The icon of the industry and hair pioneer Oribe Canales has passed away aged 62.

Cuban-American creative has worked with the likes of Meghan Markle, Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Ashley Graham and Naomi Campbell as well as leading fashion brands such as a Chanel. His own brand Oribe became a cult favourite, with the Dry Texturizing Spray proving a sell out.

Oribe HQ in New York released a statement saying that they have not had an official confirmation from the family and added:
“Oribe was an amazing hairdresser and friend and will be missed. Out of respect for his partner, Zaki, and his family, we have no further comment at this time.”

The news was followed by floods of social media posts from celebrities including Miley Cyrus who wrote:
“Wish I could hug you, wish I could smell the familiar scent of when you walked in to a room. I’d do anything to tell you one more time how beautiful you make me feel… I love you Oribe and I always will.”
