TOM FORD Reveals The House’s Winter 24 Campaign Shot In Shanghai

TOM FORD has revealed its new campaign for Winter 24, which it describes as an expression of a cinematic world captured in Shanghai.

Known to its inhabitants as Modu – literally translated as the Capital of Magic or Enchanting City – Shanghai’s fusion of hyper-modernity, speed and scale makes it the perfect location for a collection with unremitting focus: vibrant, concise and strong.

Three stories are told, anthology-style, through the perspectives of three distinctive characters. All shimmer in darkness and light.

High above the city, Fei Fei Sun is seen against a night sky. A glamorous voyeur, she scans the sprawling streets beneath her through a wall of glittering windows.

Wearing a mix of military-inspired tailoring and languid flou, of inky black sequins and midnight blue velvet, she is formidable.

Far below – by day and by night – Rianne Van Rompaey, in chubby shearlings, sinuous open-knit sheath dresses and bodysuits, faultless tailored jackets and pants – moves through a universe that is, by contrast, almost artificially bright. A retro-futuristic heroine, her environment morphs and glitches as intensity builds.

The story behind, Meng Yu Qi, the third character in this tryptic, takes another sharp turn. He is a resident in the city, taking in the sights and sounds of familiar streets at ground level, through a psychedelic lens, and with the louche elegance of a rockstar. His wardrobe complements that of his female counterparts: narrow leather coats and jackets, soft to the touch, elongated cigarette trousers. Like the women he is done and undone, sophisticated and sharp.

As the narrative crescendos, the three come together, fleetingly. Transient moments, charged with the promise of seduction, unite them, as does their clothing – always immaculately executed, worn by each with confidence and charisma, nonchalance and clarity, beauty and power.

Breiting Releases Limited Edition Pro Ironman Timepiece

Breitling has released a new 500-piece limited edition IRONMAN-branded Endurance Performance Pro timepiece to mark the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship triathlons.

The IRONMAN triathlon is one of the most famous single-day endurance races on the planet and is known for being a true test of heart, body, and soul.

The Endurance Pro IRONMAN marks the 2024 VinFast IRONMAN World Championship in Nice, France, on September 22, 2024 (women), and Kailua-Kona, Hawai‘i, on October 26, 2024 (men).

It is the ultimate in racing for extreme athletes. The VinFast IRONMAN World Championship is the culmination of all the global IRONMAN triathlon events, which see professional and age-group athletes alike compete for a qualifying slot in the pinnacle race on the long-distance triathlon calendar.

As part of this active partnership, Breitling is introducing a limited-edition Endurance Pro IRONMAN with a case made of lightweight titanium and the race’s uniquely inspired logo featured at 6 o’clock.

The rejuvenated IRONMAN logo reflects renewal and resilience, inspired by this year’s theme for the VinFast IRONMAN World Championship – “new life”, or “‘Ola Hou” in Hawaiian. The ama‘u plant above the M symbolizes resilience and new life and recalls the IRONMAN competitors’ fierce focus on achievement. The ferns and lavender on both the M and the dot are a fusion of Hawai‘i’s lush vegetation and the calming lavender of the fields of southern France.

This limited edition of 500 pieces comes on a blue rubber strap for maximum performance and durability and has the IRONMAN logo on the caseback.

“The spirit of the IRONMAN competition has much in common with the high-calibre precision and ruggedness of Breitling,” says CEO Georges Kern. “This watch was designed for the most arduous journeys and difficult physical challenges.”

“The will and strength to compete in an IRONMAN triathlon is worth commemorating as it reminds us of what we are capable of when we test limits and set out to achieve an ambitious goal,” adds Kern.

The limited-edition Endurance Pro IRONMAN is available only at Breitling.com and select Breitling boutiques and retailers.

MIU MIU To Debut New Film At The Venice Film Festival 2024

MIU MIU has announced its new film “El Affaire Miu Miu,” the 28th chapter of the Miu Miu Women’s Tales film series which will premiere at the Venice Film Festival’s Giornate degli Autori next week. The film is directed by Laura Citarella, an emerging voice in Argentinean cinema.

The movie will premiere at the Venice Film Festival’s Giornate degli Autori on August 31st, 2024.

Citarella (1981) is a film director and producer, born in La Plata, Argentina. Since 2005, she has been a member of El Pampero Cine. This independent organization over the last 20 years has experimented not only on an aesthetic level but also on ways of producing and showing films.

She is known for “Trenque Lauquen”(2022), “La mujer de los perros” (2015) and “Ostende” (2011).

The Women’s Tales project is an initiative of the brand by the creative director Miuccia Prada, in which international directors with different intellectual backgrounds express, through their short films, their own vision of the concept of femininity.

Discussing the project, the house said in the notes which accompanied the announcement, “Cinema can bring together, suddenly, the most remote, the most distant worlds, those we know the least about. What emerges from this combination is magical, beautiful and mysterious. Like a great and immense discovery”.

Louis Vuitton Unveils New Silk Scarf Collection Designed By Five Artists

Louis Vuitton has revealed a new collection of silk scarves designed by five renowned contemporary artists.

The exciting new collaboration, called LV Art Silk Squares sees five artists bring their unique visions to the lustrous blank canvas of the Louis Vuitton silk square – or carré, in French.

The creatives – German pixel-art collective, eBoy; Franco-Japanese-Spanish design duo, Icinori; Italian artist and illustrator, Lorenzo Mattotti; French graphic novelist and illustrator, Nicolas de Crécy, and Swiss artist, Thomas Ott – have all previously collaborated with Louis Vuitton, notably on the Maison’s illustrated “Travel Book” series.

For LV Art Silk Square, each explores the theme of the flower within the context of Louis Vuitton. By inventively reinterpreting the four-petal bloom that graces the Louis Vuitton Monogram, the artists bring new perspectives to the Maison’s iconic codes and rich heritage.

The artists’ stunning works are then meticulously transferred onto Louis Vuitton silk squares in Como, Italy, a world centre of silk craft and home to centuries of silk-working expertise.

Thanks to a continuous dialogue between the artists, the Louis Vuitton studio in Paris, and the Italian artisans with their remarkable mastery of both traditional and cutting-edge techniques, each stunning carré faithfully recreates the original artwork, a process that often requires multiple layers of colours to be printed onto the finest white silk.

The squares are then washed and dried before their edges are hand-sewn using a time-honoured technique known as roulottage. The rich, lustrous colours of the finished silk squares – designed to be worn in versatile ways or indeed framed – are alive with creative energy and pay testament to Louis Vuitton’s longstanding commitment to blending art and savoir-faire.

French Luxury House Trudon Reveals A Collection Inspired By Emirati Women

In tribute to Emirati Women’s Day, Trudon introduces a refined collection that captures the essence of Emirati women’s strength, elegance, and grace.

According to Trudon, the new release is inspired by the powerful stories and timeless beauty of Emirati women. The house’s latest duo – a mesmerizing fragrance paired with an exquisite scented candle – celebrates the spirit and sophistication that define the UAE’s women.
