How To Prep For A Facial In Dubai

Avoid Sun Exposure

Although it might be difficult in the city of near-year-round sun, it is important to limit sun exposure in the days leading up to your facial. Sunburn or excessive sun exposure can make your skin more sensitive and prone to irritation during the facial.

Communicate with Your Esthetician

Communication is key in the lead-up to your appointment. Inform your esthetician about any skincare concerns, allergies, or specific issues you want to address during the facial. They can tailor the treatment to meet your needs.

Avoid Exfoliating Products

This is similar to the sun exposure rule – refrain from using exfoliating products, retinoids, or harsh skincare treatments a few days before your facial. These products can make your skin more sensitive.

Stay Hydrated

Staying hydrated is always important for good skin care, but before having a facial this is even more true. Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your facial. Hydration is essential for healthy skin, and it can also help your skin recover more quickly from the facial treatment.

Cleanse Your Skin

Cleanse your face thoroughly on the day of your facial to remove any makeup, dirt, or oils. This allows the esthetician to work on clean skin.

Avoid Caffeine and Other Drinks Which Can Cause Dehydration

Steer clear of excessive caffeine and other drinks which can cause dehydration before your facial, as they can affect your skin quality and the results of your facial.

Fendi Releases Its SS24 Campaign Ahead Of Being In Shops This February

For Fendi’s latest collection, Kim Jones was inspired by the city of Rome, and the freedom, human imperfection and luxury that is found in “the comfort and quiet confidence of clothing.”

A sense of duality – a very Fendi quality – permeates the collection. Simultaneously pragmatic and playful, masculine tailoring and materials, such as the finest kid mohair, are applied to a more fluid and feminine sensibility when combined with silks and knits.

The traditional curtain waistband of tailored trousers is folded over to reveal its construction and often united with sinuous knitwear; the washed silk of an evening dress slips into the day-to-day; organza-backed strips of soft shearling – a utilisation of Fendi’s famed Featherlike construction – are made into towelling-like summer skirt suits with work shirts; an over-sized masculine car coat finds a feminine echo in metal anklet ballet car shoes, with a practical studded bottom employed for ease and grip. In short, masculine utility and comfort come together with a feminine flourish, with the agency of the wearer in mind.

Simultaneously, Fendi’s past is made present in recurring codes and motifs that stretch back to the beginnings of the House. The linking thread of the Selleria stitch ties all categories of the present collection together and back to the past of its fashion and leather goods.

From its initial inspiration and creation by Roman master saddlers, the Selleria finds form in leather bags and garments to eventually metamorphosing into metal thread hardware on shoes and is reiterated in Fendi Filo jewellery by Delfina Delettrez Fendi, Fendi Artistic Director of Jewellery. A playful and abstract exploration of the FF logo is once more found in the jewellery and in the clothing collection, where it reaches its bold apotheosis in completely abstract FENDI colour-blocking in intarsia leathers and structured, strapless knit dresses.

The off-kilter palette – itself a signature – is largely taken from Karl Lagerfeld’s Women’s Spring/Summer 1999 collection for the House where key dresses were also found and reworked such as the acid yellow coated linen slip and the trompe l’oeil silks made for today with silicone Framis prints.

In Silvia Venturini Fendi’s bags, Artistic Director of Accessories and Menswear, a plethora of styles, sizes, materials and techniques reflect the character of the different wearers. Eschewing the idea of one diktat, the collection takes in the sweep of FENDI pop iconography through FENDI Peekaboo and Baguette, Origami and First bags, while introducing the new Flip, a shopper that folds into a clutch, with a playful, colour-blocked construction.

Here there is a reiteration that there is not just one Fendi woman, but many Fendi women with an encouragement for them to be themselves and embrace the idea of Roman freedom.

The collection will be available in Fendi boutiques worldwide and on the Fendi website starting from the 8th of February.

Chloé Releases Nine New Highly Personal “Atelier Des Fleurs” Fragrances

The French luxury maison Chloé has unveiled a collection of nine new fabulously floral fragrances.

