Schiaparelli’s first Ready-To-Wear Collection Is Now Available In Boutiques

This season marks the release of Schiaparelli’s first ready-to-wear collection.

Inspired by the house’s founder, Elsa, the FW23 pieces aim to provide a complete wardrobe for the Schiaparelli woman.

The collection features everything from crisp white poplin shirts to short velvet cocktail dresses and infuses these classics with Schiaparelli’s trademark wit, irreverence, and drama.

Discussing the new FW23 release, Daniel Roseberry said: Of all Elsa Schiaparelli’s legacies, her most enduring might have been her marriage of art and fashion. Elsa became famous for her couture, but her career debut was those then groundbreaking trompe l’oeil knits.”

“Pure sportswear, they were an aggressive rebuke of everything frilly and flouncy, knitwear that was easy to slip on – and off (you can think of them as the athleisure wear of their age). Those early sweaters were among the first of her many “viral” moments over the course of her brief but influential career,” he continued.

Everything We Know About Alexander McQueen’s New Creative Director Seán McGirr

Following the departure of Sarah Burton at Alexander McQueen, Seán McGirr was named as the new creative director of the house.

A relatively unknown name in the fashion industry McGirr will step into the spotlight – most likely with his debut collection at Fashion Week this coming February. Here is everything we know about him so far.

Seán McGirr and Lee McQueen had the same professor

McGirr is a 35-year-old Irish-born London-based designer. He graduated from Central Saint Martins’ MA Fashion course in 2014, which means both McGirr and the house’s founder Lee Alexander McQueen were taught by the same professor – the late esteemed Louise Wilson.

He’s previously worked with fashion titan Christophe Lemaire

He has a slew of behind-the-scenes experience at different outposts throughout the fashion industry. Most recently he worked at JW Anderson heading up the house’s ready-to-wear.  Before his stint at JW Anderson, he worked at Dries van Noten and Burberry. Perhaps most notably on his CV he also worked at Uniqlo under the leadership of Christophe Lemaire.

He used to be a magazine stylist

Unlike many big names in the industry, McGirr didn’t go straight into one of the big fashion houses, following his time at Central Saint Martins. Prior to designing, he worked in both Paris and Tokyo for Vogue Hommes as a stylist.

His announcement marks an all-male lineup at Kering

Following his appointment, some voiced on social media that the announcement meant that all of Kering’s fashion houses were now led by white men. In comparison, at LVMH there are four women who hold top creative positions including Maria Grazia Chiuri at Dior and Camille Miceli at Pucci, along with Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo who lead their namesake brands.

Ten Essential Skincare Tips To Look Your Best This Fall

Finally, the soupy hot UAE summer weather is starting to change into (far more pleasant) autumnal temperatures. However – as the seasons change, so do the needs of your skin.

In the autumn, cooler temperatures and lower humidity levels can lead to dry and dull skin. Here are some fall skincare tips to help you maintain a healthy and radiant complexion:

Hydration is Key

As the weather gets cooler, it’s common for your skin to become drier. Make sure to use a good moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated. Consider using a slightly heavier moisturiser than you used in the summer.

Exfoliate Regularly

Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells, allowing your skin to absorb moisturisers more effectively. Use a gentle exfoliator 1-2 times a week to keep your skin smooth.

Sunscreen is Still Important

Even though the temperatures are dropping, it’s crucial to continue using sunscreen. UV rays can still damage your skin – especially in the Middle East. Be sure to apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30, especially if you spend time outdoors.

Adjust Your Cleansing Routine

Consider using a hydrating or creamy cleanser as opposed to a gel-based one. This can help prevent your skin from drying out too much, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Protect Your Lips

Chapped lips are common as the humidity drops. Use a nourishing lip balm to keep your lips moisturised and protected from the elements.

Stay Hydrated

Drinking enough water is essential for maintaining healthy skin. Hydrate from the inside out to combat dryness.

Add Antioxidants To Your Routine

Look for skincare products that contain antioxidants like vitamins C and E. These can help protect your skin from environmental damage.

