris fashion Week, with most collections featuring at least a few looks in this deep and exotic shade. A classic colour, which is not only versatile but extremely flattering on any skin tone.