Discussing the new Atelier des Fleurs collection, in the notes which accompanied the release, the house said that each of the nine fragrances expresses floral, aromatic or woody notes, which live in harmony, in pairs or in threes, composed with natural ingredients.

To make the collection more personal Chloé invited renowned perfumers to choose their favourite scent – whether from a flower, a plant or the heart of an exclusive fragrance and share the story of why they love the scent.

Some responses included childhood memories, travel recollections and nostalgia for places or moments that marked their lives.

The talented perfumers then drew upon their olfactory memories to create a personal, intimate collection of fragrances steeped in authenticity for Chloé.

The collection

CEDRUS by Quentin Bisch

Behind this fragrance of woody, balsam and smoky scents lies the memory of young love and in particular, a gift: namely a bouquet that Quentin Bisch’s father gave to his mother when he was a child. It brings a tender and subtle elegance to the olfactory bouquet if given a minor role, or a warm and musky quality if it takes the lead.

ROSA DAMASCENA by Amandine Clerc-Marie

A crisp and spontaneous rose inspired by the concoctions of petals and wrinkled leaves Amandine Clerc-Marie enjoyed in her family garden when she was a little girl. A rose that gives an impression of botanical purity and a lightly spiced floral signature.

LAVANDA by Quentin Bisch

A fragrance of shadow and light was created by Quentin Bisch’s desire to capture the childhood vision of his mother walking from the heat of the garden into the cool shade of the house, a sprig of lavender in her arms. Quentin Bisch revisits this note with a highly modern twist while enhancing every facet of Provencal lavender from aromatic freshness to sun-drenched fullness.

MAGNOLIA ALBA by Louise Turner

A captivating fragrance with a heart of the fresh, almost creamy scent of magnolia petals that recalls the promise of sunny days in Louise Turner’s native England. To create this fragrance, Louise Turner was inspired by the smooth, plump and slightly lemony notes of magnolia blossoms in spring.

HIBISCUS ABELMOSCHUS by Domitille Michalon Bertier

With its sunny, slightly fruity scent and soft petals, hibiscus is the queen of the Polynesian gardens of Domitille Michalon Bertier’s childhood. The warm luminosity of the hibiscus blossom brightens the bouquet with opulent notes and musky, powdery lilts.

HERBA MIMOSA by Amandine Clerc-Marie

This tender, powdery fragrance echoes a memory from the perfumer’s youth: the awakened senses and stirred emotions of discovering the mimosa blooming in the hills of Grasse when she was 20. Mimosa blossoms with powdery, woody, vegetal and luminous facets that lend fullness to the composition.

NEROLI by Sidonie Lancesseur

For this interpretation of neroli, Sidonie Lancesseur let the memory of a trip to Seville be her guide: the orange blossoms exuded smooth and deliciously refreshing scents warmed by the sun. Neroli takes us on a true olfactory journey with lightly honeyed, comforting and addictive floral accents.

VERBENA by Mylène Alran

An aromatic verbena from her parents’ garden that Mylène Alran remembers rubbing between her hands as a child to keep the scent with her all day. In an olfactory composition, this verbena highlights the bouquet with a delicate lemony freshness and a natural radiance.

JASMINUM SAMBAC by Louise Turner

When creating this fragrance, Louise Turner thought of what she considers to be the most beautiful jasmine sambac of all: the one she smelled on Mother’s Day in Bangkok, where it is the gift of choice for that special occasion. The delicate, velvety jasmine petals, as if beaded with dewdrops, bring soft and sunny to a bouquet.

Suki Waterhouse

All across the campaign´s looks, soft shades, light textures, and plays on contrast –  fluidity and structure; opacity and sheerness – provide a fresh perspective that feels perfectly suited to the bright, warmer months to come. Suiting, the Boss signature, is revisited in a multitude of strong, modern silhouettes.