Warm Showers, Not Hot

Hot showers can strip your skin of natural oils, leading to dryness. Opt for warm showers instead and moisturise immediately after bathing.

Consider Overnight Treatments

Apply a hydrating mask or a thicker night cream before bedtime. This allows your skin to absorb the product while you sleep, providing extra moisture and nourishment.

Focus On Nutrition

Eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants can contribute to the health of your skin. Include foods that are high in omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A, C, and E.

Louis Vuitton Reveals First Artisan Timepiece Collaboration With Atelier Akrivia

Following the Louis Vuitton Watch Prize for Independent Creatives announced earlier this year, Louis Vuitton is embarking on a series of collaborative timepieces with renowned independent watchmakers.

The inaugural project has resulted in the LVRR-01 Chronographe à Sonnerie, born from the collaboration between Atelier Akrivia and Louis Vuitton.

Discussing the new collaboration, a spokesperson for Louis Vuitton said: “Embodying the essence of both maisons, the LVRR-01 is a double-faced chronograph with a chiming complication – a true statement in the watch industry – powered by a completely new tourbillon movement developed from the ground up by Atelier Akrivia and its founder Rexhep Rexhepi in a redesigned Louis Vuitton Tambour case.”

“The fundamental concept of the LVRR-01 is encapsulated in the emblem on the sapphire dial. At a distance, it appears to be the conventional logo, but up close the emblem reveals itself to be a union of the two brand names, with “LV” subtly incorporated into “AKRIVIA”. This represents the first time in history that Louis Vuitton has combined its logo with that of another brand. The LVRR-01 seamlessly unites two houses, Louis Vuitton and Atelier Akrivia, that are separated by time but like-minded in passion”, they continued.

HH Sheikha Jawaher Bint Abdulla Al Qassimi Discusses The UAE’s Blossoming Creative Arts Scene

HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Abdulla Al Qassimi is inspiring a new generation of creatives throughout the United Arab Emirates and beyond through her incredible work in the arts sector.

As Director of SIFF (Sharjah International Film Festival) & FANN (Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children), she has worked tirelessly over the past two decades to promote educational literature, theatre and film to the youngest members of society. Her Highness recently sat down with A&E magazine to discuss the inspiration behind her work and her plans for the future, including the 10th edition of SIFF, which will take place later this month.

What inspired you to get into the youth creative arts field?

I was initially selected for the field because of my experience working with children as a teacher. I found a lot of joy and fulfilment in helping young minds explore their creativity. When the opportunity to work in this field presented itself, I immediately accepted it. While I had other career options, this role resonated with me due to my deep connection with children and my passion for nurturing their artistic talents.

What have been your career highlights so far with the Sharjah International Film Festival (SIFF)?

One of my career highlights at SIFF has been witnessing its remarkable growth. Over the years, we’ve received positive feedback from those who have been with us from the beginning, acknowledging the festival’s increasing recognition on both the national and international. SIFF has also received numerous valuable partnerships, both locally and internationally, with organizations that believe in our mission. Another gratifying aspect has been the involvement of youth in the festival, as they participate

Alongside your role at the SIFF, you are also the Director of FANN. Please could you tell us a bit about the projects you have worked on through your organisation and what it has achieved?

FANN serves as the umbrella organization for SIFF and focuses on all aspects of media art, inspiring and nurturing the creative talents of children and youth in this field. We’ve organized a diverse range of events related to media arts, emphasizing various aspects of media separately to give each its due focus. Through our efforts, we aim to highlight the skills of young talents and provide them with opportunities to showcase their abilities.

Through your work, are there any young creative talents that you are particularly excited about?

Every year, I am excited by the young creators I encounter. We consistently discover outstanding talent among our junior jurors and in the films submitted by youth, both locally and internationally. Witnessing their creativity and innovation is incredibly inspiring, and it reaffirms the importance of our work in nurturing the next generation of media artists.

SIFF 2023 is taking place later this month. What can fans expect from the upcoming festival?

