Today Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank at St George’s Chapel in Windsor in a wedding gown created by a British design duo Peter Pilotto.

Unlike the past two royal weddings between Kate Middleton and Prince William in 2011 and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry in May this year, Princess Eugenie chose not to wear a veil but instead doned a Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara, lent to her by her grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II which was originally created by Boucheron in 1921.

The dress was elegant, classic and modern and had a feature that Eugenie insisted on – a sweeping back that showed scars from an operation she had in 2002 to straighten her spine, also known scoliosis. Meaningful symbols were also embroidered into the full skirt of the gown including a thistle as a tribute Balmoral, a shamrock to reflect the bride’s roots, and a rose and ivy to represent the couple’s home. She paired the dress with Charlotte Olympia heels and kept her makeup natural with Bobbi Brown products.

As the ninth in line to the throne joined Brooksbank at the alter, he was seen saying “You look perfect.” The couple then made their vows in front of 800 guests like Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell, Ellie Goulding, Demi Moore and Kate Moss as well as senior members of the royal family including Kate Middleton wearing Alexander McQueen and Meghan Markle choosing Givenchy for the occasion.

Following the one-hour long ceremony, the newlyweds headed off to the first of two receptions. An afternoon soiree was hosted by the Queen with guests indulging in finger foods and wedding cake while listening to emotional speeches from Princess Eugenie’s father and now husband. Then the happy couple, along with selected guests, made their way to her parent’s house – The Royal Lodge in Windsor Great Park – that had a fairground set up in the garden. Naturally, the couple travelled there in style in a rare DB10 Aston Martin.
