3 Summer Trends For Women To Try Now

Prepare your shopper bags and get ready for some retail therapy, here are this season’s hottest summer trends. From powerful colour blocks and shiny metallics to the ultimate power suit, this is the trio of must-have looks for your wardrobe.

1. White Power Suit

When we look back at Gigi Hadid’s tailored suit from 2018, we realise that the white suit is THE power suit to rule all, and we are so glad it’s back this season. White is an essential colour for a summer wardrobe, it’s fresh, bright and reflects the sun perfectly. White can be worn for many different occasions and on many different skin tones making it a versatile colour indeed. It’s sweet and angelic but wearing a tailored suit in this colour makes a bold statement and presents a sense of absolute power. Who can forget Meghan Markle’s 2022 Invictus Games ensemble? The subtle flare of the Valentino trousers paired perfectly over her white shoes, screamed divine style, confidence and elegance. We have seen many designers incorporating tailoring into this season’s collections, including Fendi who featured multiple white tailored designs in its Spring 22 ready-to-wear collection. We think it’s a strong look when paired as a two-piece, but if you find it a challenge keeping the colour at its cleanest, a simple white blazer with denim is a great place to start.

2. Colour Block

As spring sets in and flowers come into full bloom, it’s the perfect opportunity to add a splash of colour to your wardrobe. We are totally crushing on Blake Lively’s orange ensemble and love how she has paired a bright yellow Louis Vuitton bag and striking blue earrings with it. As we see from the style icon, this colour block craze is all about choosing the most daring shades on the colour wheel and pairing them together with confidence. Jacquemus is renowned for bringing colour to its collections, and we were not disappointed with this year’s Spring ready-to-wear collection. The green and blue combination gives us the feeling of being laid out on freshly cut grass with the summer sky above us. For another burst of inspiration, check out the Versace Spring/Summer 22, with not a boring colour in sight, it’s a sign that more of this vibrant trend is on the way. If the thought of a head-to-toe clash of colours has you reaching for your little black dress though, then not to worry, even choosing some vibrant accessories can add a fresh new twist to a darker outfit.

3. Liquid Metallics

This year’s red carpets have seen many celebrities have taking to the red carpet in shimmering dresses and metallic ensembles, a favourite of ours was Eva Longoria’s metallic mirrored gown at Cannes Film Festival. We have been inspired to add some glitz and glamour to this trend roundup and a touch of sparkle can never go a miss in a summer wardrobe. We normally think of disco ball outfits during December’s festive season, covering ourselves in sequins for the celebration, but this year why not try adding some metallics into your summer wardrobe too.  We can see from the Fendi Spring/Summer 22 runway that this brand has incorporated metallics in a new way, opting for a more foiled metallic material that is lighter in weight and much more subtle in comparison to sequins. We predominantly think of metallics as being gold or silver and worn in the evening, but try adding some colourful silk blouses like the Tom Ford Spring/Summer 22 collection to your daywear for a hint of shimmer and sparkle.

Fashion brands are integrated throughout the event, showcasing their own take on homeware and the theme of the year. This year the event focuses on creativity and innovation.

Dior

At this year’s fair, Dior has invited Philippe Starck to reinvent an iconic emblem; the Medallion Chair. This timeless and elegant piece has been elevated and is ready to be presented at the Palazzo Citterio during Milan Design Week. With a backdrop of monochrome decor in a deep, matte black, the polished chrome homeware pieces will be brought to life in a dramatic reveal. Unveiled one by one in a choreographed musical composition, the eyes are immediately drawn to each of the Miss Dior chair pieces underneath the overhead spotlights.

Versace

Versace is presenting an all-new outdoor summer living line at this year’s design fair, alongside its vibrant homeware collection. Donatella Versace has worked with designers Roberto Palomba and Ludovica Serafini to create this immersive installation space in true opulent Versace style. In a dreamlike space, graphics and lights present an artistic flow between the walls and the furniture pieces for an immersive guest experience.

Buccellati

Buccellati is making its debut at the fair this year with “Galateo. A Journey into Conviviality”, a project dedicated to rediscovering the centrality of the table. The historic Italian Maison views the table as a place of excellence where relationships can be built and values it as a place of empathy, kindness and grace. Buccellati reimagines the table, combining it with the brand’s iconic silver collections in a collaboration with many leading figures from the international furniture design scene.

Ralph Lauren

Located in the heart of Milan, Palazzo Ralph Lauren opens its doors and transforms into a unique destination that celebrates the American lifestyle and timeless design, with an exclusive preview of the Fall 2022 home collection. Guests will be invited to take part in engaging design conversations during the Milan Design Week and indulge in a celebratory cocktail party, hosted by David Lauren and industry experts.

“I have always been inspired by the way people live out their dreams all over the world and the city of Milan especially has touched me with its refinement, beauty, and history. I am excited to share my personal vision of living in the beautiful palazzo that is my home in the heart of Milan.” Ralph Lauren

Loewe

For the past five years, the Milan Design Week has been an important moment for fashion brand Loewe as it has allowed them to be inventive and find unexpected directions of creativity. For its sixth year, the brand presents ‘Weave, Restore, Renew’, a transparent name that describes the materials and values of the presentation. The project revolves around the idea of giving new life to things that might have been forgotten or discarded and turning them into new, unique pieces by repairing and reviving them through craft interventions. Loewe looked at the traditional crafts of leather, straw and paper, to create baskets that are a sustainable and natural material for the home.

