Adrenaline junkies should have Serbia in their sights this summer. The country’s well known for its hiking and cycling opportunities but that’s not all you’ll find there.

Go caving
With over 4,000 caves, those that love to get deep underground can either go on caving tours or there are more ‘unregulated’ guides who can show you wilder caves such as the Ušac Cave System near Sjenica which is over 6kms long.

Try free climbing
Think you’ve got some decent upper body strength? Serbia’s cliffs and mountains are perfect for those who want to pit themselves against the elements. Try sports climbing centres at Borski Sto, Gornjačka Gorge, Jelašnička Gorge, Ovčar and Kablar Gorge, Sićevo Gorge and the Valjevo mountains.

Book a white water raft trip
With plenty of rivers coursing through the country, watersports are well organised and easy to do. Head to the river Lim for a whitewater raft challenge or the river Ibar which has plenty of waterfalls and rapids along a 25km route. For those that want something even more racy, try the Tara which has over 100kms of rafting descents.

Get canyoning
This fast growing sport hasn’t missed Serbia, which has several suitable canyons such as the Tribe canyon and the Brusnice canyon in Tara National Park. Each guest receives a training sessions and neoprene suits before you climb, cave and swim your way through the route.
