What we saw as a great partnership between Raf Simons and Calvin Klein has come to a sudden end after less than two years.

Here at a&e, we loved the cinematic and edgy vibe that Simons added to the American multi-tiered, multi-billion-dollar brand as their first chief creative officer, but it looks like his vision didn’t connect with the core customer base that mainly shop denim and underwear, rather than high fashion.

Leaving eight months before his contract is due for renewal, Calvin Klein will not stage their usual show in February during New York Fashion Week. In a statement, PHV, the labels parent company, said:

“Both parties have amicably decided to part ways after Calvin Klein Inc. decided on a new brand direction which differs from Simons’s creative vision.”

Despite this sudden breakup, Simon’s can now focus more on his namesake label which he will still show in the new year.