Dolce&Gabbana

The unmistakable prints of the Dolce&Gabbana homeware collection will be making an appearance as part of the design week. Two homeware boutiques opened earlier this year and this marks a further opportunity for the brand to present its Casa collections and designs. The Blu Mediterraneo, Carretto Siciliano, Leopard and Zebra themes dominate the scene with their iconic patterns and references to Dolce&Gabbana’s most authentic DNA. The stores are located on Corso Venezia 7 and Via Durini 23 inviting guests to immerse themselves in a unique experience of site-specific multimedia content.

Fendi

Across three locations, this luxury brand will be presenting visitors with a Fendi Casa experience during the Milan Design Week. The first is a large boutique that was opened last April at Piazza della Scala, which presents the Fendi furniture in a modern light-filled space across two levels. The second location is an exclusive appointment-only experience at the Fendi Cases Apartment, a flat on the main floor of a historic stately home. The casa is fully furnished with Fendi pieces and showcases the Maison’s expressive codes and savoir-faire, interacting with the Milanese architecture. The final installation will consist of a temporary bar at the apparel boutique in Via Montenapoleone 3, it will reinterpret the iconic FENDI Caffè in the courtyard of the boutique and is open to the public throughout the week.

Louis Vuitton

At this year’s design week, Louis Vuitton is celebrating ten years of its Objets Nomades collection of furniture and objects. The exhibition has been specifically designed to host the collection in the iconic Garage Traversi in Milan. A large presentation of the latest furniture pieces from the Objets Nomades offering is illuminated in large colourful spaces, plus a wide selection of other pieces from over the past decade. Each of the homeware pieces presented is an expression of the unique combination of its designer’s creativity and Louis Vuitton’s unparalleled savoir-faire.

Piaget Reveals its Latest Rose Collection of Colourful Novelties

In celebration of the Piaget Rose collection’s 40th anniversary, the brand reveals three new jewellery sets and a timekeeper.

Yves Piaget’s love of flowers, in particular the rose, began many years ago, and since then, he has been able to combine his passion for nature and team of craftmanship excellence to create collections focused on this elegant flower. In celebration of the Piaget Rose collection’s 40th anniversary, the brand has created a selection of colourful new novelties as a symbol of taste and joy.

This delicate collection blends Piaget’s gold craftsmanship with coloured gemstones handpicked by the brand’s finest designers and gemmologists. The first introduction of this celebratory collection features a Rose gold set which is composed of an original ear cuff porté, a ring and a unique necklace. This vivid stone collection set was inspired by the delicate changing colours of Yves Piaget’s garden and is the burst of colour we all need in our summer jewellery box.

Piaget’s designs don’t just stop at jewellery though, the second part of the reveal features an exciting white gold timepiece as part of the Altiplano collection. The floral engravings symbolise the rose’s beauty and an additional rose surprise is hidden within the bracelet. Taking more than two years to develop, the bracelet is created with one of the most delicate materials in the world: real flower petals. It is the ultimate expression of Piaget’s passion.

Chanel Launches the 2021/22 Métiers d’art Collection in Boutiques

Chanel is launching the 2021/22 Métiers d’art collection in boutiques this month and the brand hosted a runway show featuring the collection in Florence as part of the celebration.

On June 7th, 2022, Chanel presented its 2021/22 Métiers d’art collection in Florence to remind us of the exquisite handwork that goes into these creations. The brand held a previous show of the collection earlier in December 2021 when it was first revealed in Paris, and this recent presentation marks the launch of the collection in boutiques around the world.

This second show was set against a backdrop created especially for the occasion at the Stazione Leopolda, a former train station from the first half of the 19th century. Brand ambassadors Penélope Cruz, Caroline de Maigret and Angèle attended the show alongside director and friend of the House Sofia Coppola, Italian actresses Coco Rebecca Edogamhe, and many more.

Guests enjoyed a journey through the collection as they arrived, first landing in a room where three animated films were projected, they were then led into the main area of the event, a white room with walls swathed in pleated curtains and camellias. Symbols of the brand were visible throughout, from the long black ribbon that led the guests through each room acting as a guide, to the emblematic Chanel flower, traditionally made by the House of Lemarié, which was featured as an oversized version, in reference to the dreamlike world of the animated films.

The Chanel 2021/22 Métiers d’art collection is available here in the UAE in Chanel boutiques from June 9th.

Gisou Reveals its Latest Must-Have Hair Product

Gisou the haircare brand founded by Negin Mirsalehi has revealed a new honey-infused scalp treatment for beautiful hair, with all ingredients sustainably sourced from her family’s very own bee garden.

After a six-generation beekeeping heritage, haircare brand Gisou is sharing its knowledge on how to gain healthy, shiny and voluminous hair with its latest product. This honey-infused scalp saviour is the product we’ve been looking for to give our hair a boost of nature straight at the root.

Think of it like their Mirsalehi Bee Garden. To care for the bees, healthy meadows of flowers are needed for pollination. For those flowers to flourish, they need a healthy bed of soil to nurture their growth and Gisou believe that the same goes for your hair.

Gisou fully understands the science behind maintaining a healthy scalp and focuses on the balance of the scalp microbiome. The microbiome is a crucial community of natural bacteria and diverse microorganisms living on your scalp that must be kept balanced in order to prevent irritations.

The Gisou Honey Infused Scalp Treatment is a lightweight, fast-absorbing, intensive leave-on serum that targets an itchy, oily, dry, irritated and flaky scalp. It is formulated with a powerful blend of Mirsalehi Honey, the proprietary Mirsalehi Bee Garden Oil Blend and 5 natural scalp-targeting actives. The formula deeply nourishes, soothes and instantly helps to replenish and protect, balancing the scalp’s microbiome.

