Some thought not, but when you take a closer look at other designers that offer something short and dazzling, a little sparkly dress might not be such a bad idea – especially with the event season is in full swing.
From the FW18 runway shows, OTT glitter was spotted at Tom Ford, Saint Laurent, Balmain and Halpern with a particular emphasis on the 80’s silhouette – i.e super short with power shoulders. The trick is to embrace the sequins in its full capacity, because these dresses are designed for standing out.
Choose quality to avoid it looking ‘costume’ and go for slicked-back hair, minimal makeup and classic accessories that allow the attention to be purely on the high-shine number.
