When Hedi Slimane presented the new Celine collection during Paris Fashion Week, his mini sequin dresses raised eyebrows. Would a loyal fan of the house ,who under Phoebe Philo dressed in oversized tailoring, wear something like this?
Some thought not, but when you take a closer look at other designers that offer something short and dazzling, a little sparkly dress might not be such a bad idea – especially with the event season is in full swing.
From the FW18 runway shows, OTT glitter was spotted at Tom Ford, Saint Laurent, Balmain and Halpern with a particular emphasis on the 80’s silhouette – i.e super short with power shoulders. The trick is to embrace the sequins in its full capacity, because these dresses are designed for standing out.
Choose quality to avoid it looking ‘costume’ and go for slicked-back hair, minimal makeup and classic accessories that allow the attention to be purely on the high-shine number.

Swiss-based watch maison Roger Dubuis have been working on an exclusive timepiece and experience in collaboration with Mr Porter.
From November 19, the luxury shopping destination will welcome the watchmaker to their platform for the first time that will see a curated selection of seven models, along with an exclusive one-of-a-kind timepiece from the brand’s iconic Excalibur family – the Excalibur Aventador S.
Built in partnership between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini Squadra Corse, this unique watch houses a double sprung balance with a differential – both placed at 45-degree angle, and “engine strut bars” placed across the movement – highlighting design features of the Lamborghini V12 engine. These elements are placed within a light and agile titanium black DLC case. Ms Dorothée Henrio, International Marketing Director, Roger Dubuis, said in a statement:
“Roger Dubuis and Mr Porter share the taste of boldness to offer original style to the most avant-gardists customers. We are convinced that our highly complicated and rare timepieces have found the perfect place to express our roaring product story telling.”
Not only will you own an exceptional piece of watchmaking, but Roger Dubuis and Mr Porter will invite you to visit the brands home in Switzerland, followed by an exclusive Lamborghini driving experience throughout the Jura Mountains – now that’s what we call a smart purchase.
From scrubs made in the kitchen to face yoga, we rounded up the at home beauty hacks you can skip the spa for.
Depuff The Eyes
No one likes the sight of puffy eyes in the morning, so we suggest keeping two dessert spoons in the fridge for an instant pick-me-up. Diminish the bags under the eyes with cool upward strokes, make sure not to move the spoons back and forth.
Mascara Is Not Just For The Lashes
Next time you run out of the liquid eyeliner, just reach for your eyeliner brush and dip it into the tube of mascara. You’ll get an intense colour along the lash line and if you want staying power then choose a waterproof mascara. Tip: don’t forget to clean the brush after so it doesn’t harden.
Second Day Hair Never Looked Better
No beauty cupboard is complete without a dry shampoo and to get the best out of it, spray on the roots before bed. Don’t worry about rubbing it in as it will move as you sleep, just put the hair up in the silk scarf and brush out in the morning.
Bathe Like A Greek Goddess
Milk has softening elements but before you reach for a bottle of the skimmed variety, listen up. The easiest way to hydrate your skin is to add a cup of powdered milk to your bath and enjoy the nourishing benefits. While at it, use a couple of drops of lavender oil for a nice relaxing scent.
Non-Surgical Way To Plumper Lips
Face Yoga is one of the best ways to lift and plump up the complexion without having the need for any invasive procedures. Our favourite move is for the lips. Make a kiss face and then press your index finger on them as though you’re shushing. Then push the finger away with the lips while keeping the pressure on your pout. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat.
Clear The Pores
We’ve all seen our mum’s with their heads under a towel over a steaming bowl of hot water. Steam is one of the best ways to open up the pores which then allows for products to soak in even deeper. We use bags of camomile tea to infuse ours.
Fresh Toes
Use sea salt granules for an effective foot scrub. Just add a teaspoon of coconut oil, two teaspoons of olive oil, fresh mint diced or peppermint oil and banish those dry heals. Tip: before bed, rub either coconut or olive oil on your heals and slip on a pair of socks for overnight softness.
You may have to give your black ensembles a break this Fall as there’s a new go-to hue all the fashion insiders are wearing.
Once seen as a dated or a corporate shade, brown is making a comeback thanks to new versions from brands like The Row, Chloe and CASASOLA. Look for chocolate, caramel, and milky coffee tones and don’t be afraid to mix and match textures and proportions.
Wearing it head to toe in a form of a suit brings out the 70’s vibe. To keep it retro choose corduroy, but if you want to add a modern element then pair with bulky loafers or slides. For something a little more elegant, transition your go-to satin midi skirt in a dark chocolate by adding an oversized knit in a warm toffee tone, or slip a cashmere jacket over a midi dress in a chic shade of mocha.
Click through the gallery above to see more effortlessly elegant ways to add this new winter hue into your wardrobe.