Alongside the Mirsalehi honey, other key ingredients of this 99% natural hydrating formula include:

Ectoine – a powerful, natural anti-irritant which significantly prevents cell damage.

Botanical Complex – an anti-inflammatory blend of Blackcurrant Seed, Sunflower Oil Concentrate & Balloon Vine Extract high in Omega 3 & 6 to replenish and protect the skin barrier.

Probiotic Complex – which promotes a balanced scalp microbiome while providing long-lasting hydration.

Organic Rice Protein – to help soothe the scalp to reduce irritation.

Celery seed – to fight overall scalp discomfort.

The bottle comes with an easy application nozzle which helps to apply small amounts directly onto the scalp. Gisou recommends applying it on dry hair and gently massaging it in, leaving it overnight to absorb without rinsing.

This hair-fabulous product can be found in Sephora stores across the UAE, ready for luscious locks right through the summer.

All You Need to Know About Queen Elizabeth’s Jubilee Parade

If you missed the live broadcast of the Queen’s Jubilee Trooping the Colour parade in London yesterday, then no need to worry, we’ve got all the details on the day’s events.

Thursday 2nd June marked 70 years on the throne for Queen Elizabeth. Many members of the royal family joined together to celebrate this incredibly special occasion, along with people from around the world who gathered outside the palace in London or tuned in to watch the live parade on TV.

As the Queen stepped out onto the royal balcony, she was joined by members of the Royal family. Prince Charles and Camilla were standing to her right, with Prince William, Kate and their children, George, Charlotte and Louis, on her left. Beside them, stood many other working family members who play an active role in royal duties across the country and commonwealth.

Along with the troops and horses that marched, bagpipes were played, cannons were fired and a 70-plane flypast was flown over the top of Buckingham Palace. Spitfires, helicopters and of course the legendary Red Arrows flew above the royal family and the thousands of people who stood below in the crowds that spanned out across London. It was a real moment for Her Highness, her smile revealed her delight as she enjoyed the celebrations and as the coloured smoke left the sky, she finished with a wave before heading back inside.

The Queen looked spectacular in her lilac ensemble which was, of course, paired with another signature matching hat, decorated with delicate embroidery and beading. She wore white gloves, a classic royal brooch and rows of pearls around her neck. She also held a special walking stick that was gifted to her by the royal army.

Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles did not disappoint either. As their husbands Prince Charles and Prince William rode horseback in the processions, the pair sat side-by-side in the horse-drawn carriage, travelling towards Buckingham Palace with the three children and waving to the crowds. Both the pair recycled past outfits, highlighting that even as a royal you can wear an outfit more than once.

Camilla chose a striped, blue dress by Bruce Oldfield, that she previously wore to attend a racing day at Royal Ascot in 2021, and Kate wore a white Alexander McQueen blazer dress with a Philip Treacy hat, previously sporting this ensemble at the G7 Leaders’ reception in 2021. Kate accessorised her outfit with sapphire and diamond earrings that previously belonged to the late Diana, Princess of Wales. The children were beautifully co-ordinated in blue too, and Prince Louis wore the same mini sailor suit that his father, a young Prince William wore to Trooping the Colours in 1985.

There will be many more events across the long weekend, as the Queen, her family and the public celebrate this very special occasion. On Friday, a service of thanksgiving for the Queen’s reign will be broadcast live from St Paul’s Cathedral, Saturday will see ‘Platinum Party at the Palace’ with performances from Elton John, Alicia Keys, Stefflon Don, Craig David and Andrea Bocelli. Celebrations will finish on Sunday as more than 10 million people across the UK, are expected to join in for the ‘big jubilee lunch’, with many more across the Commonwealth, and even some here in Dubai.

Audemars Piguet Opens a New Sustainable Hotel in Switzerland

Inspired by the Vallée de Joux, the new Hôtel des Horlogers opens its doors in Switzerland and is an architectural and sustainable innovation.

If you’re travelling to Switzerland this summer or are looking for a sustainable getaway experience, then Hôtel des Horlogers has just opened in Le Brassus, the home of Audemar Piguet’s stunning museum; the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet, and it’s the perfect location to discover more about the heritage and craftsmanship of the brand, whilst being surrounded by stunning scenery.

Inspired by the Vallée de Joux, the home of watchmaking, the hotel has been designed by Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG), and brought to life by Swiss architecture office CCHE the two partners who also signed the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet situated a few steps away. The hotel was designed after Bjarke Ingels fell in love with the Risoud Forest that borders the Vallée, and specifically conceived the hotel so that all the rooms would offer a breath-taking view of the region.

Departing from the usual codes of hotel architecture, the building consists of slabs that gradually descend towards the valley meadows and building blocks form a series of berms lined with varied trees and plants.

Inside, simple lines and a refined contemporary style contrast with the more sinuous and rustic architectural elements that visitors can admire as they progress inside the building. An interior passageway follows the hotel’s atypical zig-zagging structure and connects the 50 rooms, varying in type from the Valley Guest Room to the Signature Suite. The hotel also encompasses two restaurants and a bar as well as a wellness centre and two seminar rooms.

Not only does this hotel stand out for its incredible, unique architecture, but it has also implemented a holistic sustainable approach. From the building’s materials to its day-to-day operations, it reduces its environmental impact on the planet. A local wood-based heating network supplies the hot water and heating system and the hotels aim to be completely plastic-free, staying away from single-use items and packaging. In addition to this, visitors can also enjoy one of the many charging stations for e-cars and e-bikes.