Adwoa Aboah

The menswear offering comprises lightweight outerwear in soft shades – including a timeless trench coat styled with smart shirts and suiting, oversized cream blazers and coordinating tailored pants, clean-cut beige waistcoats, light-camel-toned crew-neck sweaters, paired with sleek, leather sneakers and lace-ups.

Lee Minho

The womenswear assortment features airy, sheer layers contrasted with more structured, tailored pieces, as in a camel two-piece short suit combined with a longline shirt and airy beige V-neck knit. A neutral, oversized blazer with matching pants and an all-black look with a sleeveless blazer and fluid trousers stand out within the collection. Zenith Unveils Three New Designs At LVMH Watch Week In Miami

Zenith has unveiled some spectacular new timepieces in Miami at this year’s edition of LVMH Watch Week.

The new models include the much-anticipated iteration of the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar which was revealed alongside two new Chronomaster Sport designs.

The Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar

One could say that the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar has been 55 years in the making.

A little-known fact that attests to just how advanced ZENITH’s groundbreaking automatic high-frequency chronograph calibre was at the time of its launch in 1969, the El Primero was initially designed to accommodate the triple calendar and moon phase functions right from the very beginning.

A series of 25 prototypes was produced in 1970 as a proof of concept, using the same round case as the A386. But given the success of the core chronograph version, the house decided to wait a few years before releasing the first version of the El Primero triple calendar in a watch, which by the 1970s took on a much more space-age design.

With a host of functions, the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar is possibly the most versatile and functional line within the Chronomaster collection.

The latest model is available in two distinct dial versions: A sportier silvery-white “panda” opaline dial with black counters and 1/10th of a second scale, and an opulent opaline slate-grey dial with silvery-white counters and scale that is directly inspired by the small series of El Primero triple calendar prototypes from 1970.

Both versions are highlighted by rose gold-tone applied baton markers and hands, adding a warm contrast that brings out the polished rose gold moon set on a metallic blue sunray-patterned disk with five-pointed stars.

A third dial variant, exclusively for the Chronomaster Original Triple Calendar Boutique Edition available only at Zenith physical and online boutiques, is done in a sunburst olive-green tone with golden applied markers and hands. In each version, the calendar wheels match the dial colours.

The Chronomaster Sport

In the three years since its introduction, the Chronomaster Sport has made its mark and solidified its position as a leading contender among sporty chronographs.

Now, the award-winning Chronomaster Sport takes on a chromatic striking green ceramic bezel and dial, while debuting the line’s new integrated rubber strap.

The two new editions couldn’t be more striking. For the first time in the Chronomaster Sport core collection, the engraved 1/10th of a second bezel on top of the 41mm steel case with pump-style pushers is crafted in green ceramic. Fitted with a three-link steel bracelet with an adjustable clasp, the green aesthetic explores a different side of sportiness with vibrant chromatics.

For those seeking something more dazzling, ZENITH presents the fanciest iteration of the Chronomaster Sport yet. Eye-catching and inherently precious, the Chronomaster Sport is crafted in a radiant rose gold case and bracelet, with a dazzling bezel featuring expertly set baguette-cut white diamonds, black spinels and grey as well as blue sapphires on the bezel.

Saudi Arabia Launches New Campaign With Football Hero Lionel Messi

International football icon Lionel Messi is fronting a new campaign for Saudi Arabia.

Called “Go Beyond What You Think” the campaign aims to tackle common misconceptions about Saudi Arabia, and to foster broadening of perspectives as well as bridging cultures through tourism.

The team behind the campaign is called ‘Saudi Welcome To Arabia’ and it will launch across Europe, India and China.

Those who know Saudi are encouraged to share positive experiences and memories on TikTok and social channels using the bi-lingual hashtags #ShareYourSaudi.

