First Look: Etro Fall 2018 Men’s Collection

Etro celebrates its 50 years with an extravagant presentation in Palazzo del Ghiaccio part of Men’s Fashion Week in Milan; the unique collection takes us on a deep journey into the personal life of the Etro Man.

The Dandy Detour themed installation invites us into the home of a wise and curious man, who represents an intellectual yet bold character. The Fall 2018 collection features an intense focus on tapestry materials and hand-craftsmanship methods of super-rich textiles, where Navajo weaving, Persian and Celtic fabrics are reimagined on wool coats, parkas and bomber jackets.

We witness a strong use of jacquard on colourful wool blazers and long coats; plus luxurious velvet and corduroy thick trousers came in various bright shades. Of course the collection was scattered with the brand’s signature paisley print, which appeared on industrial-inspired coats, and embroidered in acid orange on a velvet bomber and camel-coloured leather jackets.

The vibrant collection also displayed a wide-range of colours, from deep blues, to regal purples, popping pinks and royal greens. Silhouettes are exaggerated, with high-waist wide legged wool trousers and considerable over-sized pleats.

Giving a strong nod to the ‘70s, shirt collars appear in long tips and floor-length cardigans came in rich wool, elaborated with refined jacquard designs and looping swirls of leather. This season’s footwear included leather work boots, corduroy loafers and calf skin desert boots decorated with wide buckles.

Men’s Fashion Week: Prada Fall 2018

For the very first time in many years, Prada decides to debut its latest men’s show in a new location in Milan. Not too far away from the company’s headquarters, the show was staged at a warehouse in Viale Ortles 35, which was a way to celebrate the brand’s new project- their collaboration with four creative artists, Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Konstantin Grcic, Herzog & de Meuron and Rem Koolhaas — where each delivered a unique design by using Prada’s signature nylon material for the runway.

Miuccia Prada’s Fall 2018 menswear collection combined high-end streetwear fashion with industrial extravagance, featured through boxy silhouettes, chic colourful attires topped with black bucket hats, which was an obvious ‘90s inspired statement.

In celebration of the signatures of architects and designers, the lineup features plenty of patterns that keep both men and women designs in harmony. One must say that Miuccia’s industrial spin contrasted perfectly well with her iconic Italian trench coat design. The collection focused on multi-layering, which drew attention to its industrial glam ensembles.

Men’s Fashion Week: Versace Fall 2018

Donatella Versace’s Fall 2018 menswear introduced a standout punk collection with exaggerated bright colours, mixed plaid and printed silks.

Referencing the post-modern times, the designer combined different tartan shapes on men’s and women’s outerwear pieces and quilted shirts. Models wore layered turtlenecks and knit sweaters in vivid hues of orange, pop pink and lime green, under pinstriped tailored suits.

Tiger prints scattered across short and long coats, and surely this time Versace went big, especially with the punk rock looking combat boots with super-thick soles and gold buckles and studs.

One must say that this collection was one of Versace’s best, where she re-inveted the rules and boundaries of  today’s time modern man.

Men’s Fashion Week: Emporio Armani Fall 2018

Heavy layering and loose silhouettes was all that mattered at the Giorgio Armani house. Also, the creative designer was famous for his signature easy tailoring and boxy shapes, but this time around the he threw all that out of the window, and introduced a modern collection full of minimised and tight silhouettes.

Tailored jackets came with narrow shoulders, short sleeves, and cuffed cropped straight-cut. Models cascaded in luxurious textures of velvet and wool, mostly all in midnight blue velvet grey tones.

Outerwear pieces on other hand were draped and loosely layered in a super luxe approach. There was just the right amount of swagger, with a refined selection of shearling jackets detailed with floppy lapels, and some other with oversized furry cuffs.

First Look: Dior Pre-Fall 18

Maria Grazia Chiuri is famous for keeping an eye on Millennial attitude, and with her pre-fall collection she finally blurs the gender line in a very subtle approach.

The entire collection features a mix between classic men’s tailoring with her iconic delicate gowns, and has taken inspiration from the works of Surrealist artist and photographer Claude Cahun; and Chiuri elaborates by saying, “Sometimes, when you read about that, you feel that people were more modern at the time than they are now.”

The creative designer experimented with numerous effects, while displaying thick wool knee-length coat matched with a pleated knit-dress in silver; and a black cape-sleeved velvet dress detailed with pleated navy chiffon that was equally feminine and strong. Also a sheer corset prevailed, which was worn once under a graphic black tight and another time with a tweed midi-skirt.

In other words, a modern woman is reborn.