The Best Men’s Celebrity Style Inspiration this Season

If you’re thinking of changing up your wardrobe or need some new inspiration for summer vacation ensembles, then we’ve got you covered on this season’s latest styles and trends. Keep the shirts short-sleeved for summer sun or layer items up for cooler climates, whatever the weather, we’ve taken inspiration from some of our favourite male style icons.

Austin Butler

If we’re going to begin with anyone, then it’s got to be Austin Butler. Not just because he’s made a huge impact on the red carpet recently at the Cannes Film Festival, but because we are obsessed with his super-cool style. The actor, who plays Elvis Presley in the new “Elvis” film, seems to effortlessly mix casual and classy. We aren’t sure if it’s the hair or the clothes, but something has us reminiscing of the days when stars such as Patrick Swayze and John Travolta were on the big screens. To get Austin’s look, try pairing a simple white t-shirt or short-sleeved button-up shirt from The Row, tucked into pleated Alexander McQueen trousers and an optional relaxed fit blazer on top. Keep the colour palette simple and accessorise with black boots, Jacques Marie Mage shades and a Cartier leather strap watch or simple gold jewellery.

Rami Malek

If you’re looking for something with a little extra colour or some jazzier prints for the summer, then Rami Malek knows how to style it. The American actor, known for his roles in “Mr Robot” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”, perfectly incorporates colourful accents into his sophisticated style, whether it be for a casual or dressy occasion. To achieve Rami’s style, select one of his favourite colourful short-sleeved shirts from Sandro and pair it with a leather belt and high-waist straight leg trousers for casual summer vibes, or alternatively pair it with a smart suit by Dior Homme, make sure to leave out the tie and always have the shirt buttoned to the top.

Lewis Hamilton

Sporty, colourful, oversized or co-ordinating: Lewis Hamilton has sports-chic style perfected. He effortlessly seems to pull off just about anything, no matter the pattern, colour or fit. Lewis’ style has most definitely evolved over the years; from previously playing it safe in white t-shirts and ripped jeans, we now see him making bold fashion statements. Recently named as Valentino’s DI.VAs ambassador, Lewis also shares powerful messages printed on t-shirts, and on more than one occasion, has been seen sporting signature F1 colours and prints in his personal style. To achieve Lewis’s eclectic look, make sure to keep with one bright colour, coordinating it throughout – Valentino and Balenciaga are always good places to start.

Ryan Reynolds

For something a little more stripped back, and a wardrobe you can balance with hectic family life, look to Ryan Reynolds. Married to Blake Lively, the pair boast stylish couple goals. He’s not a celeb that stands out for being edgy or following the latest trend, but more because of his classic, comfortable yet smart masculine style. Ryan is often seen wearing neutral or muted tones paired with denim, and we can’t help but love his bold Tom Ford spectacles that add wisdom to his sophisticated style. Ryan admits that he doesn’t have a lot of fancy clothes, but rather loves a simple selection that is going to stand the test of time, if it’s a Giorgio Armani suit and a pair of leather boots, you won’t go wrong.

Jared Leto

Although his style is not everyone’s cup of tea, you cannot deny that Jared Leto is an absolute fashion icon. He pushes the boundaries of fashion and expresses his personality through his unique sense of style, taking inspiration from history and the fashion world’s archives. Whether at the Met Gala or a Gucci fashion show, he truly makes a statement, and we’ve noticed he loves a good, checkered number too. Jared keeps it casual by adding a good quality flannel shirt over a vest in the summer, paired with some metal rimmed shades. In contrast, he dresses it up in Gucci suits for his big events, the ’70s flared pantsuits in bright colours, patterns and velvet materials give us unmistakable ABBA vibes and the oversized bow tie perfectly finishes the look.

A Fashion Queen: 70 Years of Reigning Style

As Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee approaches, we look back at her most iconic outfits from over the years and discover the brands and designers behind the Queen’s graceful royal style.

Queen Elizabeth II is the longest-reigning monarch in British history, surpassing Queen Victoria in 2015. She is known worldwide by millions, and people from around the globe tune in to hear her Christmas Day speeches, wave flags to welcome her on Commonwealth visits and take trips to see her home, Buckingham Palace, in London.

As Head of State to 14 other countries alongside the United Kingdom, it’s an all-important job making sure she looks her very best on every occasion. Whether it’s meeting His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the UAE, attending a Royal wedding or taking the Corgis out for a winter stroll in her boots, the Queen has always maintained her modest, elegant and regal fashion codes.

Visiting Abu Dhabi in 2010

Since first becoming Queen in 1952, her sense of style has developed and we see her more recently wearing brightly coloured two-piece outfits, perfectly paired with a matching hat. Each of her outfits is meticulously calculated to ensure that she stands out above the busy crowds and that she respects the country culture in which she is visiting.

Queen Elizabeth’s 90th Birthday celebrations in 2016

One of the dressmakers in charge of these important fashion decisions is Angela Kelly, the Queen’s personal style advisor, who is well-known to royal fans in her own right. Over the years they have become good friends and Angela has written two books on her experiences of dressing the Queen. She shares stories of how she finds the right materials for changing lights and how she ensures the Queen’s feet are comfortable in every pair of shoes.

Along with her dressmakers, Queen Elizabeth II has an official Crown Jeweller who designs all the royal jewellery, including tiaras, and a signature handbag supplier by the name of Launer, who has provided her with handbags and small leather goods since 1986.

