The perfume celebrates France’s tradition of fine perfumes, of which it is the worthy heir, and the high-end perfumes of the Middle East. Combining the raw materials in a unique way, Chopard has created an unexpected, voluptuous, flavourful yet reassuring iris unlike any other.
Perfumer Dora Baghriche worked with the extraordinary richness of iris and blended it with others in a highly distinctive manner. The iris, that timeless ingredient of French perfumery, is thus enveloped in all the sensuality of the Middle East.
“I saw purple appearing behind the tonka bean: an iris. When I settled on my first accord, I built the perfume around sandalwood to give it a milky aspect and endow the iris with an extremely feminine allure. It has very oriental, very rich overtones. I also worked with benzoin and patchouli, along with other emblematic Middle Eastern materials, like labdanum and olibanum. I used hints of these so as not to camouflage the iris which remains central, combining them with cinnamon and cardamom. I wanted an inviting, silky iris. There is a trace of raspberry in the background which goes well with the iris.” Explained Baghriche

This summer’s edition of the annual Monte Carlo Summer Festival saw international superstar Christina Aguilera wow fans with a spectacular performance.
The 41-year-old singer opened her concert in Monaco with a slurry of blistering hits including Dirrty, Can’t Hold Us Down, Bionic and the classic Genie In A Bottle.
After taking to the stage at 10.30pm at the stunning venue of Salle des Étoiles, Xtina received an enthusiastic reaction from the Monaco crowd.
The Monte Carlo Summer Festival audience sang along religiously to every song, with many even knowing the lyrics to some of the Spanish language tracks too.
Xtina, who is set to tour across the UK in August, showed that she still is the queen of vocal acrobatics as she flexed her four-octave vocal range.
Mixing together different genres and slipping effortlessly between ballads and upbeat dance numbers The Voice mentor kept the exclusive crowd hanging off her every decibel.

As her barnstorming performance came to a close she rounded out the concert with perhaps her most recognisable hit, Beautiful.
Xtina thanked the audience for their support and adoration before exiting the stage to more rapturous applause as red roses rained down from the crowd, having given them a five-star performance.

Model Gigi Hadid has given fans a glimpse of her debut clothing line Guest in Residence.
The model’s latest project is said to begin with a knitwear collection. Gigi shared a sneak peek of materials used on the first collection on her Instagram account.
She used the caption “Been workin on something….with love, @guestinresidence :),”.

The model has also updated her bio to reflect her new job role, changing the text in her bio to “founder, creative director @guestinresidence.”
So far, only a few details have been revealed surrounding the project but it’s thought to be the model’s first independent fashion project having previously teamed up with Tommy Hilfiger and Frankie’s Bikinis on collaborative projects.

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic version in which hypnosis or your state of mind is usually done with an expert therapist. While there is not a single way to hypnotise, there are varied ways hypnosis is applied and different types that can address certain aspects of your life including fears, goals and health conditions.
Here, Yesmin listed down the different stages you go through when getting hypnotized:
BETA
Beta can be described as your state of awareness or waking consciousness. During this state, you have a strongly engaged mind – alert and able to comprehend communication. A teacher or a debater who is in active conversation would be in beta.
ALPHA
The alpha state is when your brain waves are awake and resting. Here, you feel more relaxed yet focused and receptive to new information and suggestions. Because you become calmer at this stage, you tend to make better decisions.
THETA
Theta brain waves usually occur when you’re drifting off to sleep and you start to achieve a deeply relaxed state of mind. As it regulates cortisol levels within your body, it lowers heightened stress and anxiety levels making you process ideation better. It is typically a very positive mental state where tasks become so automatic that you can mentally disengage from them.
DELTA
Delta is the deepest state of hypnosis and is a highly restorative state where awareness is fully detached. It is mostly associated with the deepest levels of relaxation and healing sleep. At this state, you are not aware of what your therapist is saying but suggestions are being accepted.
Hypnotherapy can definitely create and set a roadmap for powerful changes in your life if done correctly. “I try to help my clients release their emotional baggage and traumas. I guide them towards their goals, mental health and spirituality.” added Yesmin.

Audemars Piguet has released a new edition of its Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Perpetual Calendar.
The elegant design combines an 18-carat white gold case with a blue aventurine dial with a matching textured rubber-coated strap. The limited edition timepiece continues the Manufacture’s long history of calendar watches whilst bringing the collection into the next generation and celebrating the watchmaker’s creativity.

