Founder and Editor-in-Chief, a&e magazine. Lebanese living in Dubai.

To celebrate our editor-in-chief’s birthday we asked her the following questions:
How are you celebrating your birthday this year?
Well, celebrations started a few days ago with my childhood friends, while I was in Beirut. I also had a nice surprise from my team in Dubai, but today I’m celebrating with my family.
What is the best thing about getting older?
I won’t give you a cliché answer like getting wiser since that’s not always the case with all. Let’s just say you keep on discovering more and more about yourself and the more you learn the more you’re at peace with the way you look at life.
What would you like as a birthday gift this year?
I can give you a long list of things, but greetings and genuine well wishes from my friends and loved ones will do.
What’s your morning routine before work?
I usually wake up at 6:00 a.m. with the kids and have coffee while they have their milk. I play the referee during their morning arguments and get ready for work after they leave for school.
What is the the greatest gift you’ve ever received?
My two kids, a gift from God. They give me my power and the feeling of being complete.
How do you decide what to wear in the morning?
That depends on my agenda. If I don’t have meetings or any specific functions, you’ll see me in a pair of jeans and flats. If it’s a busy day then I put more effort into it. In both scenarios, I’ll balance comfort and elegance with any look I create.
Three items you can’t live without?
My iPhone, lip balm and a black blazer jacket.
Favourite place you like to go to in Dubai?
I’ve been travelling a lot, so I’m missing a lot of great new places lately. However, my all-time favourite restaurants are Zuma, Em Sherif and La Serre; or a chill out lounge like Jetty Lounge at the One&Only Royal Mirage.
What did you do last night?
I had dinner with my team and celebrated two occasions: my deputy’s engagement and my birthday.
Complete the sentence: My perfect holiday would be…
Anywhere around the world, surrounded by beautiful nature and a happy state of mind.
What book are you reading at the moment?
“Mind Maps for Business” by Tony Buzan
Tell us a fact about you that nobody knows.
I am not a fan of cooking.
Your favourite designer at the moment?
I wouldn’t name a specific designer because I favour many, since each is known for a specific aesthetic or style. I have a lot of respect for Gucci’s Alessandro Michele who is changing the face of fashion.
Your current style inspiration?
Queen Rania of Jordan.
Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?
My best friends.
Three things you hate?
Hypocrites, pessimism and foie gras.
What’s your personal motto?
“Always remember to fall asleep with a dream and wake up with a purpose.”
How do you want the world to remember you?
As a caring mother, a loyal friend and a passionate positive person who dreamt, achieved and loved life.
What would you tell yourself on your birthday?
I promise that I’ll try to stress less at work and I’ll make sure that every day is a happy day – no matter what.
What are you wishing for this year?
Peace of mind, good health and more prosperous achievements professionally.