We can’t wait to see what the Queen wears for her special Jubilee this weekend, we are sure that it will continue royal traditions and be literally fit for a Queen.

From coronation ball gowns to lightweight floral dresses, diamonds, tiaras and jewels to wellies, headscarves and handbags, in celebration of this special occasion, below we remember some of Queen Elizabeth II’s most iconic looks from over the decades:

Sir Lewis Hamilton is the First Menswear Ambassador for the Valentino DI.VAs Campaign

Sir Lewis Hamilton, the Seven-Time Formula One World Champion, will take the stage as the first Valentino menswear ambassador for the Valentino Pink PP Advertising Campaign.

DIVAs, which stands for DI.fferent VA.lues, represents Valentino’s multifaceted character of codes and inner values. Launched by Valentino’s Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli, it continues his conscious and progressive way of creating a culture and uniting diversity. From cinema and music, to literature and sports, each DI.VAs plays a key role in sustaining the new vision and its ambassadors in developing empathy and connection.

Sir Lewis Hamilton, the Seven-Time Formula One World Champion, has been named the first ambassador to represent menswear, joining Zendaya, who is an ambassador for women. Hamilton was selected for his authenticity, individuality, and fierce advocacy work for global equality.

In his short Instagram bio, Lewis writes “Equal rights for all. Love is all”. Few words that say a lot. Lewis is an interpreter; he is able to use his energy to express his authentic and precious self. The talent he spreads with his whole persona goes far beyond his sportive excellence and embraces everything that he does.” said Pierpaolo Piccioli. “As a DI.VAs a testimonial, he stands for diversity, equality and most of all, love. I couldn’t think of a better friend for this campaign. It will give an empathetic, human, inspiring message and it will be true, like the person behind the celebrity.”

Lewis’ approach off the track is just as passionate as behind the wheels, he has used his position, platform and influence to drive change in motorsport and beyond, for future generations launching his own charitable fund, Mission 44 in 2021. The charity aims to support, champion, and empower young people from underrepresented groups in the UK, through strategic partnerships, collaborations, grant-giving and advocacy.

“Great things happen when we embrace our authentic selves, but even greater things happen when we come together to exchange our visions, values, and creativity. I am honoured to be joining forces with Creative Director and friend, Pierpaolo and Valentino, a brand I’ve long admired, to celebrate the Pink PP Collection. I always strive to collaborate with likeminded teams who are committed to making the world a better place, regardless of the barriers that stand in our way. So, to come together and collaborate with Valentino on this powerful campaign is really special.”  said Lewis Hamilton.

The identity of Valentino has no borders and no boundaries and lives in the here and now. An identity that reflects in a new generation.

Launching this Autumn, Hamilton will lend a personal quote to this initiative on the theme of ‘Love,’ which will be displayed in select windows of independent bookstores within London, marking the first time the campaign has entered the UK. We hope to see a collaboration between the two here in the UAE soon.

Dubai-Based Entrepreneur Reem Abou Samra Reveals All on Travel, Beauty and the Red Carpet

Dubai-based beauty entrepreneur and travel enthusiast, Reem Abou Samra, takes us on a whirlwind tour across Europe, taking in some of fashion’s finest events along the way. Here we find out more about her love for travel and the secrets behind her glamourous lifestyle…

When did you develop such a love for travel?

I’ve always loved travel, but I feel as you grow, you appreciate things differently. For me, my inspiration comes from travel – every part of it. From setting off on the journey to the destination itself, and all the little details along the way. I take inspiration from everything – the customer service, the hospitality, the décor, the food, the scenery… but mostly the people. I love meeting people and socialising and it really gives me knowledge of different traditions, nationalities and cultures.

Where did you travel in 2021 and what was your favourite trip?

Due to so many events being postponed in 2020, 2021 was very busy for me, despite restrictions still being in place in many countries. I attended a friend’s beautiful wedding in Seychelles, I went to the Gucci high jewellery event in Stresa, Italy, and I spent time with friends in Europe. There we spent an amazing four weeks dotting between Corsica, Sardinia, Portofino, and St Tropez before heading to Cannes for the Film Festival. I also visited Syria to spend time with family and had a short trip to Beirut. Paris Fashion Week is always on my calendar too! I couldn’t choose a favourite as all were amazing and so different.

And where have you been so far in 2022?

I recently had a wonderful family vacation in the Maldives, where I stayed at the beautiful Milaidhoo Resort with my husband and daughters. The crystal blue waters and the privacy is something that you don’t find often. It’s a true gem. It’s difficult for us to find the time to travel together, so when we do manage it, we cherish the memories that we make. I have also just been to Bari, Italy with Gucci for their Cruise collection show, and the Amalfi coast for the Fendi Experience. Both trips were incredible and inspiring.

And you have just returned from Cannes – tell us about that…

I really love everything about the Cannes Film Festival, and I have attended many times. I genuinely love watching the films and I love to see Chopard’s stunning showroom within the Martinez Hotel. Each year they show their incredible red carpet jewellery creations and I am very lucky to be invited to such special occasions.

Tell us about your typical day at Cannes Film Festival…

I love the whole experience. As there are events that run into the late night, I would usually sleep in in the morning, but once I’m awake I usually meditate before breakfast. I often have breakfast at Hotel Martinez, but I also love to go to Fouquet’s at the Majestic Hotel – there is a very nice vibe, and the food is amazing. I go shopping along the Croisette as the boutiques bring some exclusive pieces, especially for the occasion. My favourites are Gucci, Valentino, Dior, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Balenciaga, but there are some very nice French boutiques with unique designers also. In the afternoon I would go to the Chopard Lounge to browse the jewellery collections. The whole setting was incredible, with lots of celebrities.