Lady Gaga’s style transformation throughout the press tour of the movie A Star Is Born has won her nods from the fashion crowd, especially when she wore the feathered Valentino dress in Cannes.
But for her latest public appearance she swapped the gowns for something a little more paired back, and yet just as effective.
The singer chose an oversized masculine suit from the Marc Jacobs SS19 collection that not only looked effortless, but also showcased a relaxed version of power dressing. Structured through the shoulders with fluid lines at the waistline, it made a statement without shouting. Instead, it was her own voice that spoke through the outfit as she took to the stage at Women in Hollywood event and said:
“As a sexual assault survivor by someone in the entertainment industry, as a woman who is still not brave enough to say his name, as a woman who lives with chronic pain, as a woman who was conditioned at a very young age to listen to what men told me to do, I decided today I wanted to take the power back. Today I wear the pants.”
She is not the only one to swap a dress for a power suit with Tracee Ellis Ross wearing a pink Pyer Moss ensemble with black accents to host the American Music Awards earlier this month.
It seems like the perfect time to armour yourself with a maxi suit.

South Africa’s recent past has given voice to a new generation of creators, that are forming ideas shaped by race, culture and identity.”
“With every community we’ve explored, Sole has looked to build a direct bridge between our city and theirs. This exchange of ideas will be showcased through our talks, live music programme, screenings and presenting brands at this year’s event,” he added.

Gabriela Hearst ‘Nina’ and ‘Demi’ bags have become the go-to style for the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Anne Hathaway and even Meghan Markle – who has recently announced that she’s expecting her first child with husband Prince Harry.
Born in Uruguay, designer Gabriela Hearst grew up on her family’s ranch surrounded by horses which has inspired her equestrian-chic label that she launched in 2015. The brand reflects a slower pace and process: where things are made with care and detail, where tradition is more important than trend.
Hearst’s commitment is to make a strong and modern collection without compromising her ethics and key values, taking into consideration where materials come from and who is making them: luxury with a conscience or in other words, “honest luxury”. She launched Nina Bag in 2016 which started as a limited edition series bag and now has an extensive waiting list after selling out on all major e-commerce platforms within hours.
Her bags reached a cult status and feature a rounded shape with folded in corners and an arced handle. The distinctive style comes in a variety of finishes, from Meghan’s satin emerald green number, to Priyanka’s neutral tone in super soft leather.

According to research, by 2025 millennials will make up a whopping seventy-five percent of the global workforce, and with that, will become pivotal in the success of companies globally.
Although some negative characteristics have been attributed to the millennial – popular labels include “self-entitled”, “lazy” and “lacking persistence” – they do bring to the table new approaches, skills and methods that can be useful, if not critical, to a company’s evolution and survival in a future dominated not only by millennial payroll, but millennial clients, customers and stakeholders.
Whether you like it or not, the rise of the millennial has begun, to be underestimated at our peril. CEO of Al Samadi Group and Forever Rose London, Ebraheem Al Samadi, shares his tips on how to incorporate the millennial mindset into your business.
Why?
It is important to clearly explain to millennials why the skills they are learning are relevant and crucial to their personal and professional development. More than most, they need to be inspired and require direct understanding to the benefits of learning outcomes. Take the time to sit down and provide the reasoning behind workplace objectives and how the millennial fits into the structure. Not only will it provide them with a sense of importance, but they will also be able to clearly understand what is required and work towards a common company goal.
Tech-savvy
If millennials are experts in anything, it’s technology. With continual advancements, it is important for all employees to have a degree of understanding in this field. As a company, take advantage of tech-savvy millennials for bettering the business. Encourage them to learn how to use new software to be implemented across the company in order to make jobs easier and efficient, then have them teach those who may struggle in this retrospect. This will provide an opportunity for all involved to learn valuable skills and create bonding between the different generations within the business.
Teamwork
Over the years, education has become focused on teaching through teamwork, with it attributed to strengthening collaborative thought. As a company, use this style of training to encourage co-workers to work together as a team. This will introduce the opportunity for communication practices and increase overall trust between colleagues when it comes to working together.
Change and purpose
Millennials are seen as far more willing to come up with ideas and try alternative methods than other generations. Being open to change, they are interested in finding opportunities for company growth that may not have been explored in the past. Encourage this style of thinking by arranging brainstorming sessions and team meetings where employees are open to sharing their ideas when it comes to company strategies and concepts. This will allow for “out of the box” thinking which will be beneficial for the company’s growth and production.

