Georges Chakra’s tributes artist Jean Cocteau

Participating in Paris Fashion Week, the Fall/Winter 2015-2016 Couture show of fashion designer Georges Chakra took place on the 7th of July 2015 at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris. Inspired by the poet and artist Jean Cocteau, the collection draws a fine line between floral poetry and edgy strength.  This winter, Georges Chakra celebrates a new muse, angelic and passionate and at the same time a woman who is sensitive to art and beauty.

The silhouettes flirt with the 50s era, graceful and feminine, yet radiate a certain authority.  The wardrobe is elegance at its finest with a mixture of short, midi and long dresses, marked waists and thigh high slot evening dresses with trains. Luxurious patterns, geometrical sequins, painted fabrics, laminated fringes and velvet are paired with a single glistening ear piece and long leather gloves for a contrast of modernity and refinement.

The colour palette is powerful, royal and aristocratic: royal blue, carmine red, garnet, green, fuchsia, violet sometimes mixed with orange, along with the eternal black and white, and some metallic hues. Mixing soft romanticism and royal modernity, the bride closes the show in a white lace gown and long train hand studded with crystals and florals. A large crowd of fashion lovers, press and VIPs, such as the American actress Meg Ryan, the Czech model and TV presenter Petra Nemcova, the famous designer Chantale Thomas as well as the French actress Emmanuelle Boidron gave the designer a well-deserved standing ovation at the end of his show.
