Maje Founder, French-Moroccan living in Paris.
What’s your morning routine before work?
Preparing breakfast and chatting with my son, drinking a glass of hot water and lemon and I also do yoga twice a week.
How do you decide what to wear in the morning?
It’s very organic, I don’t think too much on what to wear. When I go to work, I like to stay comfortable in my clothes, I don’t want my body to be restrained, I usually wear a mens shirt or a soft knit sweater, a pair of jeans and a nice pair of shoes. I love accessories, when I’m dressed in a casual way, I always chose a strong pair of shoes or bag. The only exception, is during weekends, I just want to wear cocooning pieces, it’s all about quality fabrics and simple designs.
An item you can’t live without?
I’m not a material girl but I would say my phone to stay connected with the people I love.
Favourite place you like to go to in Paris?
There are so many, Paris is such a beautiful city. I would say, les Jardins du Luxembourg, where I have the feeling that I just left Paris for the countryside. It’s green, it smells good and I can relax and have a walk with my family on the weekend.
What did you do last night?
I prepared pasta and invited my brother and sister to join, we’re very close and are best friends. I love cooking, simple dishes, pasta is my favourite, you can always try something new and experiment new recipes for sauces. But I also love going out at night, watching movies at the cinema and going to the theatre.
Complete the sentence: My perfect holiday would be…
Surrounded by my beloved family in a sunny place.
What book are you reading at the moment?
Warhol: The Biography, by Victor Bockris.
Tell us a fact about you that nobody knows.
Don’t you think a woman has to keep some secrets with her? Everyone should accept the mystery. To be honest, I would say that I loose everything as I spend so much time floating off in my own thoughts.
Your favourite designer at the moment?
I’ve always been a fan of Miuccia Prada and Azzedine Alaïa but if I had to choose among the new generation of designers, I would say that I’m impressed by Demna Gvasalia and his vision for both Vêtements and Balenciaga. I like how he translates the energy of youth and the influence of streetwear in his designs with such a precise cut and proportions. Also, I love Simone Rocha and her poetic world.
Your current style inspiration?
I like comfort and soft fabrics. I need colours and I like to mix strong graphic prints. That’s why our SS17 collection is so colourful.
Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?
That’s a difficult question, but I would say my beloved husband.
Three things you hate?
Taking the plane but I have to, being away from my family on weekends, and posing for pictures.
What’s your personal motto?
Believe in yourself and follow your dreams.
How do you want the world to remember you?
It’s a bit pretentious to think that the word will remember me. The most important thing is that my children and my husband remember me as a good and loving mother and wife.
