There was an excited buzz in the room for the first ready-to-wear collection from couture favourite Ralph and Russo.
This is a step in the right direction for the design duo Tamara Ralph and Michael Russo to reach a wider clientele who love the brand but desire something more wearable and versatile for everyday.
Collection was packed full of pieces that can easily take you from day to night. There were metallic cocktail jackets that would match perfectly with denim and separates that you can dress up or down.
Sheer fabric and pastel trends have continued from New York Fashion Week to London with Ralph and Russo presenting delicate and well cut dresses for the evening the aesthetic that the house is loved for.

It serves modern British-Mediterranean with some sweet treats for you take away at the end.
Bread Street Kitchen
If you’re a fan of Gordon Ramsay, one of the most known British chefs in the world, then you have to venture onto the Palm to sample some modern cuisine at Bread Street Kitchen. With a buzzing atmosphere, it is a great spot for lunch and serves really delicious ice cream.

This Is The Perfect Getaway
We headed down to Harvey Nichols in the Mall of the Emirates to get a first hand experience of the Dolce & Gabbana sneaker pop-up.
Personlisation has become a big trend among the fashion savvy who want to show off their individuality in a stylish way. At the pop-up for both men and women, you are in charge of the final look and will come away with a bespoke item that is completely you.
Set up across Levels 1 and 2 of the store, start by choosing your perfect sneakers. All have a raised platform and are designed for comfortable wear throughout the day.
Next head on over to the creative team and choose your embroidered patches. We hear ‘King’ and the ‘crown’ are especially popular with men, clearly not shying away from making a statement.
Then visit the artists who will hand paint on anything you want, be it a favourite quote or a name. The choice is vast, the only thing you’ll struggle with is how not to get carried away.
Ideal as a gift to yourself or someone special, you have up to the end of October to create your own masterpiece. And if sneakers aren’t your thing, you also have an option of decorating one of their T-shirts.

Must-Have Boots For LFW
New York Fashion Week Day 8 was a strong finale to the the first installment of the fashion month with the likes of Marchesa and Marc Jacobs presenting strong collections for SS18.
Fairytale dreams were made at Marchesa with flowing gowns worthy of the Oscars, while Delpozo continued to experiment with shapes and colours to deliver an elegant and youthful collection.
If you ever wondered what a glamorous summer in the Hamptons looks like, then check out Michael Kors. It is all about the ease of summer with dip dye print and lightweight dresses. Front row included Mario Testino, Nicole Kidman, Naomi Watts and Catherine Zeta Jones with her daughter.
Marc Jacobs decided to strip it back with a simple set and no music to have our full focus on the collection. He exaggerated prints and mixed fabrics like nylon with silk to deliver a bold palette.
Trends To Know
There were two emerging trends from NYFW that you can start shopping now. The ice cream hues that were seen at Victoria Beckham, Tibi and Tom Ford will be your colour palette for next summer, especially the powder lavender shade.
As seen at Prabal Gurung, Marchesa and Jason Wu, sheer fabrics have been reworked into something more delicate and wearable. It is about a subtle reveal with an overlayed sheer finish, rather than leaving nothing to imagination.
New Face
Bella and Gigi step aside as there is a fresh model on the runway with some serious style DNA. Kaia Gerber, daughter of Cindy Crawford, has officially entered the fashion world and walked for Calvin Klein, Alexander Wang, Fenty Puma, Coach and also closed Marc Jacobs. Not bad for a 16-year-old newbie.

Gowns, gowns and more gowns. For SS18 Marchesa continued with their signature aesthetic of dramatic shapes, intricate embroidery, 3D florals, embellishment and sheer tulle.
No brand gets the fashion elite swooning over gowns like Marchesa and on the last day of New York Fashion Week there was plenty of smiles and bright eyes as model after model elegantly walked down the runway in dreamy creations.
Japan was the influence with Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig looking to Aimee Crocker’s travels to the East. It was back in the 1920s when the the explorer left everything behind to settle into a new life of Buddhism surrounded by cherry blossoms and pearls.
Those elements play a big part in Japanese culture so it’s no surprise that organza flowers and pearl embellishment dominating throughout. The shapes were feminine with open shoulders which were cinched at the waist and there were also a touch of elegant tailoring.
Minimalism is not the word you’d apply to Marchesa but why would you want to escape from this fairytale that took hundreds of hours to create? Their pieces are never driven by trends, but by the love of having something exceptionally beautiful for life.
We expect to see a lot of these gowns on the red carpet in the weeks to come.