SIFF 2023 marks our 10th anniversary, and we’re celebrating this milestone by rebranding the logo. Audiences can look forward to an exciting lineup of new films, celebrity appearances, and industry experts sharing their insights. Every year brings fresh talent and new opportunities for inspiration, making each festival edition a unique and enriching experience.

Which projects within SIFF have resonated best with young people, in terms of inspiring creativity and engaging them?

The Junior Jurors project has been particularly impactful in inspiring creativity and personal growth among young participants. We receive submissions from diverse nationalities, and this project not only enhances their media literacy but also fosters increased confidence, better life skills, and a positive change in their personalities. It has proven to be a highly successful initiative.

From your experience with FANN and SIFF, how has it impacted your own choices about the media your children consume?

Working with FANN and SIFF has underscored the critical role media plays in our children’s lives. Media is ubiquitous, from movies to educational materials, and it profoundly influences our kids. This realization has made me more discerning about the content my children are exposed to. I understand the importance of ensuring that the media they consume carries the right messages. It’s vital for organizations like ours to prioritise content that aligns with positive values and provides meaningful messages.

What is the selection process for what you include in the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth?

We announce a global call for submissions, and upon receiving entries, we subject them to rigorous evaluation by our selection committee. While we encounter numerous exceptional films, we must adhere to specific rules and regulations and maintain a defined number of film selections. After the selection phase, we categorize the chosen films into their respective competition categories, ensuring a diverse and engaging program for our audience.

From the perspective of the experiences, you have had throughout your career, why do you think early education in media literacy is so important?

Media literacy education, in my view, is vital due to the ubiquity of media in our lives, which I’ve seen throughout my career. It equips children with critical skills to discern reliable information from misinformation, fostering informed decision-making. Additionally, it empowers them to understand and resist the persuasive tactics used in media, including advertising.

Media literacy also nurtures creativity by encouraging active participation in media creation and improving communication skills. Moreover, it instils principles of responsible digital citizenship, emphasizing ethical online conduct and the ability to navigate the online world responsibly.

Do you think there is still a place for traditional film media alongside digital platforms such as YouTube and Netflix? How do they differ in the roles they play in the youth market from your perspective?

Yes, traditional film media and digital platforms like YouTube and Netflix coexist effectively in the youth market. Traditional media offers a unique cinematic experience and curated content, suitable for families. In contrast, digital platforms provide convenience, and diverse content, and empower young creators to produce their own material. Traditional media focuses on communal experiences and high production values, while digital platforms offer accessibility and interactivity. Both play important roles in enriching the media landscape, catering to the diverse preferences of today’s youth.

Five Of Our Favourite Shorthaul Autumn Escapes

As an increasing number of flight routes across the Middle East have been opening up, plenty of unique cities and off-the-beaten-track locales have been available to visit. It’s never been easier to take a break and explore new cultures. Here are some of our favourite places that only take a short time to travel to from the Arab World.

Yerevan, Armenia

Yerevan, the capital of Armenia is a vibrant, historic city, situated in the southwest of the country. It’s a favourite destination of the Kardashians too, who are part Armenian and stay at the fabulous Hotel Alexander while in town. We recommend booking this spot – it’s by far the best hotel in the capital – with a five-star spa (Alexander Spa by Anne Semonin), and a rooftop dining eatery called Italiano Ristorante which offers a delectable menu and panoramic views of the city. It’s a great place to spend a long weekend at just 3 hours and 10 minutes from Dubai International Airport, with fresh mild temperatures during the autumn months. Start your trip by exploring Republic Square, the heart of Yerevan, surrounded by beautiful government buildings and a large musical fountain. It’s a great place to take in the city’s architecture and atmosphere. Also, be sure to take in the Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts (commonly known as the Matenadaran). This museum houses a vast collection of ancient Armenian manuscripts and is a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Pay your respects at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial, and take in some of the city’s culture at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts and History Museum of Armenia.

