During Salone del Mobile, the international furniture fair, Prada unveiled the final space of the Fondazione and opened it to the public.
Designed by Rem Koolhass, Torre is the final addition to the foundation. It further develops the repertoire of different exhibition conditions that together define the architectural vision of the foundation, characterized by a variety of oppositions and fragments.
Each of the nine floors of 60-meters high offers an original perception of the internal environments thanks to a specific combination of three spatial parameters. The external façades are characterized by an alternation of concrete and glass surfaces, which allows exposure from a northern, eastern or western side on the different floors, whereas the top gallery space is exposed to zenithal light. ⠀
A permanent exhibition Atlas will showcase works from the Prada Collection displayed in a sequence of environments incorporating solos and confrontations, created through assonances or contrasts, between artists such as Carla Accardi and Jeff Koons, Walter De Maria, Mona Hatoum and Edward Kienholz and Nancy Reddin Kienholz, Michael Heizer and Pino Pascali.
There is also a restaurant housing a series of artworks for the likes of Tobias Rehberger and John Wesley along with some furnishings from Philip Johnson’s iconic Four Seasons Restaurant.
Looks like there’s another good reason to visit Milan.

Creative director Jonathan Anderson travelled round the globe discovering artisans for Loewe’s latest Salone project.
A year in the making, the brand explored the exceptional forms of textile craft in aim to combine advanced expertise of the house’s workshops with the work of smaller ateliers. As a result, they used ribbon hand-embroidery from India on blankets and totes, while other items were made with the ancient method of boro in a Japanese atelier.
Anderson travelled to remote corners in Europe, Asia, Africa and South America, exploring various types of artisanal textile production methods, focusing in particular on workshops that bridged tradition and modernity. In Senegal, highly skilled craftswomen applied an elaborate African patchwork technique to achieve the complex patterns entirely by hand. In Ecuadorian mountains, Loewe sourced an exceedingly rare fabric gathered from the back and neck of the vicuña, a llama-like animal that lives in the wild in the Andes.
Loewe’s latest Salone project began with a series of especially commissioned, large-scale tapestries featuring images of various origin, woven at an atelier in Aubusson, central France, known for fusing traditional craftsmanship with of-the-moment digital methods. There are blankets decorated with a safety pins, and feathered textiles printed with black and white photographs. Each tote bag was assembled at the house’s workshops in Spain and sold at their Milan boutique during Salone del Mobile.
Want to get your hands on one these expertly crafted masterpieces? They will hit boutiques worldwide in October with both the tapestry and blanket styles available for special order. Profits from the Loewe Salone project will be donated to charities promoting women’s education and crafts around the globe.

Gordon has been working alongside Mrs Herrera for the past year as the creative consultant before taking on the brands direction when she stepped down after the FW19 show. Instead of gradually introducing us to his vision for the house, he went straight in with a debut bridal collection featuring an array of styles that any bride-to-be will be happy to walk down the aisle in.
For Spring 2019 bridal collection, he presents several modern silhouettes decorated in chic playful details like oversized bows and hearts in organza. There is contemporary tailored look as well as splashes of pastel yellows and blues that he uses in wide ribbons at the shoulders or waistline. He worked with texture such as layered skirts, floral embroidered motifs and petals of fabric hand stitched onto select gowns.
Every bride wants to feel beautiful but these dresses also offer something unique, memorable and joyful. We’re impressed.

Shirting has long been a backbone of our wardrobes and the dress version can easily take you from office to party.
Returning every season, a shirt dress has been re-imagined this summer by brands like Jacquemus, Jason Wu and Palmer//Harding who all played with fun prints, asymmetric cuts and daring necklines.
For a chic and boardroom appropriate result, style a shirt dress over trousers and feel free to add a feminine shape by belting at the waistline. Long button down version work well on their own with a pair of backless mules, while beachside glam can be channelled with a low cut, almost sheer material shirt dress. Pinstripe is timeless, but explore other prints and colours – but stick to pastel hues for a modern feel.
Swap long sleeves for short, but while the arms are out keep the hemline below the knee and dress with block heel sandals or white cowboy boots for a bold contrast. Small details like pockets, chunky cuffs, jewelled buttons, feathers and oversized collars elevate the shirt dress further giving it a haute status.

Looking for clothing with elements of deconstruction and seamless movement with every step? It’s time for you to meet Rokh.
Phoebe Philo’s Celine revolutionized the way women want to dress. Loose tailoring, elevated classics and effortlessly cool takes on staple pieces made everyone want to be a Celine girl. Her departure felt like a void in the fashion world, but former alum Rok Hwang is here to fill that gap.
Being selected as one of the LVMH Prize finalists means presenting his label to some of biggest names in the industry including Karl Lagerfeld, Nicolas Ghesquière, Marc Jacobs and Delphine Arnault – not bad for someone who only launched in 2016. Korea-based designer creates elegance with modern take on deconstruction such as trousers and jackets that can be unbuttoned for a versatile fit, or the double sleeves that can be layered over each other.
After completing his studies at Central Saint Martins, Hwang joined Celine to work alongside Philo for three years before moving on to Chloe and then Louis Vuitton before finally starting his own label. As well as RTW there are bags such as signature rectangular shoulder bag.
The brand may still be in it’s infancy, but with Hwang’s know-how and being stocked on some of the leading luxury e-tailers (incuding the Modist) we expect his name to crop up more often, and perhaps at Paris Fashion Week in a year or two.
