Yesterday on June 1st, Marilyn Monroe would have turned 90 years old. A woman so iconic that she is probably one the most mimicked and parodied individuals. Starting her career as a model, before transitioning into acting, Marilyn Monroe who was previously known as Norma Jean Mortenson had an unforgettable, yet short lived life. Famously known for her charisma, beauty and her roles in movies such as Gentleman prefer blondes and Some like it hot, Marilyn was a star from the beginning to the end. Marilyn, who was constantly hounded by the press and battled with depression and addiction, died in 1962 at the age of 36. In memory of Marilyn’s distinct beauty and charm and to celebrate what would have been a milestone birthday, we have compiled a collection of our favourite rare and iconic photographs of the woman herself.
