von Unwerth was born in Frankfurt in 1954 and started her photography career in the early 90’s, first working for British designer Katharine Hamnett. It was in 1991 that she met a 17-year-old Schiffer and took her picture for the first time and it was that moment that kicked off the model’s impressive career. Since then, the German artist has been on a lookout for new faces while shooting for leading publications and working with stars from the world of music and the silver screen.
