Yesterday, Dolce & Gabbana debuted their Men’s Fall 2017 collection, which was inspired by The New Princes, the new Millennials. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana selected 49 Millennials to bring to life their latest Menswear collection, who were made up of predominantly young, YouTube and Instagram influencers; “These guys are representative of millions of young people. We are not so young anymore. So it’s very interesting for us to try to understand what they love and don’t love.” Stefano Gabbana stated.

Global social media star, Cameron Dallas opened the show in a black and burgundy suit as singer Austin Mahone performed as models and millennials walked the runway. Mr. Dolce and Mr. Gabbana allowed each Millennial to select and style their own look so as to express themselves, resulting in many surprising the designers by opting for more tailored looks. Sofia Richie led a female cast, all who wore lingerie styled to their individual personalities.

Morning jackets were paired with customized denim jackets and over sized puffer coats were worn over pajamas. Robes were worn as light coats and sweaters were elaborate and hand woven. Bombers were shown in military, aviator and varsity styles and sneakers were were either elegant and luxurious or more edgy, featuring an elegant brand signature or more of a sketched and personalised.

Mr Dolce and Mr Gabbana have really tapped into the culture of social media and have used it to their advantage. Their new millennials show showed the audience that the next generation’s opinion really is what matters and the show was indeed a spectacle, for all the right reasons.