Bodrum, Turkey

Bodrum is known as Turkey’s answer to the rivieras of Europe. The country’s rich, famous and beautiful flock here during the summer months. However, one of the region’s best-kept secrets is that Autumn is when the coast really sings. During the post-summer months, there are fewer tourists, there’s also better access to facilities and the temperatures drop to palatable 28C degree highs in October. For enjoying the sun and the sea, popular places include Bodrum Beach, Gumbet Beach, and Bitez Beach. In the evening take a stroll around Bodrum Marina, where you can enjoy people-watching, sumptuous luxurious yachts and a bite to eat at one of the port-side restaurants. The coastline is spoilt for choice when it comes to luxury hotels. Considered one of the best in the region is the Amanruya, a property by Aman. Nestled in the hills which are covered in olive groves and cypress trees, the hotel has panoramic views of the nearby seascape and surrounding greenery. Highlights include the property’s tranquil pools and private pebble beach. Don’t leave Bodrum without indulging in local Turkish cuisine. Recommended dishes include traditional dishes such as kebabs, mezes (appetizers), and baklava, and don’t forget to taste Turkish tea or coffee. Another must-try is a relaxing traditional Turkish Hammam spa experience, which are available across most leading hotels in the area.

Latchi, Cyprus

There are plenty of places across both the Turkish and Greek areas of Cyprus that are popular with tourists, however, the island also has many lesser-known hidden away delights for the discerning luxury traveller. Top of our list is the picturesque village of Latchi, known for its natural beauty and relaxed atmosphere. The village is surrounded by the Akamas Peninsula, which is a protected nature reserve known for its rugged hills, lush forests, and beautiful coastline. Meanwhile, crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea lap its shores, making it a popular spot for swimming and water activities. It is also home to a charming fishing harbour and a modern marina, where you can take leisurely strolls along the waterfront or rent a private yacht to explore the coastline. The five-star Anassa property situated close to the village is a hideaway paradise and the perfect place to stay when visiting the coastline. While staying at the property be sure to visit the award-winning Thalassa Spa, which offers up a sumptuous mix of skin treatments, relaxing massages and five-star facilities. All restaurants at the hotel use locally sourced ingredients (including the island’s famed honey). Enjoy a candlelit dinner on the sunken open-air terrace at Basiliko or head to Helios for fine dining, live classical music and incredible sea views.

Greek Islands

Island hopping in the Greek Isles is at the top of many travellers’ wishlist, and it’s easier than you may think to plan a trip from the Middle East. Athens is just over four hours from Dubai with direct routes to many of the country’s island hubs from the Greek capital. The country has over 6,000 islands, but some deserve your attention more than others. Santorini is often a popular pick with travellers. The island is famous for its stunning sunsets, white-washed buildings, crystal-clear waters, and a top pick for honeymooners and romantic getaways. If you choose to visit, don’t miss the towns of Fira and Oia. One of the most Instagrammed destinations of the summer – Mykonos – is also much-loved by the jetset crowd. The Greek island is best known for its vibrant nightlife, beautiful beaches, and charming old town. Meanwhile, the island of Rhodes is a great option for history lovers, it’s home to well-preserved medieval towns and ancient ruins. Be sure to take in the Acropolis of Lindos while visiting the island. Bal d’Afrique Hand Cream by Byredo

This exquisite hand cream is inspired by the house’s founder, Ben Gorham’s childhood memories of Africa. “ My father lived and travelled in Africa for about 10-15 years. I would read his diaries; the way he travelled on freight ships, met all kinds of different people… For me, this was the fantasy of arriving in Africa through somebody else’s words. Bal d’Afrique reflects that; it’s an imaginary journey as well as a complete celebration of how I see African culture and its influence,” he explains. The end result is a delicious product with top notes of African marigold, bergamot, and buchu and with base notes of Moroccan cedarwood and vetiver as well as cyclamen and violet at its core. This cream is perfect for throwing in your bag, to have it – literally and figuratively – on hand from the office to the evening.

Sustainability Queen Stella McCartney Champions 70s Style For SS24

This week’s Stella McCartney’s SS24 show at Paris Fashion Week was a whirlwind of ’70s-inspired sustainable fashion.

The influence of the designer’s famous parents on her early creativity was palpable – with a merch store set up outside, dedicated to Paul and Linda McCartney’s post-Beatles bands called “Wings.”

