Being driven by results and the ability to be creative is key for her demanding role as the Director Of Sales, but in her spare time, Karen makes the best of her out of office by relaxing at the beach, travelling and spending time with friends and family.

What’s the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?
Sadly, I think this is what most people do these days, I immediately reach for my phone to check email notifications and messages received overnight. Living overseas and working in a global environment means there is non-stop communication 24/7. I’ll then switch on my computer whilst I make a cup of tea and have breakfast before I start my day.

Three items you can’t live without?

My mobile phone, Dermalogica skincare and a toothbrush. As long as I have these items for an overnight trip, I’m good.

Complete the sentence: I’m happy when…
I’m travelling.

What do you love the most about your job?
Samujana is a beautiful unique villa rental property and I’m proud to represent them as Director of Sales. My job allows me to travel all over the world and build strong long lasting relationships with my clients from all over the world. Of course the best bit is always when achieving goals and contributing to the success of the company, that’s the ultimate in job satisfaction.

Where do you love to hang out in Dubai?
Anywhere that’s does a good brunch. I had the pleasure of being introduced to this by a friend who was living in Dubai at the time and understand it’s an institution.

What do you do to relax and unwind?
Living in Thailand there’s nothing better than a 2-hour massage on a day off. I find it relaxes my body but gives my mind a well deserved break.

What really annoys you?
Having to wait. Especially if it involves mealtimes. I can get really annoyed if I’m hungry. Waiting and hungry is not a good combination.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?
Remain confident, it’s the most powerful tool you can possess. Don’t overthink too much.

Did you have a plan B career path?

No, I always wanted to work in travel and realised my main interest was hotels as soon as I started to study.

Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?

Bear Grylls – it’s a practical choice.

What’s your personal motto?

Keep on keeping on. Work hard, find balance, be happy.

How do you want the world to remember you?

As a good person, mainly.
