Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli accomplish a new stage of a very personal narrative journey to depict the many cultures of Africa. The influence of African art has been a driving force and a source of inspiration for contemporary art. The spring/summer 2016 collection is inspired by these elements which are interpreted with totemic grace in order to give a perspective close to the contemporary culture.

It is the emotional thread that lines the main theme for the new spring/summer 2016 collection windows. For this project, there is a special collaboration with gallerist Carmen Moreno, curator of the exhibition “Il Tribale nell’Inconscio del Contemporaneo” and the Italian – French artist Serge Uberti which is one its protagonists.

The special set up composed by ethnographic African art pieces combined to the contemporary pieces by Serge Uberti will surround the Valentino dresses and accessories having as protagonist a powerful figure: emotions and spirituality, sensuality and human touch, key to the persistent research of beauty as an expression of virtue.

The installation will be exclusively presented in some of the most important Valentino flagship stores: New York Fifth Avenue (11th February 2016); Milano Montenapoleone (17th February 2016); Paris Montaigne (19th February 2016); Rome Piazza di Spagna (23rd February 2016); London Sloane Street, Harrods (both 1st March 2016) and London Old Bond Street (5th March 2016); Hong Kong Canton Road (3rd March 2016) and Hong Kong IFC (4th March 2016).

To celebrate the launch, on February 23rd  2016 a cocktail party to honour the special windows installation will take place at the Piazza di Spagna store in Rome and Valentino’s creative directors and the gallerist Carmen Moreno will attend the event in store.