The red carpet is my favourite part. It is very inspiring… everyone dresses very uniquely and makes a huge effort. After the screenings, there is usually a dinner hosted by one of the brands very exciting entertainment.

What did you wear for the red carpet?

For one evening I wore a gown by Dubai-based designer, Rami Al Ali. It was a beautiful deep orange crepe silk kaftan with pink ostrich feather trim, from the fall/winter 2022/2023 collection. I love being comfortable on the red carpet and of course when you are going to sit for two hours to watch a film, you cannot wear anything too restricting. I wore this with my limited edition Gucci Broadway heart-shaped shoulder bag in red. There are maybe only four or five in the world in this colour, so it is very special.

For the second red carpet, I wore a multi-coloured printed Chanel gown from the Spring/Summer 2022 collection. I like it as it is flowy and colourful. It feels light and very nice to wear.

And what about Paris Fashion Week?

I love Paris and during fashion week there is a great vibe and energy. There is so much happening and the outfits that you see are amazing. Fashion and beauty are my biggest passions, so I love to see what trends are coming and get inspiration from the streets as well as the runways. When the weather is good, you can do so much. I love long leisurely lunches when you sit and watch the world go by, and my favourite places are L’avenue and Costes. During Fashion Week it is very difficult to get a table at either!

One of my favourite restaurants in Paris is Mun. It is an Asian Fusion cuisine, and it is directly on Champs Elysees, with incredible views including Arc De Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower (which to me is one of the most magical parts of Paris). I’m half French so it always makes me happy to be in France.

What are your beauty travel essentials?

When I travel, I don’t do much differently from my usual routine. I usually I apply all my face creams before I travel so my skin is fully hydrated. The only skincare I use when I’m on a flight is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Balm and I like to use L’Occitane hand cream so my hands don’t dry out.

As the founder of beauty salon LALOGE, what tips do you have to get red carpet-ready when you travel?

For the preparation of the red carpet, I recommend doing a facial two days before to refresh the skin and to keep the complexion glowing. I use a special combination of products that is used at my salons… it is called the LALOGE Beauty Facial and is developed to give a perfect red-carpet glow.

I also make sure that my hair is in perfect condition with some deep conditioning hair treatments to add shine. It goes without saying that I get my hair coloured regularly, but to make sure the colour is amazing for big events, I have my stylist apply a toner to refresh the colour as the sun and swimming water can dull it, especially when it comes to blonde hair. The toner gives an extra sleek shine boost also, so I do this one or two days before a red-carpet event. When it comes to makeup, you need to have a combination of great products and a skilled makeup artist to ensure that your look is not too heavy, but at the same time the foundation must give flawless coverage. The cameras will always make your makeup look less than it is, so you need to have a balance between dramatic for the cameras and not overdone for real life.

Revealed: Roger Vivier’s Vibrant Kaleidochoc Bag Collection

Roger Vivier reveals a new dimension of the house’s signature bag, with vibrant colours and textures for Spring 2022.

The Viv Choc was introduced in 2021 as a new house icon, designed in single colours and inspired by the Choc heel created by Monsieur Vivier in 1959. Roger Vivier’s current Creative Director, Gherardo Felloni, has reimagined this icon, revealing new dimensions for 2022 as he debuts the Kaleidochoc bag.

The 20-piece collection of day and evening bags explores the iconic style through a myriad of artisanal crafts. The result is endless possibilities of colour, texture, and detail that captivate like a mesmerising kaleidoscope, constantly changing pattern and sequence.

Precious beading and embroidery are just some of the innovations explored, as art, jewels, and the Vivier DNA combines on either leather, satin, or velvet materials, on which Gherardo Felloni invokes the savoir-faire of the Maison.

“Each bag is a set of materials and colors created by the layering of embroideries and prints, making them as unique as a kaleidoscope view,” said Gherardo Felloni, adding, “The house artisans engaged in specialized techniques on each bag. Printing, inlays that create threading effects; contrasting tones, water-drilling, mattress stitching that mimic handwoven straw chairs, and refined handiwork are some of the ways the collection was constructed.”

Supporting this important launch is Camille Razat, the captivating French actress who co-stars in “Emily in Paris”. She is featured in a campaign empowering strong, elegant women who desire to feel glamorous and beautiful. The bag acts as the perfect companion showing the ease of carrying this unique bag with any look. Camille Razat was selected as she perfectly represented the spirit of the design and France, following Roger Vivier’s deep connection with the country’s most famous ladies.

Roger Vivier stores across the world, including Dubai, ignite in a reflective explosion, emphasizing the bag’s vibrant nature. The Kaleidochoc mise en scene can be found in stores now, inviting customers to discover this dramatic new collection.

Revealed: A New English Edition of ‘Dare to Dream: How Mohammed bin Rashid Made His Dreams Come True’ is Now Available

Dare to Dream: How Mohammed bin Rashid Made His Dreams Come True’, has been launched in English at the Abu Dhabi International Bookfair.

After the enormous success of the Arabic edition of ‘Dare to Dream: How Mohammed bin Rashid Made His Dreams Come True’, was released earlier this year in February, the English version has now been launched at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022.