While through the look of the pieces, the designer took vintage inspiration, as always McCartney also had her finger on the pulse of the latest technologies in sustainable fashion.

The show notes reminded the audience that 95% of the collection was sustainable and representatives from companies which focus on planet-friendly fabric technologies such as NFW Mirum, which makes plant-based leather, and Keel Labs (a company which makes seaweed-based fibres) and NFW Mirum (creators of plant-based leather) were also at the show.

Nicolas Ghesquière Brings Louis Vuitton With SS24 Champs-Élysées Collection

Louis Vuitton brought an explosion of colours, patterns and theatrics to Paris Fashion Week for the house’s SS24 show.

The new collection was a homecoming of sorts, for Nicolas Ghesquière. This year, the designer is celebrating ten years as Creative Director of the French house.

Instead of showcasing the new collection at one of Paris’ well-known landmarks, he revealed his SS24 show at the Louis Vuitton space on the Champs-Élysées which is currently under construction.

The building itself was originally built to hold guests at the 1900 Expo – when Paris would unveil to the world many wonders, including the Eiffel Tower.

According to the designer, this choice of the spot had to do with his musings on the idea of “temporality”, but certainly the romance of the 1900 era in Paris also comes through in the collection.

Virginie Viard Channels The Charm Of The Cote D’Azur For Chanel’s SS24 Collection

CTo know the South of France is to know the country’s quintessential summertime culture. Something which Virginie Viard was inspired by for her SS24 collection for Chanel.

The creative director looked to the landscape in the hills of Hyères and in particular a villa owned by Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, which Viard describes as offering “idyllic freedom” as inspiration for the new collection.

In the show notes the designer explains: “This Spring-Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection is an ode to liberty and to movement, and tells a story that has its origins in the gardens of the Villa Noailles.”

The choice has roots in Chanel’s foundations too. Marie-Laure de Noailles was a close friend of the house’s founder, Gabrielle Chanel, with avant-garde elements of both women’s styles influencing the collection.

As the show notes conclude, “Buoyed by an ambience of joy, sport and celebration, the elegantly carefree Spring Summer 2024 Ready-to-Wear collection is an invitation to enjoy life in the fresh air.”

Tashkeel is hosting a brand new exhibition at FN Designs in Alserkal Avenue. The team are hosting a solo show of documentary photography by UAE national artist Khalid Alastad, called “Little Neighbours”, which is open now to the public.

Recognised in region’s photography circles for his passion, patience, and dedication to the documentation of the UAE’s desert ecosystem, Alastad is showcasing a remarkable curation of more than 100 documentary photographs that seamlessly marries the precision of scientific documentation with the artistry of a seasoned photographer.

Photographer Khalid Alastad

“For Khalid Alastad, photography is not a vocation; it’s a profound passion and a familial tradition. Hailing from a lineage of creatives, with his father, Mohammed Alastad, celebrated as a pioneer artist known for his remarkable paintings and installations in the UAE, Khalid carries the torch forward through his lens. His work is a testament to his love and respect for the UAE, to be able to have the patience and hone his skill in documentary photography that sets him apart and highlights him in the scene of regional nature representation,” said Lisa Ball-Lechgar, the deputy director of Tashkeel.

Little Neighbours includes a detailed range of Alastad’s UAE-based wildlife photography, with a particular focus on insects, birds, reptiles, and arachnids inhabiting the country’s delicate desert ecosystem. Beyond the detailed visuals, Alastad’s work serves as invaluable documentation that can be used as a resource to be studied further, offering an unprecedented insight into the lives and behaviours of these often-overlooked creatures.

“What differentiates Khalid as an artist is his unwavering commitment to conservation, respect for nature, and the patience he brings to his craft. He understands the importance of leaving no trace behind, ensuring that his presence does not disturb the very subjects he seeks to document. It’s not just a duty to his country; it’s a labour of love,” Ball-Lechgar continued.

To unveil his Spring-Summer 2024 collection, Christian Louboutin presented a live contemporary performance at the Grand Amphitheatre of La Sorbonne in Paris.

