The MICHELIN Guide has officially arrived in Qatar, with its inaugural selection of the finest dining establishments in Doha unveiled at a ceremony in the Raffles Doha.

The 2025 MICHELIN Guide highlights the city’s burgeoning culinary scene, celebrating a total of 33 restaurants, including two newly-minted One MICHELIN Star recipients and four Bib Gourmand honourees.

MICHELIN Star Winners
The coveted One MICHELIN Star has been awarded to Jamavar and IDAM by Alain Ducasse. Jamavar, a sister venue to its London counterpart, impressed inspectors with its masterful Indian cuisine crafted by Chef Debdash Balaga, particularly the slow-cooked Laal Maas. Meanwhile, IDAM, helmed by Chef Fabrice Rosso, marries Alain Ducasse’s signature refinement with Qatari influences, creating a distinctive dining experience enriched by local ingredients and spices.

Bib Gourmand Honours
The Bib Gourmand, recognising exceptional food at a reasonable price, was awarded to four outstanding establishments:

  • Isaan: Known for its lively open kitchens and authentic Thai flavours.
  • Jiwan: Celebrating Qatari cuisine with a modern twist, located in the Qatar National Museum.
  • Argan: A Moroccan culinary gem situated at Souq Waqif.
  • Hoppers: Delivering vibrant Sri Lankan and South Indian dishes, a spin-off from its popular London location.

Special Awards Celebrate Industry Excellence
The MICHELIN Guide also spotlighted standout professionals with its Special Awards:

  • Young Chef Award: Sirijan Saelee of Isaan, recognised for her exemplary leadership and culinary innovation.
  • Service Award: Paulo Bastos and his team at Morimoto, commended for their impeccable and engaging hospitality.
  • Exceptional Cocktails: Robi Ratan at IDAM, praised for creative mocktail pairings that enhance the overall dining experience.

Commenting on the launch, Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the MICHELIN Guide, noted, “This inaugural selection not only celebrates the best of Doha’s dining scene but also puts the city on the international culinary map. The diversity and talent in Doha’s kitchens are a testament to the creativity and dedication of its chefs and hospitality professionals.”