The book, which was written by Raed Barqawi, offers insights into how His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum’s exceptional mind and unique approach turned his ambitious Dubai dream into reality. The book looks back on the history of his success, and how his vision and leadership have shaped Dubai into becoming the exceptional, forward-thinking, modern city that it is today.

Raed Barqawi is one of the most respected journalists in the region and is the Executive Editor-in-Chief of Al Khaleej newspaper. He has enjoyed a front-row seat for over three decades watching Sheikh Mohammed’s dreams turn into reality.

He said: “In this book, I have tried to show how His Highness Sheikh Mohammed is one of those few men preoccupied with changing the world for the better. He has allowed millions to dream and to redraw the boundaries of what we consider possible.”

“It is fascinating to be surrounded by a personality like His Highness, who has been racing against time to an extent that might surprise you. His persistence and ambition pushed me to dig deeper into the history of the UAE over the past fifty years and shed a light on how dreams can be achieved in a race to become #1 globally. With assertiveness and will, His Highness decided to dream for his country and his people, and today we are harvesting the results of these dreams. I would like to extend my appreciation and thanks to my publisher and all those who helped in bringing this book to its readers.” Mr. Barqawi added.

This year’s edition of the Abu Dhabi international book fair took place between 23rd-29th May with a mix of educational and professional sessions designed to emphasise the power of reading.

If you missed the launch, then you can find both Arabic and English versions available for purchase at booksarabia.com. All royalties from the book’s sales will be donated to Al Noor Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities.

Tag Heuer’s Latest Monaco Grand Prix Special Edition Timepiece

To mark this year’s Monaco Grand Prix which took place on 29th May 2022, TAG Heuer,  the official sponsor, released a new special edition of its iconic timepiece which bears the same name as the prestigious F1 race.

It was a dramatic day for the Grand Prix in Monaco recently, with heavy rainfall, delayed starts and unexpected tyre changes making it a memorable day in this year’s racing calendar. The Monaco Grand Prix is the most iconic Formula One race of the year, and to recognise this legendary track, Tag Heuer has developed its latest “Monaco Grand Prix, Special Edition Timepiece”.

From its first introduction in 1969, the TAG Heuer Monaco chronograph has challenged every aspect of watchmaking with its fearless innovation and was one of the first automatic chronographs during this time. The timepiece was named “Monaco” capturing the duality of the watch and reflecting the unmatched luxury and contrasting danger of the legendary Formula 1 race.

Now, over 50 years after the introduction of the original Monaco, TAG Heuer is releasing a special edition of the legendary watch. Racing enthusiasts and lovers of bold, innovative watches alike can enjoy this special edition Monaco that uses modern materials and a sleek finish.

The design of the timepiece hints at symbols of the F1, from the circle at the centre of the dial reflecting the speed and smoothness of racing and the grained finish exterior reflecting the grip of the tyres and track to the gold elements, reminding today’s enthusiasts of previous Formula 1 champions who wore their gold Heuer chronographs on the track.

Made of titanium and coated with DLC (diamond-like carbon), this high-performance material offers a unique combination of strength and a lightweight feel whilst remaining free of corrosion. Other features of the watch include an 80-hour power reserve, rose gold-plated oscillating mass, a sapphire case-back and a black leather alligator strap.

This special edition watch is available in TAG Heuer boutiques and on www.tagheuer.com presented in packaging that evokes the racing heritage of the Monaco collection.

Cannes Film Festival: Closing Ceremony and Palme d’Or Award

The Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony was held this weekend and the Chopard Palme d’Or was presented. We discover the winners, and the final red carpet looks.

We cannot believe the Cannes Film Festival has come to an end already, it has been a spectacular fortnight, with glitz, glamour, and some emotional moments shared too. We’ve seen a host of celebrities on the red carpet and prestigious awards presented, but it’s time to say goodbye for now until next year.

Each year, at the closing ceremony, Chopard presents a special Palme d’Or award, one of the most honourable awards in the industry. We previously saw Tom Cruise win a similar award at the beginning of the festival, for his role in ‘Top Gun: Maverick’, but this most recent Palme d’Or award goes to the best new film.

The winner of the prestigious award went to Ruben Ostlund’s ‘Triangle of Sadness’, an internationally co-produced film which sees a cruise for the super-rich that sinks, leaving survivors, including a fashion model celebrity couple, trapped on an island. This is the second time the Swedish director has won the award, having also won it in 2017 for ‘The Square’.

“When we started to make this film I think we had one goal – to really, really try to make an exciting film for the audience and bring thought-provoking content,” Reuben Ostlund said, adding: “We wanted to entertain them, we wanted them to ask themselves questions, we wanted them to after the screening go out and have something to talk about.”

Scene from Triangles of Sadness

This year the trophy was redesigned by Caroline Scheufele, Chopard’s President, in honour of two anniversaries. The first is the Cannes Film Festival’s 75th anniversary and the second is the festival’s partnership with Chopard, which celebrates 25 years. The trophy was created with a unique rose-quartz stone and embellished with 100 diamonds on the golden palm, to mark the two coinciding anniversaries.

Along with the cast of the winning film was a host of celebrities that gathered for the final event of the festival. See our favourite final looks from the red carpet below:

Coach Launches an Immersive Pillow Experience

Coach introduces the Coach Pillow Experience, an immersive installation created in collaboration with artist Cyril Lancelin.

If you’re heading to the mall for some retail therapy this week, then check out Coach’s latest installation. The brand has launched an immersive experience here in Dubai, previously appearing in London and Berlin. The pop up is displayed in the Mall of the Emirates and is inspired by Coach’s playful approach to its authentic American heritage, and one of their bag collections, the Pillow Tabby, a plush take on the house’s beloved shoulder bag named after its soft, quilted silhouette.

