Paris Fashion Week: Stella McCartney SS18

In the fashion world driven by trends, it’s nice to witness a collection with real substance and that’s exactly what you get with Stella McCartney SS18 line.

Known for her outspoken approach to eco-friendly designs and sustainability, McCartney presented a collection titled Trashion that feature some pieces created from 100% recycled material – including the invitations.

Now you might think it’s all going to be unwearable, but this British-born designer has a magical touch that has won her nods from the fashion critics for years, as well as a strong celebrity fan base which included Kylie Minogue sitting on the front row today.

The clothes carried an eighties feel with power shoulders, washed denim, crinkled fabrics in fuchsia pink and prom-like dresses dominating most of the runway. In the mix there were also ethnical prints on maxi gowns, airy jumpsuits and bright colour blocking.

Some of the offering had an undone, borderline masculine feel to them with tough boiler suits and jackets to flat sandals, but there was an understated sense of femininity felt through off-shoulder balloon-sleeve dresses, maxi ruffles, sheer skirts, blazers nipped at the waist, and trousers tied at the ankles to add a curvier shape. Best in show? Acid washed double denim with a boyish fit styled with pointed toe pumps.

High fashion is sustainable fashion, and it has never looked better.