Men’s Fashion Week: Ermenegildo Zegna Fall 2018

For Ermenegildo Zegna’s Fall’18, Alessandro Sartori put on a show that resembled a pretty fresh fantasy; inspired by the Alpine nature, the dense crowd and models’ head and shoulders were freely sprinkled with fluffy artificial snowflakes. The venue space was remarkable, set up by Swiss artist Thomas Flechtner in Milan’s Université Bocconi within the Brutalist hall.

Sartori sent out 45 strong looks to prance through the snow, which perfectly complemented the clothes. The collection featured vibrant rust-coloured patterns, with a bit of violent and light blue hues; the designer also experimented with a new fabric, the Oasi, a cashmere texture dipped in organic dyes made from natural substances.

Innovative outerwear options took a major part of the entire range, from refined tailored overcoats to long-felted coats in cashmere and new boxy anoraks. Also, there was a slight athletic approach, with details that included geometric necklines on knit tops, slit pockets on coats and folded pants tucked into high-top boot-sneakers.

Sartori has clearly conquered the future of menswear fashion by reinventing traditional aesthetics with the use of cleaner and simpler modernised concepts and technology.

The collection is beyond perfect for indoors and outdoors, click through the gallery above to view it in full.

Four Must-Have Dress Shoes

Pick Of The Week: Liquid Illuminators

Highlighter is one of the last products we apply to illuminate certain features and add definition. As good as this looks for the evening, sometimes we want an unfussed all over glow that delivers a natural finish.

Incorporating highlighter in your moisturiser or foundation is a seamless way to create an even and sheer effect that you’d normally get after a good night sleep. Liquid illuminators leave a glow, rather than depositing colour – just be sure to go easy on the T-zone areas when applying; oil production is heaviest there and highlighter can make your forehead, nose, and chin look shiny instead of luminous.

Chantecaille Liquid Lumière anti-aging illuminator gives a youthful glow while combating signs of aging, while NARS’ pearl-pink liquid formula is both foolproof and super flattering. You can apply a little throughout the day on your browbones, down the bridge of your nose and high on your cheekbones for a dazzling finish.

Shop our pick of liquid illuminators that are great for mixing and wearing on their own.

Breaking News: Men’s Creative Director Kim Jones To Leave Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall 2018 show is set to debut on Thursday January 18th.2018, which will sadly be Kim Jones’ final with the French Maison. The British menswear creative director will be exiting the brand effectively following his last Men’s show in Paris.

Joined in 2011, Jones has been famous for his outstanding trend setter moments at Louis Vuitton and is defined as big risk-taker artistic, especially after his big collaboration with Supreme.

The sudden news was declared by Louis Vuitton’s chairman and chief executive officer, Michael Burke, who in fact shares his wishes saying:

“Continued success in his next venture,” describing Jones as “the driving force behind some of the Maison’s most successful projects and collaborations.”

Of course, it is undefined who will be Vuitton’s next successor, and there are a lot of question marks about where Jones decides to go now. But if we go back to September 2017, Versace reportedly was interested in Jones, but nothing official has resurfaces; and another option could be Burberry, who also is about to part their ways with Christopher Bailey by the end of March.

We wonder what Jones has in store for us with his very last Louis Vuitton show, keep your eyes out!

Post Gym Beauty: Beating Redness

Nothing feels more invigorating than an effective workout at the gym, but if you’re prone to a beetroot like complexion at the end, we have just the the trick (or tricks) to help you beat the scarlet hue.

During exercise, your body and muscles generate energy causing the blood vessels in your skin to dilate, which allows the heat to escape through the skin to maintain a normal body temperature – hence the redness. Follow the tips below for a healthy glow with reduced redness.

Spray It

During exercise try and keep your body temperature low and use cooling spray like Oskia’s mist that is infused with a potent blend of vitamins, this formula refreshes, calms and detoxifies, as well as plumps and hydrates.

Moisture With Benefits

Switch your daily moisturizer to a cream designed for sensitive skin and select ingredients like thermal spring water, zinc or licorice extract that gives complexion more resilience. KORA Organics by Miranda Kerr’s soothing moisturizer contains nourishing primrose oil, pomegranate and chamomile for maximum antioxidant protection.

Exfoliate

Glycolic acid acts as a gentle chemical exfoliant, removing the top layer of dead skin cells to leave skin smooth and clean. It is best used with a moisturizer and once a week will do a trick to keep the redness at bay. Elizabeth Arden’s Skin Illuminating Retexturizing Pads gently works the outer layers of the skin, clearing away excess dirt and promoting renewal.