The campaign brings to life the UN Tourism, ‘Tourism Opens Minds’ Initiative that launched on World Tourism Day in Riyadh in September 2023, which extends a compelling invitation for travellers to broaden their horizons and explore uncharted corners of the world. Governments and industry were presented with a special pledge, calling on them to promote new and under-appreciated destinations while consumers pledged to ‘be open-minded to new cultures and destinations, holding an open heart while travelling’.

Lionel Messi is one of many leading international figures who took that pledge. Messi has a fond connection with Saudi being a frequent visitor to the country, including most recently with his wife, Antonella and their two children last Spring. Both Messi and his family have expressed delight in their Saudi experiences and a desire to continue visiting the country.

The hero video for the campaign features Messi breaking down metaphorical ‘walls’ of various misconceptions about the country.

The video showcases Saudi’s diverse locations, weather and terrain – from the pristine waters of the Red Sea to the lush green mountains in Aseer, snow-covered Tabuk, the coastal city of Jeddah and Riyadh, the bustling capital. In celebration of Saudi’s activities and attractions, the Messi campaign highlights the Diriyah E-Prix, Riyadh Season’s theme park rides, AlUla’s hot air balloon flights and MDL Beast music events.

The campaign also places a spotlight on Saudi’s open and welcoming culture and the importance of inspiring young Saudi women to reach their full potential.

Messi celebrates the Saudi women who have been trailblazers in their fields and are currently leading Saudi’s cultural transformation. Recent events include Saudi Women’s National football team, motorsport athlete Dania Akeel, DJ Cosmicat, and Rayyanah Barnawi, the first Saudi woman in space.

Saudi especially comes alive during its sunny Winter Season – this year the country is hosting 17,000 events, making it ‘the world’s most happening winter’. Ongoing events include Riyadh Season, Jeddah Season and Diriyah Season, with notable events coming up including the Saudi Cup (February 23-24), Saudi Arabian Grand Prix (March 7-9), AlUla Arts Festival (Feb 9-March 2), AlUla skies festival (April 10-27) and much more.

Of note, the campaign is launching ahead of Messi’s imminent and much-anticipated Saudi return playing two matches with his current Club, Inter Miami, against Al Nassr on the 1st of February and against Al Hilal on the 29th of January.

“Sheher, Prakriti, Devi” comes from the Hindustani terms for ‘city’, ‘nature’ and ‘deity’. The exhibition germinates from Gill’s ongoing documentation of urban and semi-urban spaces in India since 2003 in a series titled ‘Rememory’ (after Toni Morrison).

Gill offers a unique lens to regard cities as spaces of habitation that are shaped by multiple life-worlds.

Together with various practitioners with whom she shares an affinity, the exhibition presents a world where built and natural structures are rendered porous by termites; gates open to unfinished roads; historical ruins become homes to migratory birds while pigeons become occupants of post-colonial houses; locusts bear witness to contemporary terrors and forests manifest as spirit sisters.

In this show, viewers are invited to regard ecology as an overlap of cultural, natural and spiritual domains.

The exhibition is on view until the 1st of June at the Ishara Art Foundation, Alserkal Avenue in Dubai, UAE.

Dior Is Inspired By Haute Couture For Its Latest “Dior Délicat” Jewellery Collection

Dior has applied the principles of haute couture to jewellery with its latest Dior Délicat by Victoire de Castellane collection.

The house describes the new collection as “a dreamlike odyssey in which the pieces emulate the delicacy of embroidery.”

Akin to the Petites Mains of the Ateliers crafting fabric, the Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie unites the motifs of the Galons Dior line with the elegance of Dearest Dior, embellishing each element differently to bring new, exceptional creations to life.“With the finesse and lightness of lace, the settings seem to fade into the background, allowing rubies, emeralds, blue sapphires, rubellites and tanzanites to reveal their bold hues in complex compositions that reflect the savoir-faire cherished by Dior,” the house continued in the notes which accompany the new collection.

The new pieces also contain a subtle subtle tribute to the house’s founder, Christian Earnst Dior. He had a passion for nature and botany and in a nod to his love of the outdoors a white gold set – featuring a necklace, a cuff bracelet, a double ring and a pair of earrings – is punctuated with pique diamonds evoking vegetal details in the collection.

