Fascinated by the time-honoured skill of Murano glassmaking and its incredible effects, Giorgio Armani has extending his specialised Armani/Casa home range this year with some beautiful Murano glass accessories.

The Joachim
Master glassmakers and their two assistants – known as servente and serventino – still repeat the same procedures that were carried out by their forebears eight hundred years ago. The two assistants handle the long metal pipe used by the master to blow glass into the desired shape.

Jaime grey table lamp
The Armani/Casa collection now includes the Jolanda lantern, which comes as a red and dove grey table lamp with a bronze base, or as a dove grey floor lamp. Then there is the Jaime table lamp, with a bronze base and a dove grey Murano glass lampshade, and the Jared reading lamp in dove grey.

Hank lamp in orange
The major success of the Hack lamp, launched last year, has led to the creation of a new orange version and a smaller, lantern version in dove grey, orange or red, designed for LED tea lights. The centrepieces and vases of the Joachim series are individually blown without using moulds, and have coloured glass inclusions. There are also individually blown glasses, wine glasses and bottles with red or blue glass decorations, and the Jaspide range of paperweights, moulded by hand into the shape of a scorpion.