The experience invites guests to explore a giant, pillow-like structure. Crafted in a soft pink, the structure is designed by Cyril Lancelin, an artist known for his work made up of sculptures, immersive installations, drawings, virtual experiences and videos that forge links between the physical and the fictional. The geometric structure is finished, like the Pillow Tabby with the signature Coach emblem.

“Inspired by a desire for comfort, touch and affection, the Pillow Tabby was originally designed in response to the times we were living through,” said Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “The experience we created with Cyril builds on this story, inviting clients into a soft, playful world inspired by our Pillow Tabby.”

The Pillow Tabby

Created to celebrate Dubai’s reopening, the immersive experience will also come to life digitally through an AR treasure hunt.

“I’m thrilled to be working with Coach, a brand with such a unique identity and that shares my passion for innovation,” said Lancelin. “The soft and embracing nature of the Pillow Tabby served as inspiration for the structure, its intertwining shapes a comforting escape from the outside world. It’s very exciting to marry fashion and public art in such an immersive way, encouraging a dialogue between the structure and its visitors.”

This immersive experience is open now and will run until June 4th.

Balenciaga Reveals a Fury Pop-Up in Dubai

To celebrate the Le Cagole line, Balenciaga has launched a fun, furry pop-up store in Dubai.

If you’re heading to The Dubai Mall this weekend, then don’t miss the latest pop-up from Balenciaga. The brand has made an impact recently for its alternative, daring displays on Instagram and on the catwalk, and this pop-up follows suit.

Located on the ground floor, next to Fashion Avenue, the Balenciaga pop-up celebrates the Le Cagole line. The collection, which now includes multiple bag, wallet, and shoe styles, reinvents Balenciaga codes in the tradition of maximalist, Le Cagole suggests another era, taking its name from French slang that refers to an over-the-top attitude.

The activation is in keeping with the spirit of the line as every inch is covered entirely with bright pink faux fur. Shelves, displays, floors, seating, and even racks in the open-plan kiosks are lined in pink material. It’s a perfect display for those Instagram selfies.

When purchasing an item from the pop-up, customers have the option to customise, either with foil-stamped initials on a leather bag’s hanging cardholder or with crystal strass-studded initials on a denim bag’s hanging heart-shaped mirror.

The pop-up began on the 24th May and is available to visit until June 2nd.

FRED Reveals its 2022 Jewellery Collection

We discover the latest jewellery additions to FRED’s iconic collections, each one telling a story.

Force 10 XL

Symbolising courage, strength and surpassing oneself, the Force 10 bracelet has become an iconic piece for the brand. Since it was first designed, 55 years ago, the piece has been constantly reinvented without losing its contemporary relevance. For the first time, the signature buckle becomes XL-sized. The striking, clean lines take on the outsized proportions supported by a cable of steel or gold, this gives the bracelet a more masculine style, that women will also want to embrace for its audacious look. Designed in white, yellow or pink gold, the interchangeable Force 10 XL bracelet offers new wearing options, enabling the wearer to mix and match with two-tone, two-materials as they wish.

Force 10 Colour Crush

In 2020, FRED launched the Force 10 collection’s first multicoloured buckle. Christened ‘Force 10 Colour Crush’, it now gives rise to new buckles, interchangeable cables and bracelets with multiple buckles in joyful, lively colours. This colourful collection represents an invitation to a party thrown by FRED, a colourful and joyful celebration quivering with energy. The bracelet is paved with nearly 350 fine and precious stones, including pink sapphires (tokens of wisdom), amethysts (proof of power and respect) and blue topazes (for open-mindedness). The interchangeable design is available in large or medium sizes.

Force 10 Precious Small

For this delicate, feather-light new variation of its buckle, FRED reinterprets the smaller versions of its iconic Force 10. These elegant designs feature the iconic buckle placed onto fine diamond trape-chain necklaces, sophisticated stud earrings and delicate cable rings. Each piece is paved with white diamonds that add a touch of sparkle. This elegant collection is simple and classic and can be worn in different ways as the seasons or moods change.

Chance Infinie Lucky Medal

Chance Infinie, the talisman with a subtle charm, has taken on a new size. The charm is embodied in a double-bow motif inspired by the lemniscate, the universal symbol of infinity and eternity. Chance Infinie pays tribute to the incredible faith in his own destiny that drove Fred Samuel throughout his life. In this oversized format, the charm comes clothed in three types of natural hard stone: mother-of-pearl, onyx, malachite and carnelian, attached to a 90cm-long chain.

Chance Infinie Crazy 8

Chance Infinie’s elegant linkwork has been delicately applied to three new pieces of High Jewellery. Their ultra-feminine appeal features the Maison’s signature changeable option, the pear-shaped diamond can be detached from the necklace and each earring features a double bow with neither beginning nor end, recalling the number 8, a special significance for Fred Samuel. In addition to these two pieces, completing this set is a ring.

Pretty Women Hardstone Necklaces

The Pretty Woman collection celebrates love in all its facets. Joyful, free-spirited, spontaneous, universal. For its first birthday, this collection gains six new necklaces adorned in vivid, changeable hardstone. Offered in two sizes in pink gold, the new openwork heart within the heart has a surprise in store. The reversible piece has two contrasting sides, one white and the other black or green, reminding us that, as often happens in love, opposites attract and combine.