The show explored the fusion between humans and technology, transposing the iconic red from one-of-a-kind designs to state-of-the-art technology screens.

This season, Christian Louboutin invited Belgian–Moroccan artist Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui for the choreography of his show. Known for his collaborations with some of the best theatres in the world, including the Paris Opera Ballet, and internationally known performers including Lady Gaga and Beyoncé, the show paid tribute to Christian Louboutin and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s shared passion for bringing together multifaceted artistic elements to create magical experiences. To make the show even more immersive, Christian Louboutin also invited German-Persian artist Tobias Gremmler to create the show’s visual concept.

A pioneer in digital art and design, he reimagined the brand’s iconic Red Sole, Mr. Gremmler into virtual bodies emerging from moving robotic screens.

Commenting on the show,  Christian Louboutin said “Dance is universal, in any culture, dance has its own special resonance. Sidi Larbi did this amazing mix of styles and culture, that is something I also cherish in my work. Elie Saab Is Inspired By Moonlight For SS24 Womenswear Collection

Taking place at the iconic Palais de Tokyo in Paris, the leading force in Lebanese fashion, Elie Saab put on a show like no other for the new season.

Key pieces in the new collection – called “Moonlight Shadow” –  included exquisite shades of turquoise and looks inspired by the feminine form.

Discussing the new season in the show notes, Saab said: “The iridescent moon takes its place in the twilight sky to mark the start of opulent revelries… Mediterranean vibes in pursuit of lavish parties that flourish in her nocturnal glow. She effortlessly moves through the tinkering glasses and lounging crowds, across dancefloors to blueish-sparkling poolsides reflecting Elie Saab RTW SS24.”

Elsewhere in the collection, breezy textures in vivacious colour and polka-dot interpretations accentuated the energetic lines and casual contours of simple silhouettes. Strong monochromatic mixes of pink brought a burst of flavour to cotton denim safari ensembles and wide-legged pantsuits. Coral Spritz embroidered tulle mingles with delicate lace, in conversations about sheer youthful bralettes, camisoles and long bodycon skirts with intricate trims of subtle fizz.

Talking about the new collection, the house continued: “The incandescent  Elie Saab woman is always ready for moonlight gatherings in the radiant day looks that bring blissful glimmers to the evening. Flowing open-back summer dresses with scalloped hemlines are garden-fresh in oversized white English lace. Kronthaler Creates An Ode To His Late Wife For Vivienne Westwood SS24

Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood presented one of the most personal collections at this year’s Paris Fashion Week on Saturday.

The Creative Director – who was the husband of the late designer – presented an ode to his wife’s wardrobe for his second show for the house.

He initially included 34 looks in the SS24 collection, as that was the number of years he knew Westwood, before expanding to 40 separate looks.

He took inspiration from earlier this year, when he unpacked his late wife’s wardrobe, which included around 250 looks.

A key piece in the collection was inspired by a key brown corduroy suit from Westwood’s wardrobe for the past twenty years. Kronthaler took the piece and created something new – in a paler palette.

The collection was filled with life, passion and punk, and felt like the perfect tribute to the late designer.

Feminity And Sensuality Form The Core Of The Valentino L’Ecole SS24 collection

Pierpaolo Piccioli revealed his latest collection for Valentino at Paris Fashion Week on Sunday. The Valentino L’Ecole collection for SS24 was a celebration of femininity, humanity and sensuality.

As the show notes which accompanied the new release explained “The skin itself becomes a fabric – skirts are abbreviated, both revelatory and permitting dynamic movement, while bold cuts open windows onto the body, allowing form to be reconsidered.”

Accessories were also key to this collection. “Accessories underscore the relationship between fashion and a woman, and her freedom,” the house declared.

In the collection, shoes were low, grounded, engaged with the body, and facilitated movement.

Meanwhile, the Valentino Garavani VLogo Moon bag was supple and malleable and moulded itself to the form of the body, the elliptical ‘V’ chain wrapping the wrist, fusing woman and garment.