The blue dial mirrors a star-lit sky with its deep blue tone and scattered diamonds. The glass has been thinly cut so it is clear visibility of the details of the watch. The moon phase at 6 o’clock has been reproduced through laser engraving and applied on a thin aventurine disc. The day number and weekday, respectively located at 3 and 9 o’clock, as well as the month indication at 12 o’clock are also presented on aventurine subdials.
The week numbers have been transferred onto the corresponding blue lacquered inner bezel and the white gold hour-markers and hands add a subtle contrast while recalling the colour of the case and crown. The double curved sapphire crystal that seamlessly integrates the extra-thin bezel’s curvature completes the watch’s overall design while providing a unique visual effect onto the dial.
This new 18-carat white gold version complements the perpetual calendar model crafted in 18-carat pink gold unveiled in 2019 for the launch of the collection. The white gold extra-thin bezel, stylised lugs, octagonal case middle as well as round caseback provide an elegant contrast with the blue aventurine dial.

The alternation of satin-brushing and polished chamfers adorning the different components add an interesting play of light, while accentuating the complex architecture of the Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet collection.
Conceived with both women and men in mind, this complicated wristwatch will sit comfortably on all wrists thanks to the 41 mm case’s ergonomic curvature.
It is finished with a dark blue rubber-coated calfskin strap with a textured motif giving a highly contemporary look to this classic complication.

Louis Vuitton’s Men’s Pre Spring 2023 collection “Fall in Love” features some of the last design ideas by Virgin Abloh before his tragic death. His ideas were carried out by the creative teams and collaborators with whom he continually worked at Louis Vuitton who are continuing the designer’s legacy with this latest collection.
The collection celebrates the parallels between a disc jockey and a designer through memories of the legendary Loft Parties created by the American disc jockey David Mancuso in 1970s New York. Virgil loved music and saw the two words of fashion and music closely interlinked.

Popularly considered the first-ever DJ, David Mancuso brought together diverse groups of people under the unifying power of music. The listening parties he hosted in his New York apartment, The Loft were legendary and came at an era-defining moment.

This collection much like the parties of that time features a contemporary silhouette inspired by stage wear, with a playful 1970s touch. Snug jackets and trousers feature flared finishes and wide cuts, while rollnecks and jackets become statement pieces.

A two-button notch-lapel black suit mirrors the clubwear ease of a sculpted black tracksuit and logos appear in seventies-style text, promoting the imaginary Louis Vuitton single “Love Potion”. An optical print interprets the monograms of Louis Vuitton in an illusory pattern and while shirts are adorned in music notes nod to the parallels between sound and fashion.

Workwear covered in grease-effect paint motifs pays homage to the idea of the artist and bird prints which feature throughout the collection offer a symbol of freedom.

The collection also features bags in the same spirit: a Taurillon Denim line fuses leather and denim with tan contrast-stitching and comes in a Keepall, a briefcase, a Christopher backpack, a foldable tote, a duo messenger, and a series of small leather goods. A Record Canvas line in monogram takes inspiration from archive Louis Vuitton notebooks and evokes a vintage sensibility.

Valentino presents the PINK PP Men’s and Women’s campaigns starring global icons Zendaya and Lewis Hamilton.
The full-pink images reflect the theme of the PINK PP collection and the show which saw Pierpaolo Piccioli strip down the collection to reflect one single hue.

Tiffany & Co. has ventured into the world of NFTs with the new NFTiff collection.
Partnering with blockchain technology innovators Chain, the limited-edition NFTiff pass will be available for purchase in early August through the House’s online NFTiff gateway.
The NFTiff pass holders have the exclusive opportunity to mint a custom Tiffany & Co. pendant inspired by the owner’s CryptoPunk and receive a digital render of the pendant as an NFT and a certificate of authenticity.