Latest from New York Fashion Week
Would you travel two hours of town to watch a runway show in a car garage? You would if it’s Ralph Lauren.
The designer whisked 300 guests out of New York to Bedford to present Fall 2017 set among his own private car collection of Ferraris, McLarens and Bugatti.
“My cars have always been an inspiration to me. I see them as moving art. My women’s collection for Fall 2017 connects the elements of the speed, style and beauty of these handcrafted vehicles with the very modern, yet timeless spirit of the clothes” said Ralph Lauren.
Jessica Chastain and Katie Holmes were among the select attendees privileged to see the latest line up which had a heavy focus on grey tweed and leather trenches alongside racing stripes and bomber jackets over suits.
The collection featured both men’s and women’s wear for the first time which were modeled by Presley Gerber (Cindy Crawford son, and brother to newbie Kaia Gerber), Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner.
Elegant tuxedo dressing, with details inspired by pieces from Ralph Lauren’s personal wardrobe, were evident throughout the collection. Crafted with the same time-honored techniques used for Ralph Lauren Purple Label, these pieces represent the season’s expression of men’s formal wear for the modern woman.
“To heighten the experience, men wearing looks from my Purple Label Collection will join the women on a runway lined with my cars in the pristine environment of my garage. This will create the ultimate expression of style and luxury for the woman and man of today” added Lauren.
Signature details in Purple Label formal wear culminate in surprising takes on classic American style. Dinner jackets in sartorial velvet, twill with suede fringe detailing and silk jacquards with American West motifs underscore the statement of self-expression for evening.
After the show, guests enjoyed a sit down dinner of lobster salad, Polo Burgers followed by caramel popcorn and peppermint tea before being driven back to the city.
Now that’s a Ralph Lauren experience.

Best Fragrances For Fall
Our pick of the best dressed at the Toronto International Film Festival 2017.
For Gucci Cruise 2018 Men’s Campaign focusing on tailoring, the house turned to legendary, but slightly forgotten personality , Harlem couturier Daniel “Dapper Dan” Day.
Creative director Alessandro Michele continues to surprise the fashion world (have you seen giant art works for Gucci Bloom?) and this time he enlisted a man renowned for the made-to-order custom designs he created for celebrity clients in the 80s and early 90s, before his eponymous boutique was closed down and he went ‘underground’.
Now Michele has brought Daniel Day on board for the men’s campaign, shot on the streets of Harlem by photographer Glen Luchford, and will work with him on a capsule collection.
How did this come about? For the Cruise 2018 show, Gucci replicated a design made by Day in 1989 without crediting the couturier. This was followed by some controversy that lead to the fashion house meeting with Dapper Dan and the rest is now history.
If there is one person who can revive an old hit, you can trust Michelle to deliver and then some.

After seasons of presenting edgier millennial-friendly collections and collaborating with the likes of Selena Gomez, Stuart Vevers has revived Coach into one of the coolest brands to know.
Keith Haring was the inspiration for the darkly glamorous SS18 collection celebrating the party crowd on the seventies and eighties. Haring’s cartoon characters decorated leather jackets and sweatshirts which are bound to become a popular choice among the savvy shoppers.
The handbags have grown in popularity since Verve took over in 2013 and the new design incorporating floral hardware, slogan patches, and Haring’s signature love hearts are a sure way to get the boxy shapes flying off the shelves. The shoes also had their Instagram moment with glitter boots being snapped by everyone on the front row as they marched down the dazzling runway.
The collection is for dressing up with a sense of individuality and edge. The satin slips will be styled with the tough leather bikers while sequin lined trousers will match up with the satin bombers.
New York glamour with a bit of grit – now that’s the gang we want to be a part of.

