Sheer elegance at Elie Saab Haute Couture Spring 2017

  |   26-01-2017

Elie Saab pulled out all of the stops, presenting a range filled with intricate embroidery, luxe fabrics, high-shine embellishment and jewel-encrusted rich shades of blue, gold and nude. Saab absolutely offered a typical haute couture experience with a sea of trailing caped backs, dresses and skirts cut to flow over narrow trousers. It was sheer elegance and grace.

There was inspiration from Egypt at the turn of the 20th century which represented the golden era of the Arab world. In recognition of that era, he embroidered one particular dress with the palm tress of Domyat city and boats sailing along the Nile River.

The Lebanese designer also caters to his more modest clientele, offering formal looks with sleeves, trousers, and covered décolletage. The designs had artfully and intricately placed beading  to emphasise and flatter areas of the body.