There are seventy-nine models in the new collection, featuring gems in vibrant tones, inviting numerous associations, which according to the house represent the “many expressions of multi-faceted femininity, at once fragile and powerful, graceful and assertive.”

Julie de Libran Examines Domestic Clothes Through A Couture Lens For Spring 2024

The latest collection from France’s fashion darling, Julie de Libran, was all about reinventing clothing worn at home, through a kaleidoscope of couture techniques and materials.

Opening the show, guests were offered a cup of tea and biscuits, before models descended down a homely staircase into the theatre-at-large living room space.

Of course, as this was de Libran her home collection featured anything but leisurewear. This was not a collection which favoured comfort, but rather excess.

Key pieces included a long double-breasted jacket, a short-sleeved parka adorned with feathers and an exquisitely embroidered multicoloured dress.

Simone Rocha Takes To The The Helm Of Jean-Paul Gaultier For Couture 2024

Jean-Paul Gaultier invited Simone Rocha to make her haute couture debut for his eponymous fashion house in Paris this week.

Rocha is known for presenting a subversive, sometimes dark take on femininity and womanhood – and she did not disappoint with her collection for Gaultier, which also took into consideration the codes of the house which the founder first established with the opening of his house in 1982.

Each year a guest designer takes to the helm of Jean-Paul Gaultier, to reinterpret the founder’s spirit for a new season of haute couture.

For this season’s collection, Rocha brought Gaultier’s playful provocativeness to the collection, through her own lens of femininity, the duality of which were presented through the craftsmanship of haute couture.

Rocha is very much the golden child of the fashion industry, launching her eponymous fashion house when she graduated from Central Saint Martins 14 years ago.

There were nods to classic Gaultier pieces (think Breton stripes and sailor hats) mixed with influences from her own heritage (the Irish designer discovered that the founder had used traditional Irish crochet in his archive, which she brought back for her own collection with the house).

There were Surrealist touches to be found as well, – for example, earrings shaped like dangling garter belts and footwear with feathers and pearls.

Overall, it was a creative, playful collection, which won over the crowd as well as Gaultier himself.

Fendi Celebrates Duality And Futurism For Its Latest Couture Collection

The FROW included multi-award-winning actresses and Reese Witherspoon, along with Reese’s daughter, Ava Phillippe.

Discussing the house’s latest collection, Fendi’s artistic director of womenswear and couture, Kim Jones, said: “I was thinking about Karl Lagerfeld’s futurism with Fendi… In the collection, there is a humanism at the heart of this future; there’s the body, the silhouette within the silhouette, the person and the handwork of the couture. The collection is about structure and decoration, where the two become indivisible. I wanted an idea of precision and emotion at once.”

Throughout the collection, there is a dialogue between what the house describes as the dualism of “poetry and reality.”

“From simplicity in geometry to the primal pull of croco, a ‘human futurism’ travels through the collection, conflating constants of the past to make the present and the future. Here structure becomes decoration and decoration, structure,” the notes which accompanied the collection said.

The collection began with a new, ‘Scatola’ silhouette (meaning ‘box’) and ended on the same, precision geometric pattern cutting.

Meanwhile, rich materials were used throughout the collection, from the finest cashmere and vicuna yarns to elevated rib knit dresses elegantly swaddle with knotted ‘Shibari’ harnesses integral to the silhouette.

Giorgio Armani Privé Embraces Joy For Couture Spring/Summer 2024

Last night Giorgio Armani Privé revealed a collection entitled “Haute Couture en Jeu” (Haute Couture as play).

The show notes described the collection as “ Armani in its open embrace of different cultures and the joy with which it transcends boundaries to explore distant worlds.” It was undoubtedly a collection which revelled in delight.

Key details included froth of lace, delicate embroidery, finely crafted appliqués and the twirling of thin braids that adorn the hair and graze the shoulders.

