IWC Schaffhausen has unveiled a new version of its Portugieser Chronograph featuring an Arabic dial, introduced in Abu Dhabi on 20 September during the Congress of Arabic & Creative Industries at Manarat Al Saadiyat.
The Portugieser Chronograph with Arabic dial (Ref. IW3716) features a 41mm stainless steel case and is available with ten dial colours: slate, olive, sage, purple, aubergine, mauve, pink, sunburst, ginger and ice.
Each configuration features Arabic numerals across the dial and chronograph totalisers, with the numerals finished with luminescent material for legibility. Matching alligator leather or rubber straps complete the designs.
The watch is powered by IWC’s manufactured 69355 calibre, an automatic mechanical chronograph movement with a 46-hour power reserve and column-wheel control. Its vertical subdial arrangement places the stopped minutes at 12 o’clock and small seconds at 6 o’clock.
The unveiling was accompanied by four practical watchmaking workshops led by IWC as part of the Congress ACI’s Professional Capacity Building Programme. Participants were given the opportunity to disassemble and reassemble a mechanical watch movement, exploring the mechanisms and skills involved in mechanical watchmaking.
