It’s exciting news when cool brands come together to create cutting edge new designs, but it is even better when the collaboration is for a good cause. Newsflash: Prabal Gurung has teamed up with TOMS and its aim is to help raise awareness and funds for rebuilding efforts following the devastating earthquake in Nepal in 2015, where Gurung was raised.

The New York-based designer, Prabal Gurung, is a native of Nepal so he wants to give back in a big way. TOMS’ known for their ‘buy one and one will be given to a child in need’ moral principle, but this time they will also donate $5 of every purchase from the special fashion collaboration to the Shikshya Foundation Nepal. The charity’s main mission is to provide education and aid relief efforts to underprivileged children affected by the earthquake.

The designer went to Nepal in April and worked with the team at TOMS to design a red, white and black Fair Isle print reminiscent of the fabrics and textiles they sourced on the trip and emblazoned it across their classic slip on style. A laced suede boot with cream faux-fur trim is perfect for the cold weather for fall and winter.

The styles and prints are timelessness and vibrant. They emulate the brands characteristics. The colours, graphics and traditional and modern balance are highlighted in the new collection.

Founder of TOMS, Blake Mycoskie told Vogue: “We call these designer partnerships our “energy” moments. After 10 years of TOMS, we’re in a place where we’ve established the TOMS brand as the leader of the One for One business, and these amazing designer collaborations help us spread the movement to audiences we may not have reached before.”

Gurung added: “TOMS was a brand we had always hoped we could work with in some capacity.  I have always respected what they have done and the message behind the brand really resonates with me. I was put in touch with their team soon after the earthquake in Nepal through a mutual friend who does a lot of work for Nepal’s healthcare system. He felt that the time was right and it was.”