Deep hues of red and burgundy are ideal for Fall and can feel just as appropriate for day as they do for night, just keep the rest of the makeup look clean.

We all know someone who had a nightmare experience with a tenant or landlord so to avoid future conflicts, The Rental Disputes Centre (RDC) in Dubai has launched a new initiative. Judge Abdulqader Mousa, Director of the RDC at DLD, said in a statement:
“The new service implements the initiatives offered by the Centre to reduce rental disputes and was initiated following the monitoring of several cases where a tenant rents a unit and only pays the first instalment of the agreed total cost. At the end of the contract, the same person rents another unit and repeats the act in other properties, exposing the leaser to severe losses. This service will assist real estate management companies in finding rental information of a person they intend to contract with and avoid such mishaps.”
The Rental Good Conduct (RGC) Certificate service, first-of-its-kind initiative, will allow both parties to search the history of past disputes and gain a little background before agreeing on a contract – all the information given does not violate the country’s confidentiality laws.
The service, that can be accessed thought RDC app, will highlight any rental-related rulings issued against the other party and tenants can look further into the history of the landlord by simply entering their full name and Emirates ID number.

Over the last five years, designer Michael Kors has been working towards a world with zero hunger with initiative Watch Hunger Stop.
Ahead of World Food Day on October 16, the brand has unveiled a series of concepts surrounding their annual campaign to fight global hunger in partnership with The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). Last year, WFP provided school meals to more than 18 million children in 60 countries.
“Hunger is a global problem but it’s also a solvable one,” said Michael Kors. “However much you choose to get involved, you will make a real difference in someone’s life. One of my dreams is to see a world with Zero Hunger, and we are working hard with the United Nations World Food Programme to make that a reality. I’m proud of what Watch Hunger Stop has been able to accomplish so far, but we’re not done. So we continue to work together to zero.”
For this addition, Kors has once again enlisted the help of actor Kate Hudson, long-time supporter of Watch Hunger Stop, with Hailee Steinfeld participating in the initiative for the first time. In a statement, singer and actor said:
“All children deserve to have their basic needs met in order to fulfill their greatest potential. If we band together, we can end hunger for good.”
This year the campaign also includes a partnership with a multi-media artist Eli Sudbrack who decorated limited edition T-shirts with his signature artistic flair. Style it your way and easily show support by posting a picture on your Instagram feed with the hashtag #WatchHungerStop and Michael Kors will donate 100 meals through the United Nations World Food Programme.
Special-edition watches have also been a part of the Watch Hunger Stop effort since its inception, with 100 meals donated to WFP for each watch sold. This year, the iconic Runway watch features a gold-tone case in a slimmer profile with a detailed map of the world on a turquoise-hued dial.
During this month, you can also make a donation directly to WFP at the register in select Michael Kors stores around the globe.
One of the classic Disney animations is getting a makeover and we just got our first peek at the live action film.
Aladdin is the next childhood favourite to get a remake by a stellar British director Guy Ritchie and an impressive cast including Egyptian actor Mena Massoud who takes on the lead role of a ‘street rat’ navigating the alleyways of Agrabah before falling in love with a beautiful Princess Jasmine, played by Naomi Scott.
The teaser opens up with a birds eye view of the desert dunes as a familiar theme tune Arabian Nights plays over the top. Then we see parrot Iago, who is Jafar’s sidekick, sweep into the scene as the Cave of Wonders appears in a shape of a lion’s head. This is where Aladdin first discovers the magic lamp and the Genie, a role played brilliantly by the late Robin Williams in the 1992 film, re-imagined by Will Smith in the latest version.
