The latest offering for Pre-fall’18, creative director Olivier Rousteing focused on timeless iconic Balmain piece like marinière-inspired beaded  mini dresses, glittery tweed knits, and puff-shouldered jackets adorned with crystals and swooshing with chains, and of course destroyed slogan T-shirts.

Fabrics varied from metallics to patent leather and soft delicate textures. The collection feature red, white and blue patterns, commemorating the French flag.

“What I really wanted to work on this season was defining the French rules, my take on French spirit. Between the L’Oréal [Paris lipstick] collaboration, the [costumes for Paris Opera] ballet [“Renaissance”] and Brigitte Macron wearing Balmain, this past year has been really French for me,” said Rousteing.

The sparkly Parisian collection revisited the marinière theme that Rousteing presented in his SS17 collection, but reinterpreted it into  on baroque fringed miniskirts or toppers scattered with embroidery; also featured all kind of clear plastics from shiny leather, glossy PVC, and few pieces with hologram effects.
