Elie Saab has launched the ‘Girl of Now’ initiative in collaboration with Womena, a regional women’s investment platform.

The Girl of Now seeks to support women leadership, empowerment and stresses the importance of educating in order to empower female youth to go further, reach higher and perhaps become leaders of tomorrow.

They kicked off the initiative by hosting a high tea accompanied by an inspirational talk at Ayyam Gallery, Dubai. This event was the first in a series planned to actively support the effort to shed light on high-achieving females, both regionally and globally.

The event featured three inspirational speakers and hosted a gathering of prominent female figures from across the Middle East. They all came together to share their experiences of entrepreneurship, leadership, investment and breaking of stereotypes.

‘Women are the real game-changers in this region, and yet we rarely see them in the spotlight. We need to be more outspoken about our accomplishments because when we are, it’s contagious.’ – Elissa Freiha, founder and CEO of Womena.

‘Confidence comes from within and being able to share my journey with everyone else has enabled me to find my voice and the voice of a previously unknown demographic of stutterers.’ – Farah Al Qassieh, tech entrepreneur and founder of Stutter UAE.

The Girl of Now Initiative serves as another drive within Elie Saab’s ongoing activities to support potential talent, which include mentorship through the Lebanese American University’s Fashion Design Bachelor Program, involvement in PROJECT RUNWAY ME, and partnership with the Hyeres Fashion and Photography Festival.