“We are incredibly excited to announce the debut of NFTiff, bringing our clients the rare opportunity to turn CryptoPunks into custom Tiffany & Co. jewellery designs through a fully digital experience,” said Alexandre Arnault, Executive Vice President, Product and Communication at Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co.’s designers have transformed NFT CryptoPunks into custom-designed pendants working with87 attributes and 159 colours that appear across the collection of 10,000 CryptoPunk NFTs to match with the most similar gemstone or enamel colour. Each pendant will be comprised of at least 30 gemstones and/or diamonds to create a custom design with the highest fidelity to the original NFT art.
The pendants will be produced in 18k rose or yellow gold and will be on an adjustable chain between 18–22 inches composed of rectangular links that draw inspiration from the shape of square pixels. Limited in supply, only 250 pendants will be produced, each engraved with its CryptoPunks edition number on the back. A limit of three NFTiff passes will be available for purchase per individual.
The idea behind NFTiff came about organically earlier this year after Alexandre Arnault shared a photo of his custom jewellery interpretation of CryptoPunk #3167 on social media, created by Tiffany’s artisans and inspired by his NFT. Chain’s CEO showed enthusiasm for the piece and worked with Tiffany & Co. to create the NFTiff pass an online gateway, nft.tiffany.com.

Amna Al Hashemi became the first female chef in the UAE to open her own restaurant. Her family eatery Mitts & Trays now has three prime locations in Dubai as it welcomes guests to experience home-style food in a comfortable and relaxed environment.
But food hasn’t always been at the forefront of Amna’s life. As a child, she was a picky eater who never spent much time in the kitchen. Her career in PR was a world away from her culinary work, but one day, after deciding to leave her job, Amna discovered her passion for cooking and soon decided she had found her calling in life. She trained as a pastry chef at Dubai’s International Centre for Culinary Arts and she opened her first branch of Mitts & Trays in City Walk. Taking inspiration from Emirati cuisine Amna put her own twist on classic dishes and gave them a modern touch.
Today, Mitts & Trays has three Dubai locations including the new branch in Dubai Hills. Amna delights in helping others, especially women, find their passion for cooking. She engages in mentorship programmes and helps to inspire young women to follow in her footsteps. We find out more.

Where did your passion for cooking begin?
I never knew that one day I would have a career associated with food! When I was young I was always a picky eater and extremely messy so my mother did her best not to let me in the kitchen! But in 2015, I left my job and I became very bored at home. I decided to experiment with different fields: art, design, makeup, and retail, but none of them felt right. Until one day my sister-in-law (who is an amazing cook) asked me to help her make a cheesecake from scratch. I couldn’t believe the relief and peacefulness I felt during the process and how pleased I was afterwards. From that day, I started reading and experimenting with pastries and hot dishes. I feel very lucky that I was able to discover my passion and to be working in the culinary field.
You switched careers to turn this passion into a career – tell us about your decision and what was the biggest challenge you had to overcome?
It was definitely risky. Deciding to settle for a career with an unpredictable income in a very challenging and competitive field was tough. However, having a supportive husband, family and friends, in addition to working with a qualified team made it much easier. Sometimes your biggest challenge is changing yourself.
My biggest challenge has been delegation. Working alone at home is very different from running a restaurant in a public area. Letting go of some of the responsibilities and delegating to the rest of the team was hard but necessary and of course, eventually made my life easier.

Tell us about your mission for Mitts & Trays and why you decided to open it?
My goal with Mitts & Trays was and still is to have a family-owned and operated restaurant that’s genuine and authentic. And I think we have achieved that. I am always there, either working in a corner or in the kitchen with the chefs, and my husband also spends much of his time there engaging with customers. Before COVID, I even had the kids volunteer every Saturday as hosts! Our mission is to provide outstanding service and serve our guests high-quality, genuine wholesome dishes in a cosy and relaxed environment.
What is your vision for the company and can we expect to see it grow further?
We are definitely growing, steadily and consciously. We have big plans ahead of us. We are very keen to open new concepts, utilising our central kitchen, and exploring other culinary fields.

In a country with so many options when it comes to dining, how do you stand out from others?
I never thought of standing out to be honest. I truly believe that having a clear identity makes a big difference. Excellent food and service and maintaining this consistency have always been our target from the very beginning.
What is the biggest challenge you face in what you do?
There are a few challenges that come to mind but finding qualified employees that are willing to grow with you has been the biggest challenge so far.

How do you balance your time?
Barely! Having four young children and trying to run a business is very difficult. But as I mentioned before, being surrounded by supportive people has made this easier. For instance, when I need to be with the kids, my husband will take over in the restaurant.
What is your favourite cuisine or dish to cook?
It depends on my craving at that moment! I enjoy hot dishes more than pastries and right now I would say Asian cuisine is at the top of my list.

What are three dishes we should order from the menu at Mitts & Trays?