As the crowds gathered to watch the anticipated launch of the new technology from Apple, there was one thing on everyone’s mind – iPhone X.
And it didn’t disappoint.
The new iPhone X (pronounced iPhone 10) offers a full screen and no Home button. As you no longer have to use the Home button to unlock your iPhone, all you do is tap the screen or pick it up. You can still activate Siri with ‘Hey Siri’ or just push the button on the side. Wireless charging is another feature added to the collection.
Face ID was a big part of the launch with the new technology being able to scan your features (and update details as you face changes through time) to unlock the phone and even access Apple Pay.
We are mostly taken with the fact that facial recognition tech allows you to create facially-tracked animated emojis – we always wanted to be a unicorn.
The front camera also gets an update and will let you take “Portrait Mode” photos, perfect for selfies. All these features have cast a shadow over iPhone 8 which was also announced during the presentation.
Get ready to line up at the nearest Apple store in the region on November 3.

There are some brands that are ideal for the Middle East and we are happy to say that Zimmermann is one of them.
The luxurious fabrics, feminine design and flattering shapes make it a sure sell out for all year round sunshine. The SS18 collection was no different with the front row swooning from look after look of flowing fabrics, boho details and whimsical floral prints.
The inspiration from Gold Coast of Australia as well as the beachside suburbia photography from the ’60s and ’70s was clear in hippie-summer chic cut-out dresses paired with sneakers and embroidered separates with woven bum bags that had that Zimmermann flair we have grown to love.
High neck maxi dresses stood out along with the feminine approach to board shorts which would go beautifully with the striped knitwear, perfect for a day out on a yacht.
Bum bags played a role in the lineup and are ideal for a no-fuss summer outfit. To add some sparkle, Nicky Zimmermann added statement earrings and charms to the ankle straps of the shoes – also spotted at Victoria Beckham.
Easy and breezy, exactly what we need on our sunny shores.

There are those who spend hours in front of the mirror perfecting their hair, and there are those who brush through and go.
Whichever category you fall into, the key to a good hair day lies in the care and products you use.
Samantha Lloyd from Chaps & Co Barbershop in the Dubai Design District gives us a breakdown of the do’s and don’ts, as well as expert hair tips for men.
DO invest in products.
Wash your hair with good quality shampoo and conditioner. Paying that little bit extra for a quality shampoo will make a positive and lasting difference.
Use: The best male grooming products available at the moment would be the BBA (British Barbers Association), they are great for all hair types and work well against humidity and at the same time cleanses the scalp, ultimately leaving it easy to manage your products such as wax and gels.
DON’T use heat.
Hot water is a no, instead use warm cold or water as it is better for the hair and opens the cuticles to soak up the products.
DO add texture.
Another product we love to use at the barbershop is the texture dust. This creates amazing movement and volume for clients who want the look to last all day.
DON’T be afraid of colour.
More and more people are starting to take further pride in their appearance and want to look and make themselves feel confident. Hair colour is coming back slowly and positively as it covers up white hairs and allows you to feel young again.

Call it tartan or check— the plaid trend has been spotted everywhere on the streets of NYFW.
Plaid has always been considered classic and sophisticated. As a result it can easily match up with all of your everyday basics to create a polished outfit.
Plaid blazers are dominating the fashion scene in New York and we suggest wearing them with either jeans and T-shirt for a laid back vibe, or with a blouse, black trousers, and heels for an instant nine-to-five look. Our top pick has been Kate Bosworth bringing a touch of edgy elegance with a check-print Monse dress that she was spotted wearing outside Monse SS18 show.
Check out how the It girls at New York Fashion Week style the plaid trend below.

Victoria Beckham SS18 Collection
Catch Up On NYFW News From Day Four
One thing Victoria Beckham seems to do well collection after collection, is to bring a modern touch to a classic.
Take a pencil skirt for example. For SS18 it is sheer and pastel and is styled with a boxy long shirt giving it a feminine look but with a contemporary slouchy twist. This is exactly how women want to dress – comfortable yet well put together.
The relaxed fit continued with her mid length kilts and pyjama sets – all elevated with luxe fabrics like jacquard. The sheer and delicate silk pieces along with ruffles virtually danced as the models marched down the runway carrying a sense of youthful gentleness.
Pastels dominated, and have been spotted across other shows this week, but they were not overly girly. Somehow Beckham managed to find the right balance between innocence and adulthood with staple pieces like slim lilac pants and structured blazers.
Accessories also stood out with with lilac and mint colour shoes and more whimsical elements like charm anklets and glitter mules.
Wearable, stylish, modern and elegant – bravo.