Apart from giving a classic tale a fresh spin, this production of Aladdin will also see a brand new character. Described as Princess Jasmine’s handmaiden and friend, Nasim Pedrad will be playing Mara in the movie due for release in May next year.
Today Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in a wedding gown created by a British design duo Peter Pilotto.
Unlike the past two royal weddings between Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011 and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in May this year, Princess Eugenie chose not to wear a veil but instead doned a Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara, lent to her by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II which was originally created by Boucheron in 1921.
The dress was elegant, classic and modern and had a feature that Eugenie insisted on – a sweeping back that showed scars from an operation she had in 2002 to straighten her spine, also known scoliosis. Meaningful symbols were also embroidered into the full skirt of the gown including a thistle as a tribute Balmoral, a shamrock to reflect the bride’s roots, and a rose and ivy to represent the couple’s home. She paired the dress with Charlotte Olympia heels and kept her makeup natural with Bobbi Brown products.
As the ninth in line to the throne joined Brooksbank at the alter, he was seen saying “You look perfect.” The couple then made their vows in front of 800 guests like Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell, Ellie Goulding, Demi Moore and Kate Moss as well as senior members of the royal family including Kate Middleton wearing Alexander McQueen and Meghan Markle choosing Givenchy for the occasion.
Following the one-hour long ceremony, the newlyweds headed off to the first of two receptions. An afternoon soiree was hosted by the Queen with guests indulging in finger foods and wedding cake while listening to emotional speeches from Princess Eugenie’s father and now husband. Then the happy couple, along with selected guests, made their way to her parent’s house – The Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park – that had a fairground set up in the garden. Naturally, the couple travelled there in style in a rare DB10 Aston Martin.
The celebrations are due to continue tomorrow with a more laid back itinerary, but we are sure it will be just as fabulous.

Still mourning ‘old Celine’? Worry no more as team A&E went through the SS19 shows with a fine style comb and found other designer that can fill the Phoebe Philo shaped hole.
We, among other fashion lovers, are still adjusting to Hedi Slimane’s vision for the French brand which under Philo was associated with powerful tailoring, oversized silhouettes and feminine yet modern workwear – a complete polar opposite to his sensual mini cuts and sequined pieces.
Picking up on the general mood surrounding Slimane’s debut, Toronto-based Gabrielle Boucinha launched Instagram account @oldceline where he shares runway, campaign and shoot images featuring Philo’s creations, and in just one month it gained over 70,000 followers including head of Louis Vuitton Men Virgil Abloh and style writer Leandra Medine.
Philo’s Celine was all about empowering women through natural beauty and understated yet extremely beautiful clothing. Below, we look to the designers who also speak the new language of femininity.

Presenting the now and the new from the world of colourful precious stones that every woman should own.
Leading jewellery houses know what pleases the eye, and in most cases it’s vibrant colours and anything that sparkles. Bringing two of these desires together in one piece of jewellery has an instant appeal as not only a bold turquoise necklace can dress up an outfit, but it can make a woman feel instantly uplifted.
It’s a youthful alternative to the traditional idea of high-jewellery, especially when brands play with shapes and positioning of the stones to appeal to customers hungry for unique designs that can showcase their personality.
For the October Issue, we wanted to focus on the classic and latest releases from a range of jewellery houses in order to showcase the vast variety of pieces that can add a wow factor to an evening gown, or elegantly dress up a white shirt and jeans.
When selecting, consider the occasion and wearability. Bold earrings in a chandelier design create a bigger impact than delicate studs, while a stacking of bangles can act as a day-to-day alternative to a wide sparkling cuff. Also, think about longevity as there is something truly special in investing in a piece that can be passed down through generations.