It was a wholly imagined journey from West to East: kimono-like robe, full skirts, mermaid dresses, petite bodices, long jackets and trousers that narrow at the bottom and airy and voluminous dresses.

There was also a blend of exquisite aqueous tones – pale pinks, jade green, soft blues, gold flashes, midnight and royal blues – illuminated by the sparkle of embroidery, dematerialised by the weightlessness of lace and enhanced by the opulence of jacquard.

Indeed, as the house said, in the notes that accompanied the collection: “fashion is undoubtedly a serious matter for Giorgio Armani but can also represent play, evasion or a moment of suspension. Especially with haute couture, a space in which the designer can indulge in unexpected bursts of creativity.”

UNESCO and Prada Group Expand Their “Sea Beyond” Education Programme

UNESCO and Prada Group have announced the 3rd edition of their Sea Beyond educational programme, dedicated to the dissemination of ocean literacy and ocean preservation.

More than 34,000 students in 56 countries will benefit from this training this year.

It will offer ocean literacy training sessions for students and teachers and include live lessons with UNESCO ocean and climate experts.

The programme will run from January to June 2024 and end with an international contest, as per the previous editions.

This new chapter will also be marked by a new partnership with Bibliothèques Sans Frontières (Libraries without Borders).

UNESCO and Prada Group will launch a contest inviting schools to create an awareness campaign with text, graphics or interactive content, to explain to their peers how to adopt more conscious behaviours to preserve the ocean.

The jury evaluating the campaigns will be composed of new and pre-established Sea Beyond “friends”, the so-called Sea Beyonders, people who have placed a love for the ocean at the centre of their personal and professional lives.

Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO’s Director-General, commented on the new launch: “Humanity depends on the ocean, but the future of the ocean is in jeopardy due to human activity. If we want to succeed in saving it, we must support scientific research, and advance knowledge but also invest in education. This program supported by UNESCO and Prada Group, is a very positive example of how to raise awareness among younger generations and move towards virtuous practices”.

Chanel Dances Between The Past, Present And Future For Couture Spring 2024

For Chanel’s latest haute couture collection revealed in Paris today, the house’s creative director Virginie Viard was inspired by the world of dance, and in particular ballet.

The collection also marks 100 years since the house’s founder, Gabrielle Chanel, first designed pieces for the Ballets Russes of Léon Bakst and Sergei Diaghilev.

“I often think about dance, it’s an important theme at Chanel,” Viard said in the show notes which accompanied the collection.

“The House is close to its institutions, to its choreographers and dancers, and we create costumes for the ballet. I have tried to bring together the power and finesse of bodies and clothes in a very ethereal collection, composed of tulle, ruffles, pleats and lace,” she continued.

Viard also paid particular attention to the humble button in this collection. Discussing this focus in the show notes, the house said: “The button eases the opening and closing of a garment. Thanks to buttons, women could rid themselves of everything that had prevented them from moving freely. Gabrielle Chanel treated buttons with the utmost respect. Like a jewel, it adds a touch of daring and sparkle to the unique allure of which she was both theorist and artisan.”

“A symbol of emancipation, Viard takes this jewel-button into the world of ballet and dance. Here, fashion, music, theatre and painting come together as physical poetry and, touched by grace or wonderment, the performers briefly escape the laws of nature,” the notes continued.

Across the collection, there were down jackets in tulle and hoods, while there were also references to contemporary culture, for example through the style of heels presented in the show.

There were transparent short straight skirts, long dresses, jumpsuits and capes embellished with embroideries depicting draperies,  bows, illusion tulle pockets, lace belts, sequins, braids and flowers.

In another nod to the world of dance, the pieces in the show were also worn over white ballet leotards and tights.

“For me, dance evokes all these stories and emotions that are close to my heart, and that I take such pleasure in handing down and recounting,” said Viard. The result is a passionate, heartfelt examination of Chanel’s past while unbuttoning the house’s steps into the future.