Street Style Trend At NYFW
Was there a riot in Brooklyn last night? More of a fashion riot as Alexander Wang took over the whole street to showcase ‘Wangfest’ SS18 collection.
Metal barricades lined the streets which crowd of fans lined behind in anticipation for what looked to be one of the coolest shows at NYFW. After almost an hours delay a black tour bus pulled up and out came Kaia Gerber and marched down the pavement to the cheer of the onlookers.
With model after model, including Bella Hadid and Kendall Jenner, Wang created the must-have pieces of any Coachella goer next year. There was a lot of black, edgy hardware and headpieces with logo’s like Party Animal written on them.
Mixed in with all the mini dresses and structured separates, there was plenty of tailoring with loose long zip up blazers and oversized shirting. Streetwear also dominated with cargo pants styled with a leather black corset over a white lace top.
Through all the toughness there was a gentle sense of femininity with satin fabrics, lace trim camis stitched together with sweatshirts and shirts, chic tweed jacket with oversized distressed denim, sequin crop tops and tailored trousers with round-the-waist sleeves. The collection is as ideal for a girl who loves blazers over slip dresses as well as a girl who you’d spot crowd surfing at rock concert.
Now that’s a festival we can get on board with.

Latest Shows From New York Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week Day Three brought us more colour and sense of celebration for Spring/ Summer 2018.
It all kicked off with a garden soiree for the Tory Burch SS18 show attended by many fans of her take on laid back luxury wear including Emily Blunt.
Jeremy Scott celebrated the brands 20th anniversary. Whether you’re a fan of his flamboyant designs or somewhat unsure, you have to give credit to a man who takes risks and has stuck to his identity throughout his bright career. As you would expect it was an extravagant show which revisited some of his archives with an added twist and were modelled by the likes of his long time muse Devon Aoki as well as Gigi Hadid, Jourdan Dunn and Coco Rocha.
Elsewhere, it was a New Orleans affair at Kate Spade presentation with a brass brand blasting some jazz while models posed in floral prints and gold embroidery. We were especially taken with the ultra feminine shoes that included kitten heels with ankle-wrap straps, frilly slides, and studded and floral slip-ons.
Jason Wu created a more laid back collection with looser silhouettes, though some were given a touch of sparkle with Swarovski crystals.
It was a different story at Brandon Maxwell where drama ruled supreme with Karlie Kloss modelling the ball skirt which would make any maximalist bride happy. We also loved the white and black caped shirts paired with denim along with bright blazers and his bestselling cigarette and bootleg trousers. This is a collection for women who have their hair blow dried everyday and don’t go anywhere without a swish of their favourite lipstick.
One of our favourite regional brands All Things Mochi presented their Mexico collection and did what they do best. Embroidery, wearable silhouettes and fun accessories. Our top pick? The pink balloon sleeve top styled with a midi striped skirt.
The hijab and abaya took centre stage at Indonesian Diversity fashion show in New York celebrating variety and modest designs. Dian Pelangi was one of the designers leading the way presenting a line for affluent, modern, religiously observant Muslim woman.
It wasn’t only the clothes that were catching everyone’s eyes but also the unique venues, like 29 Rooms. Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum was the location for Tory Burch while Kate Spade chose Oyster Bar at Grand Central station. The more urban feel was found at Met Breuer for Rachel Comey show and Off White was based at 23 Wall Street.

Tory Burch invited guests to her garden party set among the manicured lawns of Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum.
As press and celebrities alike took their seats in the sunshine, models walked through the garden presenting the SS18 collection that would be a perfect fit any daytime soirée.
Bright colours seem to be dominating NYFW and it was no different at Tory Burch where the designer took inspiration from British interior designer David Hicks, whose known for the bold and adventurous use of colour and print.
The collection is comfortably stylish with long silk dresses, off shoulder blouses and easy-breezy trousers. These clothes are made to be worn in a relaxing beachside setting (hello Dubai) and it’s the luxe laid back style that a modern woman wants to wear. It’s no surprise that front row guests like Emily Blunt were snapping away, probably planning their next vacation with a Burch towel in hand.
