Inside Dolce & Gabbana’s Jungle Themed Runway Show for Spring 2020 at Milan Fashion Week

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana didn’t opt for a subtle approach with their inspiration for their Spring/Summer 2020 collection, and jungle attire was worn from head to toe equally matching the settings around it.

After D&G’s menswear runway for SS20 championed a laid-back explorer feel, it’s no surprise womenswear for the same season has followed in its footsteps.

Set in the Sicilian jungle, the theme was clear long before the collection came out, with exotic palm trees filling out the venue – the Metropol in Milan – and leopard-print carpets gracing the floors.

Opening the show for the 124 looks was a beige belt-and-button heavy look that was completely inspired by safari attire. Looks followed that work the hues, fabrics and design details into different cuts and shapes before further aspects of the jungle theme were explored.

Of course throughout the collection, there was animal print galore – from full-length tiger print trenches, a zebra print A-line dress to a sheer leopard print strap dress.

But the best of print didn’t even come from our mammal friends – nature-inspired prints ruled the jungle-themed runway this time around. There were pineapple motifs on mini skirts, Alani anthurium flowers on skirt suits and of course leafy greens throughout.

The collection at large sets out to evoke the feeling of summertime happiness, presenting fun and bold collection that should certainly sparks joy.