In this issue we celebrate Emirati Women’s Day – what does this day mean to you?
Emirati women’s day is a day that celebrates determination, persistence, and complete commitment. It celebrates the ambitious Emirati woman who manages to hold the fort at home while working hard to pursue her dreams. A day that sheds the light on the superhero working mothers, the irreplaceable stay-at-home mums, the nurturing wives, the loving daughters, and the supportive sisters.
What is a message that you would send to other women in the UAE who are hoping to follow their dreams?
It is not an easy road, but having people around you who believe in you and are keen to support your growth makes it easier and more enjoyable.
How do you think it has become more accepted over the last few years for women in the UAE to follow their dreams and take on different types of jobs?
Throughout the years, our leaders have always been supportive of the youth in general and of women in particular. They have dedicated valuable time and resources to inspire and encourage us to pursue our goals. They helped us to understand that we are able to take on any career we wish, and they have encouraged us to grow and compete with global talents.
Tell us about some of the work you do to train and mentor other women who want to be part of the industry.
Currently, I am participating as one of the mentors in the Bentley Extraordinary Women Initiative, where we get the opportunity to mentor young women who are interested in pursuing a career in various fields including Food & Beverage and Hospitality. It is a three-month-long mentorship programme where the students get a chance to take a closer look at our field, go through the various departments, and shadow us. It has been an enjoyable experience so far, and I hope I get to do more of this in the future.
Who is a woman that inspires you?
I have to say that would be my mother. Her dedication to raising us and her tenacity has always inspired me to be who I am today.
What is the professional motto that you live by?
I keep reminding myself: “If you get tired, learn to rest, not to quit.”
Miu Miu’s Day-Night collection is a portrait of rebel youth, emerging out of darkness into light. Miuccia Prada continues her rediscovery of the Miu Miu identity, drawing on the past to build the future and on codes that are at once familiar – obsessional – and new; personal and universal.
In that same spirit, eveningwear merges with daywear, specifically uniform, in many ways, sliced and slashed as proportions are continuously reinvented and the character of the looks themselves – and of the people who wear them – come to the forefront. Skirts are pleated and shirts and jackets are radically cropped, leaving midriffs bare.

The quintessentially bourgeois tailleur is edged with oversized crystals and merged with a sportswear silhouette. Bright white tennis skirts, with Miu Miu branding stamped onto go-faster stripes, are worn low on the hip with brief cardigans in fondant shades. Sinuous satin tea dresses are sensual, suggestive of the body beneath, but finished with naïve puff sleeves. Gregoire Berger of Dubai-based Michelin-starred restaurant Ossiano and Asia’s Best Female Chef, Natsuko Shoji, of Japan’s été are joining forces to create an unforgettable 10-course menu.

Titled “The Genesis”, the duo’s collaborative efforts will highlight their respective culinary approaches, paying homage to seasonality and world-class produce to create a series of exceptional dishes representative of works of art.

Across each evening diners are invited to embark upon an immersive journey, focusing on a story specially crafted by the creative duo. Every chapter of the story is interpreted through the culinary lens of each chef, with surprises at every turn.
Diners can expect dishes from Berger, including a colourful eel, nori and orange tartlet, and the chef’s much-loved black truffle Croque monsieur. Shoji’s interpretations include a uni tart, ayu (sweetfish) taco with fruit salsa and a decadent caviar Mille Feuille which expertly combines pastry techniques into a savoury dish.

After meeting Natsuko earlier this year and being blown away by her talent and global accolades, I wanted to introduce diners in Dubai to someone I personally feel is one of the most talented female Chefs anywhere on the planet.”
Natsuko Shoji adds, “It is such an outstanding opportunity and honour to work with Chef Gregoire. As a Japanese chef, I’ve learnt a lot about the finest seafood, but his deep understanding of the sea environment and seafood inspires me a lot. Belgian leather master Delvaux is continuing to push the boundaries of its leather-working expertise by reinterpreting two of its most iconic bags using new craftsmanship techniques.
Focusing on the Leather D technique the 200-year-old house offers a unique treatment on the Brilliant and the Pin bags. Water jet-cut leather panels are intertwined with hand-sewn, D-shaped, delicate tiles of leather that add unexpected flexibility, movement, and fluidity.

The brand also explores the Enlaced technique by creating a delicate length of leather ‘lace’ for each bag, wrapping it in a serpentine-like fashion around the signature D-shaped buckle of the Cool Box Mini, and the emblematic buckle and curved handle of the Brillant PM.
The collection has been brought to life through a series of images of extraordinary women taken by South African photographer Koto Bolofo.
