Today MoMa opens it’s first fashion exhibition for 73 years in New York.

The Museum Of Modern Art takes a closer look at what style means today as it unveils Items: Is Fashion Modern?

Brought together by Paola Antonelli, MoMA’s senior curator of architecture and design and director of R&D, the exhibit focuses on the garments that ‘changed the world’ such as Levi’s 501 jeans, the little black dress, Prada Nylon backpacks and one of the most iconic handbags – the Hermès Birkin.

Although it’s a heavy focus on Western fashion, there will also be a number of key staples from other parts of the world such as sari and the dashiki.

The 111 iconic designs will be on display until December 30.
