Lebanese designer Ziad Nakad has unveiled L’Hortense, his Spring–Summer 2027 ready-to-wear collection, drawing inspiration from the hydrangea and its delicate blossoms in shades of blue, pink, white and violet.

The collection explores contemporary femininity through the symbolism of the flower, celebrating a woman who can adapt to change while remaining true to herself. According to the house, L’Hortense embodies a modern woman who is graceful yet resilient, alluring yet assured, with a strength rooted in versatility and an elegance that allows her to flourish in different circumstances.
The hydrangea provides a central metaphor for this vision. Its blossoms can change colour from pink to blue depending on the nature of the soil, reflecting the collection’s emphasis on transformation, individuality and authenticity.

This theme carries through to the collection’s colour palette, which combines soft pastels with delicate pinks, warm beiges, verdant greens, serene blues and vibrant reds. Subtle touches of gold introduce an element of opulence, while painterly gradations allow hues to flow into one another, echoing the layered petals of the flower. The interplay of colour across the silhouettes is designed to evoke the movement and vitality of a summer garden.

Fabric and embellishment play an equally important role in expressing the collection’s romantic sensibility. Ethereal tulle, embroidered tulle, intricately embellished crepe, structured taffeta and delicate mousseline bring together contrasting qualities of lightness and texture.
Floral motifs appear throughout the fabrics, recreating the intricate arrangements of hydrangea blossoms. Sheer layers and airy textures lend the silhouettes a dreamlike softness, reinforcing the collection’s connection to nature.

Embroidery remains central to Maison Ziad Nakad’s design identity. In L’Hortense, delicate metallic threads and intricate floral compositions combine with the collection’s colours and textures, tracing the rhythm of petals in bloom. Each detail reflects the craftsmanship and artistic sensibility associated with the house.
Through its botanical inspiration, nuanced palette and emphasis on intricate embellishment, L’Hortense presents a vision of femininity shaped by both delicacy and strength. For Spring–Summer 2027, Nakad places transformation at the heart of his creative approach, using the hydrangea as a symbol of a woman whose ability to evolve is inseparable from her individuality.