Adding a further audio and visual dimension to the collection, multidisciplinary British artist FKA Twigs performed alongside the show. Explaining the choice of the artist and the performance style chosen, the house said “Her performances are always corporeal articulations of her work, fusing her music with dance and movement to place her own physicality at the center of her creative expression.”

Hermes Showcases Collection Amongst A Spring Garden In Paris For SS24

Nadege Vanhee-Cybulski, Hermes’ artistic director revealed the latest collection amongst flora inspired by a French spring garden.

Power dressing came in the form of colour for this collection, while sensuality also was key for this new collection.

Meanwhile, the flora setting made its way into pieces in the show, with the Birkin, the Arçon, the Panier d’été, the Pochette d’été stuffed with bundles of grass.

The show by the well-known leather house, however, did not happen without some controversy. Animal rights protesters have been a consistent fix of Fashion Month this year, and Hermes also found themselves as a target.

A protestor took to the runway with a sign calling on the French house to stop using exotic animals – including ostrich and crocodile skins – in their products. Bryan “Bryanboy” Yambao, a fashion social media influencer then grabbed the sign from the protestor as they were escorted off the catwalk.

Following the show, Yambao told Reuters that he took the sign because “It’s rude to disrupt a show that people have been working on for months.”

Alexander McQueen Reveals An SS24 Collection Inspired by Female Icons

Renowned Polish artist Magdalena Abakanowicz and the late British Queen Elizabeth I were two key inspirations for the latest Alexander McQueen collection.

Discussing why she chose Abakanowicz, Sarah Burton, the house’s Creative Director explained that it was due to her role as “ a transgressive and powerfully creative artist who refused ever to compromise her vision.”

Meanwhile, the female anatomy also played an integral role in Burton’s inspiration for the show.

The collection marks the last by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, which she dedicated to her great friend and founder of the house. “The show is dedicated to the memory of Lee Alexander McQueen, whose wish was always to empower women, and to the passion, talent and loyalty of my team,” she said.

Other British icons who played a role in her final collection for the house include Naomi Campbell – who closed the show in a silver beaded dress and David Bowie – whose song “Heroes” played out during the event.

For her final show, Burton also embraced the current fashion week trend of using women beyond size zero models to walk the runway.

Plus-sized models made an appearance, alongside midsized women and even a pregnant woman walked the show. The message seemed to be that this was a collection for many, not just the few.

Dancer chic played big at the Victoria Beckham show this weekend.

It was held at an 18th-century French townhouse as part of Paris Fashion Week, which was a former residence of Karl Lagerfeld.

Similar to Kylie Jenner’s arrival earlier in the week, crowds were kept waiting by a late appearance by Kim Kardashian, and her entourage – mother Kris Jenner – by 47 minutes.

They weren’t the only ones from the Kardashian clan – model Kendall Jenner also walked the show in a black trouser suit.

But, aside from celebrity attendance – back to the show. As mentioned, dance fashion played an integral role in the inspiration behind the show. Including everything from leg warmers and body suits to hair nets and oversized knits.

Famous French ballet artist, Edgar Degar, also played a role in the colour scheme of the collection, which saw plenty of pastel shades.

Jonathan Anderson Reimagined The Female Silhouette For Loewe SS24

Jonathan Anderson challenged the traditional feminine silhouette with his latest collection for the house.

His answer? Incredibly high-waisted, structured trousers, paired with classic crisp shirt combinations.

As the house explained in the show notes which accompanied the collection “A wardrobe in perspective: tall and vertical, for a stringent proposal of daywear. A pragmatic one. Blazers, coats, blouses, v-neck jumpers, cardigans, jeans, trousers. Long legs, waists moving high, a compact bust. Pockets and slits allow the body to assume certain postures, and the items to be defined by gestures.”

“A reflection on being uptight, and the sensuality that breaks it all down. Textural knits: short chunky jumpers; long capes that encase the body; dilated pullovers that flow around it. Leather as tailored outer skin: sleek coats that can be flipped under the arm on one side, like a bag; T-shirts and shorts with chewed hems”, the house continued.
