Well-known Japanese artist, Wadayama Masahiro moved to the United States to pursue his academics and fell in love with the art of ceramics almost immediately. Each element of this art became a fascination to Masahiro from falling in love not only with the process, but also with the craft and intimate connection between the clay and the potter as well. He began to capture both Western and Eastern ideals in each of his pieces, as being away from home helped him appreciate traditional Japanese heritage while also embracing the energetic Western culture. Masahiro works with porcelain clay to creative delicate pieces, full of colourful glazes focusing on the texture and vibrancy created by the glaze. Now based in Osaka, Japan, Masahiro creates one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces that are as expressive as they are beautiful by using the science behind firing clay in the kiln with the artistic lens in which he views the world.

Shino Takeda’s handmade pieces use a unique design method involving coiled clay and colourful glazes. Growing up in southern Japan, Takeda was surrounded by traditional Japanese art. Her home was filled with beautiful Japanese textiles and ceramics, giving her an eye for beauty and an appreciation for art at an early age.  By the age of 20, Takeda moved to New York City to pursue her artistic aspirations where she grew into her own style and body of work. Her pieces intimately fuse together her Eastern heritage, her love for nature, and deep appreciation of colour, thus giving a strong yet emotional connection to each unforgettable piece.
